One fairer than my love? The all-seeing sun ne’er saw her match since first the world begun.” You can see that Romeo is using rhymed verse. *They were both in Verona but one was way back in the early days of verona and the other was in modern times but those settings made the two stories very different. The setting of Romeo and Juliet complemented the story being told. It made it look like the people really spoke to one another like that and made me feel like I was really there. On the other hand, Romeo + Juliet makes it look and sound like the whole setting of the movie is a joke. They have the movie set in modern times but are using the old language and it doesn't mix well at all.
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story both have a lot in common as well as major differences that set them apart. Although West Side Story is a direct rendition of Shakespeare's original play, many of the themes and symbols are altered to fit the modern perspective. The characters have a direct correlation to each other, yet racial issues give them a new light. Many of the events also reflect each other, yet small differences give them uniqueness. West Side Story differs from Romeo and Juliet in characterizations, plot sequences, and themes.
The clearest similarity is the feud between the two families. The classic story of Romeo and Juliet revolves around the two young lovers who struggle to stay together, because of the feud between their families. The two’s families have been in a feud for years, Romeo belongs to the Montague family and Juliet belongs to the Capulet family, and both families despise each other. Since the families hate each other so much Romeo and Juliet, or Gnomeo and Juliet, are forced to hide their love. Viewers compare both play and film to be similar, but also believe they show distinct differing interpretations of character and growth, plot structure, setting and themes. The main difference in the plot structure between ROMEO AND JULIET and ROMEO MUST DIE would fall in place of the lives of the characters, the NFL-ownership deal and abandonment of family. For example, ROMEO MUST DIE was based on an
There are many similarities and differences between the sixties version of Romeo and Juliet and the modern version of Romeo and Juliet. It is very easy to spot these differences considering the time period each movie was set in. There are some things in the play that totally got cut from both movies. There are also some things that they added to the movies that weren’t in the play. Let us get on to the similarities and differences.
First, there are many differences that are able to be spotted from the written play versus the video of the play. The biggest difference that can be found from the two different versions of Romeo and Juliet is changes that take place throughout the plot. The play was written in a different time period than when the movie was filmed. The original play was written in the lake 1500’s by William Shakespeare whereas, the first movie was filmed in 1968. Therefore, the different time periods can be a part of the reason for differences found in the plot from the written play and film of the play. For example, in the book Romeo goes to
William Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet," set in 16th century Verona, Italy shares differences with Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet," set in modern day Verona Beach. These stories contain the same characters and conflict, however major and minor discrepancies are galore in the story lines of both formats of William Shakespeare's creation. Some major inconsistencies occur, such as Mercutio dying at a beach, portrayed as a hero, instead of being at a bar, looking like a fool, Friar Lawrence's letter is successfully sent to Romeo by mail carriers, however he does not have the opportunity to read it, unlike in the play version, where Romeo does not get the letter from Friar John, and is told the news by Balthazar, and nobody
Some of these similarities come between Romeo + Juliet (1996), and Romeo and Juliet (1968). Both of these productions are movies, and such allows the viewer to get a better visual experience of the script by Shakespeare. Two two of these share many qualities, such as the Montagues and Capulets being two of the wealthiest houses in Verona, and a very open conflict between each other. The two of these also share some contrast. In the 1968 film, both houses were Caucasian, however, in the 1996 film, there is an ethnic difference between the Montagues, who are white, and the Capulets, who are Hispanic, except for Juliet and Juliet’s direct family. Another difference is that the fight between the houses in the 1996 version was more gang-related, violent, and involves the use of firearms, while the 1968 version is a chivalrous conflict, and cheap swords, not guns, are used. What’s also the same between these two is that the setting in both of these have hot climates. Rome, Italy, which is where the 1968 version was filmed, typically has warmer temperatures year-round. Los Angeles, California, where the 1996 film was set has hot and dry temperatures and weather, especially in the

Some famous versions of its duplication are in the 1968 and 2013 movies “Romeo and Juliet”. A good scene to use for comparison is the death scene at the end of the story. Romeo and Juliet compared to West Side Story can be contrasted and compared. These are the four different plot events that were taken in the movies (West Side Story) and (Romeo And Juliet.) One of the events that took place was at the beginning of the play where all the crews hated each other. They were similar because, in Romeo and Juliet, the Capulets and the Montagues hated each other for a while because they were constantly fighting over stupid things and did not get along well. Same with the Jets and the sharks except the Jets were constantly picking on them because they were different from the rest. Another event that took place was when the two lovers met for the first time. In Romeo and Juliet, They met at the masquerade ball where it was a Capulets party and people had to dress up fancy and put on a mask on their face which covered their face and could not tell who was a Montague and a Capulet. The Montagues were not invited but Romeo found out through a messenger and he was in “love” with Rosaline. Romeo brought his best friend, Mercutio, and his cousin, Benvolio. Romeo and Juliet met through a dance and they talked for a while privately. Later on, Romeo and his crew decided to leave because one of the Capulet found out that he and his crew were Montagues. There were guards everywhere but they did not get caught. This is Romeo and Juliet side of the story. In West Side Story, Tony and Maria meet for the first time at the neutral gym where the sharks and the jets
