My job as a demographer was to analyze what the current 4551 population needs in terms of local community services. The service that has been chosen will best meet the needs of the 4551 postcode over the next 10-15 years. It is most important to look at population data when making serious planning decisions that will affect the residents of Caloundra because if the postal area has many young families but limited child care centers and school services it may be something to consider placing education centers in the suburb. The five service options which I have been asked to consider were, child care centers and school services for young students, indigenous community centers and multilingual services for those people of different cultures and languages and aged health care services for the retired, but young at heart, needing domestic help. …show more content…
The population percentage of children aged 0-14 is 19.1% in the postal area of 4551 and the population percentage for retired people aged 65 and over is 22.1%. In 4551, 91.1% speak English, 0.5% speak German, 0.3% speak Dutch and Italian and 0.2% speak French and Spanish. 5.6% of people in 4551 speak two or more languages. The median age for full time and part time workers in 4551 in the next 10-15 years will be around 48 because the retirement age will rise increasing the years of employment and
While conducting my ethnography I have interviewed five All-Girl members, and four Coed members of the Spirit program. By interviewing one more All-Girl members I hope to even out my biases due to being a part of the Coed team. Yet, before defining the differences found between the two teams, I will share the apparent similarities. Both teams show strong linguistic accommodations which I have observed at numerous appearances, such as changing the way one would speak due to their audience. When present at an appearance all members of the Spirit program are expected to intermingle and socialize with attendees. During the course of this exchange it became apparent that accommodating for the age of audience drastically changed the way the team members spoke. For example, when Jules Wazny was speaking to an elderly man she reduced the tempo at which she spoke and asked questions about the game and respectfully shook his hand; yet when she was speaking to a child she spoke in a higher pitch tone, offered the child her poms to play with, and asked questions such as how old the child was. These actions represent convergence, changing ones language to better fit the style of the recipient, which was not only found with All-Girl Cheerleader Jules Wazny, but also throughout the program. An example from a Coed member was Vivi Benbrook changing how she spoke with a middle age male, in a calm and respectful manor asking questions of the game such as where his seats where, and if he thought we were going to win. Contrast this to when she spoke to an elderly women, she used a higher pitch when asking if she was excited, and telling her to stay warm in this cold weather. All members, once wearing affiliated attire, whether it is practice gear,
Ethnography tells about a culture and the members that comprise this culture. A definition is the scientific description of the customs and individual people of a culture. The process of doing this assignment allowed me to explore another aspect of a cultural group. I was able to learn extensively about interactions between individuals and how see them as a culture. The group that comprises my ethnography is a cultural group very common to Utah. The culture I focused on was the LDS culture, to be more specific I studied a sub-culture of this group. My subculture was a group of 12 year old adolescents that are a Sunday school class in this culture.
Ryan (pseudonym) is a 20-year-old male. Ryan was raised in Janesville, Wisconsin. The client described that his family struggles financially. He comes from a single parent home and is an only child. He has currently relocated to Whitewater, Wisconsin and lives with four roommates. He is presently in his third year at UW-Whitewater. The demographic could be defined at a national and local area, these factors could include: the number of single parents; the number of children under 4 years old (under schooling age); the number of people unemployed, employed or retired; the death rate and the ages of those people who die; the number of people who are registered as disabled. The number of these people are considered and also the distribution across the UK and within the local area. During the investigation in this report I will be focusing on two local demographic influences these will include the age and the health requirements of Lincolnshire.
This essay is an ethnographic study of Whole Foods Market which is located in Kensington, London. Whole Foods Market is a niche supermarket that sells high quality organic and natural products at high prices. In this essay, I will provide a brief orientation of ethics with regards to the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility - macroethics and Business Ethics - microethics and the theoretical frameworks of consequentialism, deontology and virtue ethics. I will be using deontology framework in ethics devised by Immanuel Kant to assess if the marketing strategy and the products sold at Whole Foods Market support their principle of ‘organic and natural’.

Measure the width of the coarse opening at the top, middle, bottom and the height at both sides and in the middle end. If the difference between the three width sizes or the three height sizes of the coarse opening is more than 1 inch, cut tapered plaster strips from stud stock and nail them to the sides of the opening that are out of level. Be sure the outside scopes of the window are at least ¾-inch slimmer and ½-inch shorter than the tiniest width and height measurements, correspondingly. Otherwise, if they're not, you'll have to either reframe the opening or order a new window of the same size.
A norm is a socially expected behavior that may change based on a person, place, or situation. An agency is a freedom of choice. For my ethnographic research, I have to observe a public place in which people commonly interact with each other. A public place that stood out to me was the Lockwood library third floor. I chose this location because it is not similar to a usual library, it is the complete opposite. Libraries enforce strict rules like no eating and no talking. Lockwood floor three says otherwise. The floor is filled with long tables that can seat around twenty people each. Ironically, there are no bookcases on this floor, just tables everywhere. There is one group study room on this floor which can be reserved by students which is the size of an average classroom.
An ethnographic study would be the most beneficial methodology for my research because it focuses on an in-depth study of a group (Hoonard 2012).
The research idea that I came up with is the study of homelessness in Brooklyn, New York. Homelessness is just one of the many issues we are dealing with in New York City. For this research I will be using two different methods which will help me withThe social science method I plan on using is to conduct an ethnography. The representational method I plan on using is mapping. These methods will add extra data that will greatly benefit my research.
I was born into an age where cameras and technology were easily available. I started using cameras and computers basically from when I was born. I was intrigued by videos and photos. Me and my friends used the family video camera to make movies and film skits. I took general art classes from Kindergarten up until now. My interest in graphic design and computer editing programs spiked in 7th grade when i took a technology class with Mr. Mayes. I learned how to use photoshop and edited pictures for fun. Up until this year photoshop was something I was ok at and never really mastered. Computer Graphic Design with Ms. Remer-Saenz elevated my ability in photoshop and taught me how to use Coreldraw and Adobe Illustrator as well. I have been using
For this ethnography project, I analyzed two field situations with some of my close guy friends here in Bloomington in public and private settings. For the public field situation, we went to Denny’s in Bloomington late at night in order to get out of the house on a Friday. For the private situation, we got together to watch March Madness at my friend’s apartment. I analyzed these situations to determine how my friends and I interact public vs. private and how our behaviors differentiate. Our purpose for hanging out and going out to eat as friends were to build solidarity through common interests, story and joke telling, and through positive and negative face.
Once the song was fully memorized I practiced it with the recording accompaniment. I learned when to come in from the piano intro and how long to wait after the different phrases and sections. There were no dynamics for the voice part, so I added them in where I saw fit based on the phrases and lyrics, and was highly influenced by a recording sung by Cecilia Bartoli at the Berliner Philharmoniker with Daniel Barenboim.
The second floor was off-limits to male guests and the only men who were allowed up here were counselors and security guards; however, before they were allowed to come upstairs, an intercom announcement was made to “warn” the women of the impending male presence. Nervously, I asked Sarah to go inside the living quarters to make sure all the women were decent as well as did not mind me coming inside the room to gain a general view of the room and talk to Sarah more privately. Only a handful of women were inside and they were all fine with me coming in as long as I did not have a recording device on me (which I did not). At first glance, the living quarters’ main equipment was bunk beds. Near each bed was a small crate with personal belongings,
In metaphysics the idea that reality is created by the observer and therefore created by the experience of our world as stated by Deepak Chopra, I do not agree with. If I did I would believe that I could create my own reality therefore basically acting if I believe it then it is so. I would make experiences that would make the world what I wanted it to be. I would manipulate the happening and the people around me to make reality what I wanted it to be. I would be selfish and not consider anything or anyone else that is involved. I would never consider any one else’s opinion or beliefs and only my own, basically living as if my reality is correct. If you could live in this shell then life would be wonderful and completely what you wanted it
