The Kensington Runestone was discovered almost 120 years ago, but it is believed to be over 650 years old. In 1898, a farmer from the outskirts of Alexandria, MN (Kensington) discovered the medieval artifact. Olof Öhman was originally from Sweden, and came to America in 1879 to own land and farm it, since owning land in Sweden was not an option for him. The Kensington Runestone was unearthed when Olaf Öhman was clearing his land for farming. He came across the stone entangled in the roots of an Aspen tree. It was a 202 pound stone, so it was no easy task getting it out from under that tree. There was more than one eye witness when the runestone was being uncovered. When the stone was discovered, and inscription of it was sent to the University of Minnesota to be translated. It took over one hundred more years for the copy on the stone to be correctly translated. The copy on the stone says “Eight Got- landers and …show more content…
Many researchers came from all around the world to study the stone, and many tried to say that the stone was a hoax. Öhman and his family had to deal with being in the spotlight and all of the attention they received was mostly negative. One source claimed that Olaf swore to the truth even on his death bed. Some researchers were linguists, and they tried to prove the stone a hoax by saying that some of the inscriptions on the stone didn’t exist in the Norse language at the time the stone was supposedly carved (1362), implying that Olaf Öhman carved the stone himself. This accusation has since been proven wrong, as there were artifacts found in Europe that are similar. In the beginning of the twenty first century, it was scientifically proven that Olaf did not carve the stone himself. A geologist determined this by performing a test on the deterioration of the stone. Olaf and his family got ridiculed and mocked by the public, and by researchers who wanted the glory of proving it a
Rolling a stone in front of the tomb was a major event in the story because Gebu and Wenamon will finally get caught and the guards will find the missing golden goblet. After Ranofer had answered the question right Queen Tiy got really angry and sad. She told the guards to rush over to the tomb and find the thieves. Ranofer also said that he had found a golden goblet. He said, “It is in my brother’s stone cutting shop-in the stone room-but it is hidden.”
His frozen corpse was accidentally discovered by hikers back in 1991, along with his clothing and equipment. The 5,300-year-old mummy was so well preserved that scientists have been able to piece together the puzzle of how he lived and his equally fascinating death.
To start off with, the stone could not have possibly be stolen because it weighs a lot. The estimated volume of the stone that was found repeatedly was 24 ft^3.
In his view, of all the languages written on the stone, the most important writing was the Egyptian writing. He discusses how "each scholar was eager to be the first to decipher the mysterious hieroglyphs." Giblim tells his reader that due to the important work of these

First, the reading states that the Native American site in Maine where the coin was discovered is located very far from other sites documenting a Norse presence in North America. The professor opposes this point by saying that other objects were found also far away from their orignal site. The professor explains that Native Americans were travelling for long distances to obtain objects far away from their places. So, the
Though this was never confirmed and the artifact was found with other artifacts dating around 1670-1720. However Phelps never tested the ring. And in April 2017, it was announced by Charles Ewen, who tested the ring, found that it was all brass and not gold. Ewen said it’s probably a common item that was traded to the Natives after lost colony disappeared (Lawler). This was yet another dead end in the quest to mystery of the lost
Cyberbully: A word that you may see repeatedly in news and social media, even maybe you or your friends have been a victim of this phenomenon. A survey among 131 undergraduate students (73 female and 57 male) in a US university with an undergraduate population of less than 10000 students shows that fifty-four percent of all respondents reported knowing someone who had been cyberbullied (Walker et al.183).
Fortnite is a video game that came out between 2017-2018. The video game has grown popular over the past couple months. Every young male has bought fortnite for their game system. They play the game like it’s a ritual. There’s nothing a person can do to get them off the game. I believe it brainwashes people because they play the game for hours through a day. It has basically trumped all the other video games. I never seen such a wide range of young males play a game like Fortnite for so long. There are some older males that play the video game as well. It is a video game that most teens play with their group of friends.
No place has generated so much speculation and wild theories as the standing stones of Stonehenge. After traveling for miles through the rolling hills and plains of the English countryside the sight of this unusual structure made me gasp. A walk around it only provoked more strange feelings. There's a sense that this is something very important. For over 5000 years it has stood silent vigil over the
The “who’s,” “how’s,” and “why’s” behind this majestic monument are based on many (usually conflicting) myths, guesstimates, and theories. As a result, we have no definite answers for the probing questions about Stonehenge’s existence. However, each theory grants the Neolithic monument its character and mystique, as well as society’s best guesses as to its true origin and purpose. Therefore, I shall proceed to discuss both the fantastical and probable theories behind the mystery of Stonehenge.

In Mark 16.3-4, there is some discussion about who is going to move the stone, and then they realize that the stone has already been moved. Luke also finds the stone rolled back once they approach. Matthew has a completely different version of the removal of the stone. In Matthew 28.2, there was a great earthquake and an angel came down from heaven, rolled back the stone and sat down on the stone. Mark and Luke leave some mystery in the removal of the stone, while Matthew describes an act of divine intervention which removes the stone. The accounts of what was in the tomb are varying extremely from gospel to gospel.
