ETT4 Task 602.1.1-05 The lesson on pan balance equations has a clear purpose. The teacher is aware of the state standard that all 8th graders are to take algebra. By introducing some pre-algebra skills to students now will allow them to build on this prior knowledge when they reach 8th grade. Mrs. Soglin clearly states the objective of today’s lesson at the beginning of class. She tells the class that today they are going to learn about equations and pan balance. She is also providing a visual aid of a pan balance to help the variation of learners in her class. Mrs. Soglin asks the class questions about pan balance to gain information about what background knowledge and experience the students have with the subject. Many …show more content…
Even if they were wrong or needed more information to come to the correct conclusion. Her lesson used cooperative learning with indirect instruction. She asked a lot of probing questions and then would build on students’ response. She gave plenty of think time for the students to process what they were trying express to the class. If students didn’t give the correct response she would allow other students to help come up with the correct answer. The correct answer came from the students building on each others knowledge. Mrs. Soglin facilitated the discussion and added new information as needed. After the class discussion the students worked on their activity in pairs or groups and were engaged in self directing during this time.
This lesson was geared toward many levels of learning ability and a variety of learning styles. Mrs. Soglin modeled the learning objective with the pan balance using the visual aid with the scale and a variety of different objects to be weighed. Then she provided additional information using the chalkboard. She engaged with the class by having an open discussion allowing the students to build on each other’s knowledge of the subject matter. She allowed for students to model for the class. When students were working in groups and pairs the higher level students helped lower level students. She also provided challenging problems at the end of the activity for those students who were ready and
I believe that I am proficient in establishing a classroom setting that calls upon the students to learn in an individual and collaborative manner. I believe that I have sufficiently encouraged positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation. I have shown this in learning activities that have been presented to the students. An example of this would be with the placard assignment, which had the students fill out a sheet that corresponded to four maps to help them figure out what artifacts certain cultural regions would use. During this learning segment, students would have to be self directed after the directions were given, the students would have to use collaborative skills, and they were all engaged during
Discuss filing requirement? - Filing requirements are specified by law for each type of taxpayer. In addition, all corporation must file a tax return annually regardless of their taxable income. Therefore, estates and trusts are required to file annual income tax returns if their gross income exceeds $600. In the filing requirements for individual taxpayers are a little more complex as they depend on the taxpayer’s filing status, age and gross income. The gross income thresholds are calculated as the sum of the standard deduction, additional deduction for taxpayers age 65 or older and personal exemptions that should be applied to each respective filing status. In addition, the amounts are indexed each year for inflation. Thus, when a taxpayer is due a refund which happened to occur only when

Businesses today face a plethora of ethical duties such as upholding corporate governance, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and presenting an image of social responsibility. In review of Company Q’s (Q) current ethics culture, its image in regards to social responsibility is not equivalent to that of its competitors. In a growing market faced with increasingly challenging competition, there are several areas that Q can and needs to address to bring the company to a level of social responsibility that exceeds stakeholder expectations. First, attention Q needs to address market demands for additional locations to better
During this week’s assignment, Peterson (2015) tackles critical components of listening skills. The listening component that I find myself needing to work on is that of not defending what I perceive as attacks against my character during my interactions both with co-workers and family. Naturally, if I am devoting my thoughts to responding or defending my actions, how can I be effectively listening? In addition, when counteracting a statement with a defensive posture or verbal cues, it insights the other individual to feel attacked, resulting in a vicious cycle of both parties being defensive and no one listening or understanding one another (Peterson, 2015).
Willow Bend Hospital’s compliance does indeed have multiple deficiencies and is in need of review as many were updated in 2009 and 2010. All information on deficiencies would be found on the latest updated version of the Joint Commission Information Standards. This should be located within the Corporate Compliance/Risk Manager’s office. As this information is not currently available to this writer without a subscription and fee, I must use the information available to me. So expansion and explanation of policy details are limited.

The structure, processes, and outcome factors of nursing care are reflected in Nursing-Sensitive Indicators (NSIs). There are several things that the nurses in the provided scenario could have done to promote quality patient care. By being aware of restraint use as an NSI the hospital staff would be more likely to increase their focus and attention to its need and any development of complications. This increased focus and attention could have led to the development of educational opportunities for the hospital staff on the identification of pressure ulcer related complications. Had the nurse and nursing
a. Hasty Generalization; This is the “Hasty Generalization” fallacy because it can said it is stereotyping. Taking the fact that there has been shootings the area and trying to tie it with the fact that the whole area must be bad is taking one truth and applying it to everything that has to do with the topic.
Commitment causes the teacher to seek effective ways of pulling out what is inside of the student. Two ways to do this is through cooperative training which is pairing the students or placing them small groups, and peer teaching which gives the student the opportunity to explain using his own understanding. Both are very effective methods as they embrace individuality and creativity.
Developing positive relationships is important within most situations in life, a good way of ensuring these positive relationships progress is to ensure you have effective communication. When working with children if you complicate things it can lead to the child becoming confused as to what is expected of them. Make sure the language that you use is age appropriate to avoid confusion. You may be able to see if the child has understood your request by either checking that your instructions have been carried out or simply by asking the child "do you understand?" and asking them to relay back what you have asked. Communication is a two way thing and to have a positive relationship with somebody you will also
Here I am captured in this irritating street where all I can do is listen to music and look at Facebook. I am waiting for cars to start moving and continue with their destination. Little do I know that ahead of me is a two hour traffic. I am already tired, bored, and furious. I cannot believe I took this road home instead of my usual route. Why do I have to try new things? I should stick to what I know. While I sit in the drivers’ sit I am still wondering why I had the bright idea of taking a new way home, a way that I had little knowledge of.
Unfortunately, this company has violated the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 due to the fact that they advised the applicant that they could not make the necessary adjustments to accommodate her needs. The American with Disabilities Act of 1990 does require that companies make necessary adjustments to accommodate the needs of qualified applicants. The key words to me are qualified applicants. They did use the words undue hardship in their response for denial but they would have to prove that modifying 2 elevators is actually a hardship to their company. Now, if they can prove that there may be no violation but the proof of burden is on them. Also, they may also say that the applicant is
I believe in a cooperative learning pedagogy where teachers guide students’ education and stimulate them to think critically, analyze complex situations, and problem solve. Learning is a lifelong partnership between both teacher and student. There has to be mutual respect and a common goal to facilitate learning. Therefore, students must agree to take responsibility for their learning in order to engage and teachers must be willing to engage. My role as a teacher is to assist students through evidence-based practice, scholarly inquiry, and research.
