For the importance of this assignment, I had the opportunity of interviewing one of the social services workers. The social service worker in which I interviewed, was once a client but now holds a professional position within the agency. Understanding the demographics of Peoria, IL is one of the reasons, I was certain that I would receive valuable information about the numerous ethical dilemmas she had encountered. She began the interview explaining that due to being born and raised in Peoria, she knows everyone especially the clients. She continued by saying, she is familiar with numerous of clients due her affiliation with substances use. She stated that when she is faced with an ethical dilemma, she typically would meet with the Case Manger, which is a Licensed Clinical Professioal Counselor (LCPC) and would ask her how she should proceed with the client. The Case Manger typically refers her to the NASW Code of Ethics book that she keeps in her office. If the LCPC, could not help the worker find clarity, then they will consult with the Vice President of Mental Health Services to guide their decision making.

As a healthcare provider, we take an oath to do no harm and put our patients first. I am a licensed registered respiratory therapist, and in my role, I have a duty to care for my patients and provide adequate treatment and respiratory support that falls within my scope of practice.
In health and social care, four key Ethical Principles that are taken into account during these settings. Which are:

Nurses are constantly challenged by changes which occur in their practice environment and are under the influence of internal or external factors. Due to the increased complexity of the health system, nowadays nurses are faced with ethical and legal decisions and often come across dilemmas regarding patient care. From this perspective a good question to be raised would be whether or not nurses have the necessary background, knowledge and skills to make appropriate legal and ethical decisions. Even though most nursing programs cover the ethical and moral issues in health care, it is questionable if new nurses have the depth of knowledge and understanding of these issues and apply them in their practice
In the Healthcare field there are ethical issues that arise daily. From balancing care quality to determining end of life issues, healthcare professionals are constantly trying to find a place of balance. Healthcare professionals do not have an easy job, they face challenging decisions every single day determining what is best for the patient and the organization. Ethically physicians are required to provide an appropriate plan of care for all of their patients without insurance bias. The discrimination lies in the fact that most uninsured patients cannot follow the plan of care they have received. The Kaiser Family Foundation found that, “uninsured adults were three times as likely as adults with private coverage to say they postponed or did not get a needed prescription drug due to cost” (2015). This creates problems for both the patient and the hospital/place where treatment was provided. If the patient cannot afford the proper post care, the patient's condition will worsen. The patient will have to decide to either go to the ER or continue on due to the fear of a high bill. The Kaiser Family Found:
Pertaining to this case challenging social injustice is the ethical responsibility that we are focusing on. “Social workers pursue social change, particularly with and on behalf of vulnerable and oppressed individuals and groups of people” (NASW, 2008, Ethical Principals Section, para 2). It is our duty as a social worker to advocate and fight for children, not only when children have been subject to abuse and neglect but also when they are removed from their family of origin and placed in foster care. Schagrin (2007) states:
During a disaster, healthcare workers are faced with many ethical dilemmas of different natures. Some will take a very personal resonance especially if they live in the affected area. In regards to problems related to lack of confidentiality and billing compliance during a disaster they face dilemmas and distress.
With a growing epidemic of obesity in America, some states and lawmakers have resorted to taking unconventional measures in order to counter the growing issue. Many legislators are debating the effectiveness of a “fat tax” would be on limiting the consumption of soda, high fat foods, and high sugar foods, and ultimately reducing the rate of morbidity and mortality due to obesity. The idea is that long term consumption of high fat, high sugar foods and drinks lead to many health problems, so making them more expensive and less accessible should decrease the health issues related to their consumption.
The work, which occupies a central place in our society, seeking constantly emotions. At the heart of social relations and conflicts, it generates all at once or violence solidarity, arousing feelings of injustice, anger, envy, hatred, but also of satisfaction and pleasure. As part of their daily professional activities, work mobilizes individuals in their "whole" body and soul, prompting them to rely on technical skills but also emotional, engaging their enthusiasm as their desire to do well to mobilize empathy and trust. The work can also be the scene where unintended emotions arise. When workers face difficult situations in their activities, or where the working conditions are hard, boredom, discouragement, anger and hopelessness can invite to work. We do not always measure the effort and work on oneself a considerable employee must publicly or pretend to show some emotions and, instead, to hide her tears or her disgust. Introduction Ethics is the study of principles that seek to explain morality and the difference between right and wrong. Ethics can help us decide what to do in certain situations when the right option seems unclear – these situations are called moral dilemmas. Many philosophers have tried to establish ethical theories that will solve most, if not all ethical dilemmas, all to no avail. This is very difficult to accomplish because complex problems and situations can rarely be fixed with one solution. Ethics and ethical principles are very important in our society because people are generally required to follow them and this help us to live in peace with our fellow men and helps to maintain a civilized society.
