In this paper, I will discuss the use of research within Macy’s department store and some of the different ways and, they might be, able to use research to help with the problems their having, if the company is effective or ineffective in the use of research to help the organization, are they might be using secondary and primary research, and what the company might do in the future to expand research.
Macy and Problems
I picked Macy’s for my company it was founded in 1843 and 1855 the original Macy’s store is in Haverhill, Massachusetts, by Rowland Hussey Macy, Sr. They deal in high-quality Clothing, footwear, accessories, bedding, furniture, jewelry, beauty products, and housewares. Macy’s has a couple issues, but the biggest one is the dependence on the US economy for its revenue generation, while a few of their competitors, such as The Gap and Wal-Mart Stores get a lot of their revenue from other countries, also a lot of customers are not really buying a lot of items in the malls and are doing a lot of internet shopping for Christmas. The use of research would really help Macy’s if they researched better ways to attract people through the web by either using surveys, or researching about how some of their competitors can stay ahead in the industry.
