One way to incorporate all three strategies is establishing school norms based on the principals of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey, 2012. These principals address how teens can handle tough, life-changing decisions they often face. Emotional health is the process to enhance ones’ ability to integrate thinking, feeling, and behaving to achieve important life tasks. Providing adequate instructions time in school curriculums to develop emotional health can give students targeted skills to build a positive mindset. As a student, I am often troubled by the rigid routines of the school day, despite the fact that I am actually a very habitual person. The constant ringing of bells, lectures, bellwork, classwork, homework, each a daily practice throughout the school year. Although all of these components promote conformity, which will ultimately support the balance of school and societal norms, they also tend to threaten each student’s own unique characteristics. This then poses the question; to what degree should schools encourage conformity versus individuality? Lindsey, Robins, and Terell (2009) denounces, “this system of oppression existed because those who benefited from existing practices felt no need to address disparities” (p.75). Standard 5 of the Florida Leadership Standards mandates, “promotes school and classroom practices that validate and value similarities and differences among students”. An inclusive learning environment could have resulted in empathy. If the students could understand that everyone reacts differently, some problems could be avoided. Moreover, a differentiated classroom could have guided Jerry’s effort to use a positive approach to attain his academic goals. Teachers could have used a differentiation approach to keep Jerry’s attention in the task and away from distractors. Tomlinson and Allan (2000) describe the differentiated classroom as flexible. They continue explaining the principle, “all students consistently work with “respectful” activities and learning arrangements” (p. 7). However, differentiation takes time and effort. It was easier to have an associate to look for Jerry’s negative behavior to evidence that he did not belong in the regular setting. This way, the faculty continues the teaching and learning process as if the students were homogenous. Since most of the students benefited, there was no need in the educator’s mindset for change to address disparities or achievement gaps.
I attend Pattonville High School, which is a public school that has many different norms for many different types of people. One norm is that all the kids with good grades will rush to class, for no reason, they just do it. A different norm is that all the people that have girlfriends always walk them to class, even if they get a tardy, you never let them walk alone. A different norm involves the surroundings of the school. There is a Seven-Eleven less than half a mile away from the school, and whenever you have a game, or meet you walk up their buy food, or if you didn’t bring any money you go up and try to smooch off of people. Another norm is that during your sports’ season you sit with everyone on your team, even if its only you as a freshmen
According to my strategy statement made in week 3 Application, I have a great belief that mental support plays an important role in supporting high school students in dealing with and fighting against depression. As a special education classroom assistant (SECA) who directly work with students with learning disability and mental illness, I understand that it is my duty to support and encourage my students to take part in mental health support and wellness education program available in school. The culture of the Perdue schools affects the communication and coordination of services in a major way. Part of our mission statement is to learn through experience. Professors don't just create course work, they create experiences for their student to learn from. Business plan projects, mock financial analysis, group projects are all examples of real world experiences that you get in the classroom. We encourage high ethical standards. Professors don't tolerate cheating or breaking the rules. Most students that do get caught cheating are kicked out of the school. Despite evidence that school viciousness and other main problems among youth may have declined or leveled off, a significant need for effective prevention programming is still necessary. Current data suggests that of “11.3 % of young people in this country, about 7.4 million youth altogether, have at least one diagnosable emotional, behavioral, or developmental condition; 40 % of these youth are diagnosed with two or more of these conditions” (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services 2010).
Sentencing reform could help people do better in life. Over the years people can see that in the article "source 2: Mass incarceration is a horrible failure" that mass incarceration really isn't helping anyone for the better. We should change the system because it isn't helping the felons when they are in jail or when they leave, and it doesn’t benefit their families either. Mass incarceration doesn’t help anyone for the better. Additionally, families go through a lot when someone they love is put in incarceration, especially for a crime that they probably did not commit.

Douglass reveals this matter and says, irresponsible power is the norm of the slaveholders and the slaves are trained to speak kindly of their masters. To avoid facing consequences in social environments, both large and small, people follow these patterns known as norms to be accepted in these kinds of situations. When viewing social scenarios, the way they unfold have very common attributes no matter where in society one looks. While using a public restroom, attending a class in school, or meeting somebody for the first time, social norms that are expected to be met in each respective situation can be found and examined.
I believe all superintendents have commonalities in their work. The budget of every district should speak to their educational priorities and should be aimed at enhancing teacher practice to improve student achievement and produce students who demonstrate college and career readiness to become productive members of society. In order to accomplish this, the superintendent needs to create a student-centered environment where the culture believes that every student has the ability to succeed.
