The statement “Romeo and Juliet feel they have “true” love,but neither character knows what “true” love is.” is a true statement. I agree with this statement as it briefly explains how most conflict in the story is caused. Most problems are caused because they believe they are in love,but in reality they feel lust toward each other. I believe that what they are really feeling towards each other is lust since they do not fully know what true love is. They feel lust towards each other which can be proven through the way they first met. Friar Laurence can easily see that Romeo feels lust for Juliet and not love. “So soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies Not truly in their hearts,but in their eyes.”-Friar(2.3.67-68). Friar immediately sees that Romeo only lusts towards Juliet since he does not know who she truly is but claims to be in “love” with her. Friar explains to them how lust is not the same as being in love since lust has dangerous outcomes. “These violent delights have violent ends”-Friar(2.6.9). Friar warns the young couple before marrying them that lust is a dangerous thing. Other characters can also see that Romeo and Juliet are not in love but rather in lust with each other. Romeo and Juliet do not know what true love is even though they believe that they have found it.The affections they have for one another do not come from love but rather from lust. They declared that they were in love with each other without truly getting to know one another only looking on appearance which is what separates love from lust.Romeo and Juliet do not feel true love, what they are feeling is lust for each other
