The Outsiders character I chose was Keith “Two-Bit” Mathews. Two-Bit is a prominent character, but you do not receive much personal information about him in the text. I chose a picture of Two-Bit, played by Emilio Estevez, from the Outsiders movie to be a visual representation of Two-Bit. I also chose the word joke because Two-Bit loves to joke around. I included a picture of a black switch-blade, one of Two-Bit’s most prized possessions. I encompassed his height, about 6 feet, to show the difference in height between us. The picture of a grey eye represents the color of his eyes, which is a fairly rare eye color. The first quote I chose, “You couldn't shut up that guy; he always had to get his two-bits worth in. Hence his name,” is from the …show more content…
The picture of the guitar and trumpet represent the two instruments I play and show my love for music. I included a picture of crazy socks to represent some of the weird things I do, like wear crazy socks everyday. My height is 5 ft 2 ¼ inches, which I incorporated to show the difference in height between Two-Bit and myself. There are pictures of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley to show my humongous love for the Harry Potter series, written by J.K. Rowling. The newspaper cutout is of my lacrosse team when we won the championships last year. The American Idiot the Musical logo is to represent my favorite musical, which West Potomac High School performed last year. My older sister Tessa was in it, I saw it 3 times, and I have a shirt from the show. The picture of the adorable dog covered in snow and ice is my cockapoo, Ember, whom I love very much! The picture of Big Ben in London, England is to represent where I would like to live when I am an adult. I encompassed a picture of my high-top yellow converse to show another different thing I wear. The first quote I chose was “Trust is like an eraser, it gets smaller and smaller after every mistake.” I chose this quote to represent the fact that I am not a very trusting person and my friends must gain my trust over time. The second quote I chose was “Even though your thinking may not be right for others, just so long as it’s right for you then that’s all that matters,”
First, the swastika symbol which to me represents the time Hitler took over who was a Nazi. Second, the skull and crossbones when I see that in this particular poster I think of death. Thirdly, the little boy who has blonde hair and blue eyes. Now during World War 2 when Hitler was in power he was out to make the master race which include blonde hair and blue eyes. So the little boy would have lasted a long time during the war. And the fourth thing I notice is the scene in the background. The scene in the background looks to me like a war zone with the fire in the right-hand corner and or the buildings that had fallen to the ground.
Hinton created unique characters to display her overall theme of the book. Ponyboy Curtis is the protagonist in The Outsiders. Hinton shows Pony as a young greaser who doesn’t use his head much, unless it is for books or movies. Although not much has happened in his life as a greaser, a lot has happened to his fellow greasers. For example, Johnny Cade; the boy who had a horrible home life, came searching for a gang to fill the hole where his family
The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is about two gangs trying to kill each other in Oklahoma in the 1960’s. The story’s theme is about growing up. One character who stands out in the story is Dally because he was a static character. The character can be described as loyal, hard and brave. Dally was a Greaser.
If you were in the book The Outsiders, you would be a part of one group, either the ‘Greasers’ or the ‘Socs’. The ‘Socs’ came from a rich background and the ‘Greasers’ came from a poor one. In the book The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, Johnny and Ponyboy run away after Johnny kills a Soc. Then tension rises between the two gangs, and the church Johnny and Ponyboy were staying at, sets fire! Johnny and Ponyboy save the kids, which were inside the church, from the fire and become heroes. The Greasers win the rumble and Johnny dies from his injuries in the fire. Finally, Ponyboy writes The Outsiders as an English paper. The Outsiders is about how Ponyboy grows up with a rivalry between gangs in the mid-1960s in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One person who stands out in this story is Johnny, a round and dynamic character. He is a round character because we see different sides of him throughout the story. He is Dynamic because he changes throughout the story. Johnny would not know what love and affection was because his father abused him and his mother ignored him. Johnny is shy, caring, and mature.
The logo is of a girl at the end of a road looking up at a group of constellations. The road that the girl is standing at the end of, is in the shape of a ancient Greek symbol which means “past”. This is to show that the past is of great importance to me, and although the past is behind me, I will not forget my past and I will learn from it. The girl in the middle of the logo is a represents me, and as the girl is looking up at the stars, this is to represent my interest in astrology. This is also represented by the planet and constellations which are incorporated into the dark sky.
The movie The Outsiders is very similar to the book but of course there are also many differences. The main characters in both the movie and the book are Ponyboy Curtis, Darry Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, Two-Bit Mathews, Steve Randle, Dally Winston, and Johnny Cade. The Outsiders is about a teen gang in rural Oklahoma. The Greasers are perpetually at odds with the Socials, a rival group. When Greasers, Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade get into a brawl that ends in the death of a Social member, the two greasers are forced to go into hiding. Soon Ponyboy and Johnny, along with the intense Dallas Winston and their other Greaser buddies, must contend with the consequences of their violent lives. While some Greasers try to achieve redemption, others meet tragic ends. The book is written in first-person narration style and the narrator for both the movie and the book is PonyBoy Curtis.
‘’The Outsiders’ by S.E Hinton, is a life based story on Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy Curtis, the main character the narrator. I enjoyed reading the book and watching the book both. It would’ve been better if the movie was a lot more detailed like the book was. And if we could’ve watched the whole movie.
In the novel The Outsiders, there are many ideas worth speaking about, one of which being the characters. There are multiple ways where the author communicates to you by showing you what's happening rather than telling. It was amazing how S.E. Hinton wrote this book in high school with such a surprising plot and selfless characters. Johnny and his gang of greasers shows you what it is like in Tulsa Oklahoma. Almost all of the characters in this book perform some act of heroism before the story finishes unfolding, but for me a hero needs selflessness, loyalty, and courage; Johnny Cade, the pet of the greasers, fits this definition perfectly.
My CubeeCraft represents North Lakes State College in a pretty simple way, our school is multicultural and has many nationalities enrolled in it, I made the legs the American flag because we have a lot of American people, on my CubeeCraft’s left arm it has the Italian flag, since we learn Italian all through school here and there are Italian students attending our school. The Brazilian
The character chosen is Dallas Winston this character’s perspective on life is you should do whatever you want whenever you want, because he feels that the government is not right so you should be able to do what you want. Also, it is that you should never do what anyone else says. So, he doesn’t think anything matters in life, because he hates the world and doesn’t believe anything. That is because in the story “The Outsiders” on page 20 it says “Dally hated to do things the legal way. He liked to show that he didn't care whether there was a law or not.”
For Jewel, I included an image with the words “Mommas Boy” because Jewel is a momma’s boy at heart and protects his mother’s casket with everything he has. I also included the cover of Dusty Springfields hit song, “Son of Preacher Man.” I felt this would be interesting to do because Jewel is technically the son of a preacher man (minister). Dewey Dell was also trickier to find photos for, but her pregnancy was something that surrounded her most of the story, so I decided to include a picture of a pregnant woman in the woods as it was Dewey Dell on the journey. Finally, a snare of Vardaman.
The quote that really stood out to me was said by Oliver Wendell Holmes which was, “The great thing in this world is not so much where you stand, as in what direction you are moving.” I like this quote because I feel like everyone can relate to what it is saying and use it as an influence for their lives. It tells you to keep moving forward and keep moving on to the next thing in life, because there is always something more. If you are feeling down, it will always get better and it won’t always be like this. One way this quote can be represented by is when someone is not doing well in a sport they are truly passionate about.
The first picture I chose is the picture of the front of the school. I chose this picture because it is very familiar to the parents and so that they know beyond a doubt what school we are talking about. The second picture is a picture of a bulldog which is the mascot of the school “The Burkburnett Bulldogs” The third image I chose is the Hardin logo. I chose this because it has our schools motto on it “Hardin is College Bound!” and subtly lets the parents know what the goal of our school is all about. All three of these first images will go together as a whole to create a type of cover for the presentation as a whole.
The debate over whether the United States should have stricter gun laws has become a major talking point in our society. However, the clear choice that will bring the most prosperity and security to our country is to maintain the current gun control laws as they are the best option for the USA’s modern society. We must not let the rush to judgement after every shooting spree cloud our minds and glaze over all the benefits and lifestyles that guns let us take for granted. Society must also see what the outcomes are for the other options suggested and to not make the wrong choice and have to live with the consequences. We must not let the government enact laws that would place stricter controls on guns.
Women make up just slightly over half the U.S population (US Census Bureau, 2010) and should not be even considered a part of a minority group. The female population should acquire the same equal research attention as men do, especially when it comes to health issues. The unavoidable, yet quite simple realities of breastfeeding, menstruation, menopause, along with pregnancy require special scrutiny from medical experts. Those medical specialties are generally referred as gynecologists or obstetrics, who focus on the exclusive needs of a female’s reproductive health throughout their lifespan. Historically, the health needs of women have been disregarded as well as their fundamental rights. However, over the past few decades, it has grabbed the media and the government’s attention causing some major changes in support of women’s rights and health care.
