It was now my 12th birthday and I was so excited because I was going to have a huge party at the Kosher Deli restaurant. I woke up early, got breakfast and took a shower, we would have to get to the restaurant early so that we could set everything up. Once in my dress, I went over my speech as my mother did my hair. I had worked on the speech all week so that I would get it just right. Earlier that week, my family and I had gone to a lot of stores to pick up flowers and dress clothes. Finding the right dress took a little longer than I thought, but getting the flowers were simple. Everyone had gone into the store and my mom and I went to the back to pick out the roses. I picked out the purple ones that were slightly opened. Afterward, we …show more content…
They had lots of foods from Israel. The store had candies, wines, kosher meats, and some things for the holidays like dreidels and Shabbos candles.
After a while, the guests started to show up and sit where they were told. My father took pictures of me with all the guests. Once everyone was there, people started making their speeches. At first, I was calm, but then It was my turn to make a speech. My speech talked about my "journey to adulthood" and my ideas of how to help the world once I finish my studies. I was so nervous, that during my speech my sister, who had also made a speech, had to come up twice to tell me to be louder! I was a little choked up after my parent's speech telling me how much they cared and how proud of me they were. Once I finished, the guests all applauded and I was very happy and only slightly nervous.
After I sat down people uncovered the food and we ate. After that, my Mother picked up a box with purple ribbon that she set next to the podium before the party. She hadn't told me what was inside, so I was eager to find out. She had told everyone that there was one thing left to do before cake, and that was to release the butterflies. We all went outside and we were each handed a small clear envelope with two butterflies in it. Everyone ripped open their envelope and the butterflies came out. Some butterflies hung out on the porch table for a little while. Soon, all of them took off for the flower
All week my parents have been hinting a trip this weekend. It was Friday night and I was laying wide awake in my bed, staring at my white ceiling. It was 2 am and my mind was racing and excitement ran through my veins. Unfortunately, my parents are constantly working, so they never really take me places. I had turned thirteen last week and this was my birthday present. Could it be an amusement park? I really love roller coasters. Or maybe an arcade? Playing video games is my favorite thing to do. My mind began thinking of anything and everything until I eventually drifted into a buoyant slumber.
The sky was always blue holding sunshine rays in her world. Her name was Rosaline Deponte, my great-grandma. The continuous smile that she showed on her face reminded us how precious life is and to not take things for granted. Cold wood floors that could easily freeze toes, single-walled construction, shut rows of jalousie windows, and the smell of warm sweet bread on the counter 24/7, that was Rosaline’s house.
It was a bright, sunny day. Kids came spewing out of houses like bugs. I remember that day, it was so perfect as if nothing could go wrong. I knew it was going to be an exciting and exhilarating day. Coincidentally, there was a birthday party. One of my closest friend is holding a party filled with delicious food and joyful smiles. The house was decorated with streamer and balloons. Balloons of every color imaginable. As the smell of BBQ wafted around the neighborhood , laughter was heard all around. There was even a little kiddie pool crowded with toddlers and teenagers trying to splash each other. My best
We all sat down and talked. We talked about how everyone has been. My sisters school and my brothers new job. While we were talking there was another knock on the door. I went to go open the door and it was the pizza and the wings. I payed for them and grabbed the boxes and walked into the kitchen where my family was. Everyone was really hungry but my family really wanted me to see the big surprise they got for me. SO we agreed we would go outside to see what they got me. We went outside when I saw what they got me I almost cried in joy. My family got me the same looking motorcycle that was on my cake. It was a black Kawasaki Ninja 2017. It had a nice leather seat. The lights were bright white and it was really shinny. But I had one question.
This morning, I woke up to my mommy, daddy, and brother, Jacob, pounding on my door screaming, “Surprise.” Was it my sixth birthday? Had I honestly not remembered today was my day to shine? No, I knew it was not my birthday. So, what could my parents possibly be surprising me for?
That night we celebrated with more than just friends and family, we celebrated with people who had invested their own time in me; people who made me successful and people who gave of themselves to see me through. I look back at what my parents did for me when I was younger and I now see the love and commitment they put into me. It was not clear to me at the time but...
Soon after that my sister and dad awoke, it was time to celebrate! I had my favourite breakfast, scrumptious waffles, with vibrant berries. The sweet wafts of syrup scented heat made my mouth water. Since we were going to celebrate my birthday in the evening, me and my sister decide to play some games to pass the time. We played Monopoly and Jenga! Our Monopoly game felt like it lasted for ages because the game could go on forever. She ended up winning, she had five hotels! Then we played Jenga. It took us some time to build the tower because I kept knocking it over by
“How you doing honey?” Jared's mom said smiling down at Jared. Jared just finished packing his bag.
As my curly-wavy long brown hair lands back on my back from grabbing the nice warm, airy croissant with the sweet smell of warmth and honey butter hits my nose. I knew my brother was not as smart as he seems.
At 6:00 am I rose up from a deep sleep on a Monday morning ready to get the day started. Getting up I get dressed, eat breakfast, and head for the bus. At school everything is pretty supposed and calm, my friends keep asking what I want for my birthday which is Friday. I told them all I want is to stay home, sleep, and eat some candy. At the end of the day I get on the bus and head home, I get home around 4:00 pm on the way, from the bus stop I check the mail when I get in the house I lay the mail on the kitchen counter. I head upstairs and get comfortable and use the bathroom. I went downstairs to get a snack and I see a letter on the counter, with my name on it, I take the letter with me upstairs with my snack. While eating my, I open up the letter and it states “ your sharp, aching death is upon you”. All I feel is an intense pain in my stomach and I ran to the bathroom as I look in the mirror I see nothing, not nobody. While looking in the mirror, seeing nothing I get the urge to puke, so I ran to the toilet. Leaning over the toilet with my eyes close barfing my guts out. As I open my eyes, I see that puke up blood I hurried up and ran to my brother's room. Banging on his door to come to my room when he reaches my room, I handed him the letter, he read silently with no expression. “Serena, what I’m suppose to be reading?” my brother says “your suppose to being that I suppose to have a cold aching death upon me” I said. We go back and forth arguing over what we read on
It was Saturday, April 27, 2016, and I had just woken up from a long, hard sleep. It was about 9:30 AM, and my arm was still aching from getting my annual shots the day before. Every year, I dread going to the doctor's office to get these shots. They make my body feel significantly weak, and they always make me sick to my stomach. It was the weekend of my birthday, so I was planning on having my friend, Melanie, over to have dinner with us and to spend the night. I usually have a big party to invite all of my friends to, but I just wasn’t feeling well enough. My mom said that it was fine for her to stay with us, and at that point, I knew my weekend was going to be great.
The day after my 9th birthday was unforgettable. It was horrifying. It all started on the day of my birthday. I was rushing out of the doorway tripping over my own feet just to get in the car. It was July 19th 2015 and we were headed to Great wolf lodge to celebrate my birthday. My mom told me I could bring three friends. I new I wanted to bring my friends Ashley and Jenna. They were about the same age as me. I also picked a friend from school and her name was Madison.
The incident took place three days after my birthday. I have received an assortment of condolences in my lifetime, but this one definitively trounced its comrades.
I woke up early Saturday morning excited yet very nervous. It was July twenty-second which meant the day I found out if I could really ride. My boyfriend Zach and a couple of buddies from work decided that a trip to Haspin was the perfect way to celebrate Josh’s twenty-first birthday. It was supposed to be a big group that would go but ended up just being five us.
Then my mom did something very surprising. She took me by the hand and led me to the family room. I could not believe my eyes. Sitting on the floor was the most beautiful twenty short sleeved outfits I had ever seen.
