Social norms are the standards that are viewed as acceptable by a group of individuals or by society. Individuals look to conform because they do not want to be looked down upon. In most occasions when an individual does not conform they will be excluded from the group. A group is a sense of security to most individuals, therefore when they are left without a group to conform with, they will feel isolated. We will be conducting a study, analyzing the reaction of complete strangers conforming to the social norms expected at a shopping mall to individuals who are not conforming to the social norm by acting silly and breaking these norms. For this last experiment, we chose to wait an hour in between to go back to the same area where we performed each of our simulations earlier. Following our holding up period, we then returned to the same area where my partner then performed her quirky dancing while listening to her headphones. Along with her peculiar moves she continued to mouth the songs she was dancing too. This recreation by far had the best reactants. Jennifer, continued to dance for a few more minutes, until we decided that we could proceed to switching roles and have me recreate that same simulation. However, just as we had planned earlier we moved to the other end of the shopping center in order for me to be able to execute my social norm violation. Despite, the crowd of people, I performed my end of the experiment for a good three minutes.
