Shakespeare’s Scribe The main protagonist, Widge, was a worrisome scribe for the Lord Chamberlain’s Men. He constantly feared if he would be fired from the acting organization, as many of his actions made him look bad, especially when he bruised his teacher, Mr. Armin. After his trip to earn money for the company, he learned to respect people he hated and found a true family to stay with no matter what. His journey was a wakeup call, changing his arrogant self into a well-mannered actor. Ever since the beginning, Widge had a distrust of Sal Pavy, as Sal had damaged Widge’s shoulder by hitting him with a blunted rapier. Widge never had the guts to face Sal, though; he was too busy fretting that he would get in trouble if he laid even a finger on Sal, who would obviously have reported him. Sal said mean things to Widge and tried to steal all of Widge’s parts, which Widge had tried hard to earn. His fake father, Jamie Redshaw, showed no moral support whatsoever, so Widge was alone in his feud with Sal. His friends did not help either, because they too were afraid of creating conflict with their mentors. Ironically, though Widge did not fight Sal, he argued over smaller things, like taking a …show more content…
Widge chose to have an acting contest, as his main dilemma was Sal stealing his parts in the play. Widge put all his effort into his act, which resulted in a tremendous victory. He had resoluted to be less worried, as his stress damaged him a lot during the journey with his group. He earned more trust from his peers, who, not only thought better of him, treated Widge as a doctor. Before joining Lord Chamberlain’s Men, Widge had worked for a doctor, so he used his old mentor’s techniques to fix his friends’ bad wounds and diseases. The expedition helped Widge to finally defeating
emphasizing that now since his position is gone he is disgusted at how the world works. He worked so much, all those hours just for the king to dismiss him, he hates how everyone does everything for the king only for a small fraction of hope that they may lead a good life. Wolsey describes himself as for the king and this is how he is repaid, by dismissing him from the position he had held. This world of working in order to please the king according to Wolsey is “wretched” due to the working man holding on to the kings favors. Wolsey is distraught, not knowing what to do now as all of his hard work and effort that he had put into his job, was now gone, because of one single person.
The Shakespeare Stealer is a story about a fourteen years old boy Widge. Because of Widge was no father and mother, and no real name, so he was sent to the orphanage. In the middle of the 16th century London, the script is usually only one, it must be carefully locked, guarded by someone. So a script for a theater is very necessary. Falcooner command Widge to stealer the Shakespeare's new play Hamlet uses shorthand. Widge’s owner is a brutal person, so he could not defy the order, he had managed to sneak into the theater, secretly recorded the entire script. Although he is to do bad things, because his heart is not bad, just being used. Although Widge was found in the theater he is to steal the script, but the troupe did not expose him. After

In 1984, rebellion was big issue. Wiston was big part of this, which drove him to fight the Party and all their beliefs. Wiston didn't care what happened to him, as long as the right thing was happening. He could be insane at times, didn't stop his fighting. Wiston hopes for a life and a reality in “The Brotherhood”, a “vast underground” organization which rebels against the Party and believes that the Party traitor Emmanuel Goldstein’s ideas of freedom of love, speech, and independent thought are just(pg17). The Party is a very secret, yet dangerous group that views Emmanuel Goldstein as the ultimate rebel. The Party completely hates Emmanuel as well because everyday there is a two minute session where the party
In 1564, a man was born by the name of William Shakespeare. He was born to a poor family, was given little education, and had no interaction with sophisticated society. Thirty-eight plays and over 150 sonnets are not attributed to this ignorant man. Those who believe that Shakespeare was the author have no definitive proof but instead point to Hamlet’s declaration: "The play’s the thing(Satchell 71)." The true author, however, lies hidden behind he name of Shakespeare. Edward de Vere the premier Earl of Oxford is not only considered a great poet in history, but he may also be the great playwright who concocted the sonnets and plays which are now attributed to William Shakespeare of Stratford, England.
Shakespeare was a playwright from Stratford who had arguably the most influential affect on English literature and the English language. His works are still praised to this day for their divine superiority, however, controversy in exceeding amounts has risen over the dispute of his authorship. This controversy has been the topic of many arguments between differently opinionated scholars who support opposing theories and beliefs (Friedman XV). "A difficult dilemma confronts biographers who tell the story of the glove maker's son from Stratford-on-Avon who is supposed to have become the world's greatest poet and dramatist" (Whalen 3). It may seem odd that this confusion and doubt had come to light in the first place, as the origin of
Lizzy tells Jane, “There certainly was some great mismanagement in the education of those two young men. One has got all the goodness, and the other all the appearance of it” (193; ch. 40). As Elizabeth says, Mr. Wickham looks and seems like a good person, while Mr. Darcy actually is the good person. Mr. Wickham is able to deceive everyone into thinking he is nice in order to get a wife, as well as to making everyone like him. After seeing Bianca, Lucentio tells his servant Tranio that he “shalt be master” in his place as well as “[k]eep the house and port and servants as I should” while he is “some Florentine, some Neapolitan, or meaner man of Pisa” (I.i.208-211).
Wiston was member of the ruling Party in London, i the nation of Oceania. Everywhere he goes he is being watched through television screens, by the Party. The Party controlled everything in Oceania, including the language. The party was forcing a language called “Newspeak” which was used to prevent political rebellion by getting rid of all the worlds related to it. Thinking thoughts, which was called Thoughtcrime, was illegal, and was the worst of all the crimes.
How dare they incarcerate me within this infernal penitentiary with all of these, these MADMEN. Every excruciating day and night I am imprisoned like a rat in a cage, watched constantly by guards who merely view me as another poor player in this ghastly band of lunatics, with no respect for my brilliant abilities which they falsely deem to be madness. With each passing day, my senses grow more acute; I hear the tormented screams of the insane who have resided in my cell as I sleep, I can feel the very ground muttering to me with each stride across the crude stone floors of this accursed fortress. I must prove my sagacity to these foolish overseers and make them behold the true extent of my powers in order to finally receive
In fact, everyone in the town thought he was a nice person due to his nice manner and kind appearance, but he wasn’t actually that nice. It was discovered in a research article that “(p)eople often draw trait inferences from the facial appearance of other people” (Willis, Todorov 2005). He was a gambler and he owed a lot of money every time he traveled past a place. Also, he was a liar and a gold digger for trying to marry to women for their money. Furthermore, he spoke ill of Darcy and ruining Darcy’s reputation just because Darcy didn’t want to give money to him. All of these characters cannot be tell from first impressions, and Wickham smartly present himself in a way that can hide his true characters from the
Wickham is not the same man in public as he is in private. Having a dreadful habit of gambling, Mr. Wickham's debt steadily increased. Not having many finances with which to provide for Lydia meant that she does not have a solid future. Also, Mr. Wickham is irresponsible with what little he does have. George Wickham successfully manipulates many of the people whom he encounters to suit his purposes.
William Shakespeare is known as one of the greatest English writers. Born on April 26, 1564, he grew up and lived in England. Often he is referred to as England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon.” During his lifetime, he wrote over 150 poems and 38 plays that are still considered to be significant in today’s society. Shakespeare is still relevant today through new forms of media, including literature and film. His plays act as frame tales for many popular story lines and have been recreated into many different interpretations of his original ideas. The plays Shakespeare wrote included many different themes and ideas that pertained to the real world. He talks about real life issues in his works that continue to be applicable to present day
William Shakespeare had a profound effect on literature not only during his life but into today. I myself recognize the amazing influence that his work has on not only me but so many others. I recognize it today but what about the days where is work where at its utmost high?
The human mind is fragile and inconsistent. For centuries, modern medicine has been attempting to understand why the mind behaves in the way that it does. Only until very recently, within the past century, we have begun to more or less figure out how, or why, a person may demonstrate a behavior. Yet, William Shakespeare was able to demonstrate reactions that would be expected of a person, when faced with a situation, through the characters in his plays. By taping into the constraints of Victorian era society, Shakespeare demonstrates deep human thinking and understanding by tailoring his characters to inhabit the discourses within his society. There is a recurring pattern of relationships among Shakespeare’s
Have you ever watched the movie “Romeo and Juliet.” Said that you were “ in a pickle,” or that you were in a “wild goose chase”? If so, you are quoting Shakespeare. Shakespeare made up words, and used words from the speech of Elizabethan England. Then, he took these words and put them into writing. This influenced the English language, which is why we say these sayings today. He is considered the greatest writer in the English language and playwright of all time. Shakespeare was also part of a good family. (Applebee,983)
