It wasn’t until 2009 when he wrote the Maze Runner. Then a year later he wrote The Scorch Trials.
The novel in my eyes is stupendous. I love how he describes the action filled-moments. The detail really immerses you in the story. He finds a way to make everything seem a little dark. How he writes makes everything have a dark tone. He could be writing about a puppy and you'd have chills down your spine. The conflict and action sequences that occur in the book appeal to me. Although the book is well written, it has some minor flaws.
In my personal opinion, I feel the story moved a little slower than it should have. I think that Mr.Dashner spent too much time describing small scenarios. By that I mean he wrote a ton of descriptive paragraphs about one character, and one room. Don’t misinterpret me, I love descriptive writing. Although I feel he overdid it on some pages. Therefore, preventing the story to advance as quickly as it
On page 357 of The scorch trials, “The betrayal meant he couldn't trust her anymore, and his heart told him he couldn't forgive her.” What it means is that Thomas doesn't have a good trusting and caring relationship with Teresa for what she did to him. The book, by James Dashner is about this young guy named Thomas who likes to protect his friends from Wicked, because Wicked are people that put them through tough situations and ruined his relationship with Teresa. Thomas is a dynamic character, in trusting, he learns that as time passes he won't be able to trust the people that he loved.
I would not have finished reading his book had it not been about places that I have traveled to and names of people I am familiar with. It is confusing and choppy. Sometimes it had to be read more than once to make sure I was following his thoughts correctly.
The title, “Scorch Trials” has to do with the book because it is the name and setting of the trials that the Gladers have to complete successfully. To explain this further, the WICKED, or the World In Catastrophe Experiment Department, has set up trials for the Gladers to see which of them can successfully survive and reach the cure for the disease that has been injected into them called the Flare, as a prize for their hard and good work. These trials have been named the “Scorch Trials” because they take place outside in the “dangerous” world that is filled with Cranks or in other words zombies that are trying to eat and attack the Gladers alive. Not only that, but the outside world is almost unbearably scorching hot and dry. The sun is so
In the book, The Scorch Trials, the main characters Thomas and Teresa are friends who help each other get through some difficult times. Sticking together and friendship are important themes throughout the book. There were a lot of tragic and scary things that happen and because the friends stuck together, they were able to get through them.
Imagine traveling to the future to discover the disappearance of the principles and ways of life that once were. In this futuristic world, firemen start fires to burn books instead of extinguishing them. Likewise, today’s common notion that people should read books and educate themselves reverses to the opposite where books have become illegal. The government tries to make the people believe that books only cause pain and suffering but, on the contrary, they enlighten the ignorance of the unknowing. The idea of happiness shrouds the people of this time when their euphoria is just blindness towards reality.
I like this books style because it was completely different than any other type of book I’ve before. The book didn’t really have a plot but every chapter was informative in their own way. Even though each chapter was very different each one contributed to the main idea. This book has wonderfully solid information that makes it very hard to argue or deny the main idea.
The author’s style of writing is straightforward and to the point and the novel is unique because it is written through the different perspectives of the four main characters. The switching of perspectives throughout the book is what made the book so hard to put down. I could see, compare and contrast how the characters themselves feel about the situation. As this goes on, the reader can comprehend the characters’ personalities better and their view on the other characters. If this story was written from just one point of view, one wouldn’t be able to figure out each character’s thoughts and perception of people around them.
Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury that was published in 1959 and talks about a dystopian future where fireman start fires instead of putting them out. This story is about Guy Montag, a fireman who loves his job burning the houses of outlaws who own literature and books. He has never known anything but happiness until he meets a seventeen-year-old girl and new neighbor Clarisse McClellan. To Montag, she is bizarre compared to everyone else he’s met before as she asks why stuff is done instead of just doing it. After meeting Clarisse, many frightening things start to happen around him. Trying to understand why these things happen, Montag turns to reading books which is forbidden and against his job. Friends and family turn on Montag, and he’s forced to leave the city as at outlaw. He finds other readers like him, and they vow to build a new future that won’t destroy itself like past generations have over and over again.
The only thing I did not like was at the beginning he was so focused on how when he first saw himself in the mirror as a black man. He hated it and how it was repulsing. He looks noting like the old John Howard Griffin and he had step in a new man. I know he was trying to make a point that it was a shock. But it almost made me not what to read the book. I will give him credit for putting all his thoughts into the book.
The main setting in The Scorch Trials is the scorch. The scorch is basically a desert where there use to be a city and now it is covered by sand and it is extremely hot during the day. This happened after the Flare. There are multiple characters in The Scorch Trails, like Thomas, Newt Minho, Teresa, Aris, Jorge, Brenda, Sonya, Harriet, Rachel, and Janson. The protagonist in The Scorch Trails are Thomas, and Minho because they are trying to complete the trails of W.I.C.K.E.D, so they can be free because they are tired of being their test subjects.
I especially did like the descriptive style of the writer and how the vividness of it made the book come to life and
They are forced to confess to things they did not do and to say things they know to be completely untrue. The people have been brainwashed to believe scientific evidence is false and the only thing that is fact is whatever the government tells them is true that day. In our society today I do believe that the tools that were used to torture these people would work well in our society. People are very weak in today’s society I believe they would easily break under these
Another difference between Miller’s play and the reality of the trials is that the author increased Abigail Hobbs’ age from 11 to 17, and decreased John Proctor’s age from 60 to 30 (Lecture 02/03/17) (Boyer et al. 182). This was done by the author in order to insert a love story between the two protagonists, the rest of the play unravels from this affair. By adding in this element, the reason as to why the accused girls are practicing witchcraft to start with is modified. In the play, Miller suggests that Abigail’s interest in witchcraft as a means of vengeance arises when she stops working for the Proctor family due to Proctor’s wife getting rid of her because of her affair with her husband. In reality, there never were any witchcraft ceremonies
I really enjoyed the book because I love reading very interesting and right at the

When you read it, you don’t want to put it down and it makes you feel like you are with the characters in the book and you know them so well. I recommend this book to anyone who can read at this level.
