Helping is human nature and a very satisfying feeling to assist somebody in need. Aiding individuals in destitution is an ongoing circumstance that continues to grow with society. Just listening to a person’s problem might provide reassurance that things can improve. Supporting others as a volunteer is an honorable and very exhilarating experience. The state of Delaware fire service relies on volunteers and career staff, to get the emergency equipment to the scene. All volunteers are individuals who give up their personal time to assist the public, and these dedicated, trained professionals abandon everything to respond an alarm. Fire Stations in Delaware employ full and part time staff to make sure the community has complete coverage when an emergency occurs. On arrival, we find her sitting in the car not alert, after removing her from the vehicle I started a full assessment inside the ambulance. Fireboard dispatched the medics due to possible internal issues with no signs of obvious trauma. With no signs of obvious trauma, a head to toe assessment required the removal of her clothing. As I went to remove her clothing including her bra strap, I got hit in the head by her chest knocking me back in my seat. The medics arrived and did their assessment to find out she was a diabetic. In conclusion, being a volunteer takes a lot of time and dedication to the community and its populace. Volunteering’s core is helping others who need assistance in their time of need, it is a very important contribution to today’s society. The training and dedication that goes into being a volunteer is very satisfying experience, not every person will encounter. Getting involved and staying involved in some sort of capacity is a necessity as I have proven through my many years’ volunteer
Volunteering is something I love doing, I enjoy helping others that struggle with certain things. I love volunteering because I love giving back to the community and helping others. Communicating and making connections with people is very important because it can make a difference in people's lives and you can also have the opportunity to meet new and interesting people. Volunteering is a great opportunity for you to gain skills and experience working in teams. Volunteering can change someone's life a whole lot, you are doing something for someone that they struggle to do. I fit into the Volunteer community through babysitting at church, translating, and volunteering at the OKFD
In order to be a volunteer, one must first realize that volunteering is a serious matter. The
As a volunteer I've learned the value of service to others and to the community, and I've seen the impact it has on those involved. I’ve seen so many people, especially through church outreach, positively affected by those who use their time and talents to serve others. Although volunteering has benefited me externally in many ways, such as my Eagle Scout Project and NHS hours, I’ve also gained a greater understanding of who I am as a person. I’ve learned how important service is and how it can benefit myself and others around
Volunteering gives me the opportunity to be there for someone and to change people’s lives including my own. Volunteering to me is a way of giving back to the community or someone in need of help. For as long as I can remember I have always had the passion for helping people especially children and the aged, thus my interest in nursing. Any opportunity to perform an act of kindness made me happy that at least I could be of help to someone. From taking care of my siblings and cousins, babysitting, helping friends and among others. Of the many goals I have in life the most important one is to provide help to those in need through my commitment of service. I volunteered at a daycare school closer to me and
Many people don’t realize the true value of volunteering, but I’ve come to understand the incredible impact of volunteering through my experience at Memorial Hermann. Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” For me, his words could not be truer.
When one volunteers, it is not for their personal gain, yet rather for the benefit of others. The volunteering opportunity would enable one to make a direct connection with others. Thus, the volunteers get
However for younger people, who may be interested in a career in healthcare, it can be an opportunity to gain experience to help them to make much more informed career choices. Consequently a key aspect of volunteer involvement in the NHS is
Volunteerism has always been an extensive aspect of my character and pertains to much of what I do within my community. Through actively engaging myself in Calgary, I have come to discover the problems we face and what I can do as an individual to spread smiles. My passion and dedication for igniting positive change around me is what allowed me to participate in volunteer activities all over my city and within my school. Through realizing my potential as a human being to spread positivity in the world, I began volunteering in school clubs and being a central member of peer support and discovered the significance of volunteering and it has inspired me to believe in the power of a helping hand.
Discourses have powerful social effects and can empower some, while marginalizing others. In the texts Lost Property and Muriel’s Wedding the dominant discourse is relationship. The audience is positioned to see Josh Tambling from Lost Property as having tough relationships as he is the one who is expected to pull through. While Muriel Heslop from Muriel’s Wedding is portrayed as unreliable and selfish as the story is told.
Time is a valuable item to most people, but taking time to help other is much more precious. No matter how a person devotes their time volunteering, they will benefit, as well as the persons or person they have helped. The effects of volunteering are: becoming more humble, seeing the happiness volunteering brings to others, and developing excellent social skills. As Erma Bombeck once said, “Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love for one another” (“Volunteering at FineQuotes”). She describes volunteering just as it should be. We should love one another and take care of each other instead of tearing each other apart. Volunteering is something everybody should try at least one time in their life. Volunteering has magnificent benefits and is time well

Volunteering in your community helps solve many dilemmas in your community that descend through the eyes of government and social agencies (Everything you ever wanted to know about volunteering).
There is a common misconception that those who volunteer do it as a result of a consequence typically assigned to them as a result of a negative behavior. Many walk into a volunteering experience with low expectations, lacking the motivation to acquire anything from the community service, but soley for the purpose to retain hours to have signed off on a sheet of paper. Generally, expecations upon arrival are low and volunteers walk into the assigned service hoping to do the bare minimum and are constantly looking over at the clock eagerly in hopes of turning hours into minutes. Instead of exhausting most of your energy on pondering how much longer will it be until one can leave, enjoy the opportunity presented to learn and to become a better individual that is alloted through this experience. As a volunteer, if you walks in with the mentality of how unpleaseant they assume the experience to be and how you would much rather be spending their time doing other things, one will truly never acquire anything from the experience itself. We deem many things to be more vital in our day to day lives than to help someone in need whose life will be touched. By coming involved within the community and taking part of changing someone's life for the better you too will find yourself experiencing a drastic change in how you go about life, the way you express yourself, how compassionate you are towards others. Volunteering comes with many benefits such as making an impact in the lives of
This is dedicated to you. I sigh and pick at my food. I don’t want to think about it. I don’t want to think about any of it. However, I will. I’ll think about it, I’ll ponder it. I will obsess over it, I will work myself up and I will get angry and be emotional, I will not be your quiet toy, I will not be your damsel in distress. I am more than that.
Understanding these reasons for volunteering, is important and could give us concrete answers as to why people would participate in long-term volunteering.
