Personal SWOT Analysis Strengths Working under pressure My previous employments at Compass and Sainsbury’s have involved working as part of a small team, and at times have required me to work under pressure. I coped with this very well and showed that I was able to communicate effectively with others to get the job done within the deadline. I have learnt to provide excellent customer care through my experience of dealing with a wide variety of people. Teamwork One of my greatest strengths is my ability to adapt to different situations. While working at Sainsbury’s I was often asked at short notice to cover for staff that were absent, and I became familiar with all of the job functions at the store including baker, cashier, deliveries etc. I have also worked in hospitality at Sandown Park racecourse and Wimbledon Tennis club where the busiest and most intense event was the Wimbledon Championships. I have gained a wide range of skills from these positions as I am a quick learner and can identify and address problems swiftly. Confidence and communication I am quite confident …show more content…
Retailers are able to track customer shopping data, which provides an important source of consumer research to which manufacturers have no direct access. (2) I am particularly interested in the grocery retail market as over the last two decades, the growing dominance of supermarkets has been a major theme in the nation’s life, seen in eating habits and shopping trends(3) Furthermore, the retail industry employs 2.77 million people in the UK and it is the UK’s largest private sector employer. It accounts for £325 billion sales and one-third of all consumer spending.(4) The graph below shows the percent of retail sales attributable to online in selected merchandise

The Kroger brand was born in 1883, Bernard 'Barney ' Kroger took his life savings of $372 to open his first store in downtown Cincinnati. This location is by I-71 that passes the Great American Ballpark. Barney Kroger, the son of a merchant, had a simple "Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself." This was the credo that would serve The Kroger Co. well over the next 130 years as the supermarket business evolved into a variety of formats aimed towards satisfying the needs of their shoppers in as many aspects as possible. With nearly 3,619 stores in 34 states under 24 different names, such as Kroger, Dillons, Turkey Hill Minit Markets, Ralphs, Tom Thumb Food Stores, QuikStop, Fred Meyer Jewelers, and Littman Jewelers with an annual revenue of more than $70 billion. Reflecting on my skills, I believe I have excellent social, communication and language skills. These skills are essential in any customer-facing or team work oriented job. As explained by Morgeson, F. P. et al. in “Selecting individuals in team settings: The importance of social skills, personality characteristics, and teamwork knowledge.” (2005):
In the retail market, data record inaccuracies forms one of the most important causes of out-of stock situation. This leads to decrease in revenue for the retailers. Again, the organizations have to bear significant labor costs due to the manual system of data transfer regarding product information. This leads to indirect effects on poor data quality on the supply and demand chain (Legner & Schemm 2008, p.21). Coles Supermarkets have been using barcoding since early nineties. One of the challenges they have been facing was with the manual entries and increased labor costs if a barcode fails to scan. Secondly, barcodes lacked real-time product tracking and this is extremely important for them, as the supply chain is vast in terms of the intermediaries and the locations from which the goods are supplied and delivered. Coles have suppliers within Australia as well as from countries like India, China and Bangladesh. Due to this, they were lacking best practice opportunities of factory gate pricing and reverse logistics (Coles Centenary 2015)
With around 5000 retail outlets worldwide, operating in more then a dozen countries and with over US$286 billion in annual sales, Wal-Mart is the top retail chain and number one fortune 500 company in the world. Wal-Mart is the top employer in the U.S. with 1.3 million employees, “the company accounts for 9 cents of every US retail dollar and sells around 20 per cent of the nation’s groceries and pharmaceuticals.” (Times News Network).
My greatest personal strength is that I am comfortable speaking to large groups. This will enable me to clearly give information and guide the ensemble effectively in any situation.
Personally I believe that I am organised, I always carry round a diary, where I note down important dates and deadlines, and therefore allowing me to manage my time more efficiently. Another strength that I have is that I know how to operate a computer and I know how to use a computer effectively, at GCSE I got a B in my exam in Information and Technology, therefore giving me an advantage compared to someone who do not know how to use the computer. I also believe that I am confident, and that I have courage and the ability to speak to new people and adapt myself to a new environment without feeling uncomfortable. As well as that, I am also able to work in a group, where I can listen to my members in my group as well as voice my own opinion.

The only real vision statement Heinz offers is to have a bottle of ketchup on every table.' This vision statement reinforces the notion that Heinz only produces ketchup. It is unnecessary for Heinz to further identify themselves with ketchup. The ketchup market is not going to continue to expand much more than it has already. Since Heinz is synonymous with ketchup already, and customers are aware of this high quality product, they should make consumers aware of the other products they offer. Those who feel Heinz ketchup is of the highest quality would be eager to buy other products produced by Heinz believing they too would be of the highest quality. They do need a
Supermarket e-commerce stores that have altered business practice grow very fast. The popularity of online supermarket increases every year. Keynote’s study (as cited in Hand, Riley, Harris, Singh, and Rettie, 2009, p. 1205) explain that in 2006, the percentage of online supermarkets are higher approximately 35% than previous year. It could be that customers will shop online only in the future if the popularity of traditional stores go down. In addition, many supermarkets such as Walmart, Coles, and Giant are starting to build e-commerce. Online supermarket grow
