Trent Shelton said “ The right decisions are always the hardest to make. But they must be made in order to live the life you deserve “. What Trent really means is everyone has to make a decision to live a better life. For example, moving to America makes my life a lot better than living in Thailand refugee camp. Sometime I was wondering what would happen to me and my family if we didn’t come to America? If my family had not made a decision of coming to America, I probably will not make it into college. Some of the things that would be different between my life in America and my life in Thailand are my education, my home and my rights. First, education between America and Thailand is totally different. For example, my school in Thailand doesn’t …show more content…
They are made with bamboo. People have to rebuild their house every year because the house was made of bamboo and the bamboo would rot every year. Thai government give us a new bamboo every year so we could rebuild our house. But that’s not enough for some of the family like mine. To get more bamboo we have to buy it from other people. You are not allowed to go to the rain forest and cut down the bamboo. If the Thai soldier caught you doing that, you probably would end up in jail. In Thailand refugee camp there was not proper running water or electricity. In Thailand, people had been sleeping on bamboo but some people can afford the mattress. My grandma can afford so she get to sleep on it. However, the house in America are awesome and strong. You don’t have to worry about rebuilding it every year. I have everything I need or want in my house. For example, mattress, computer and electricity and much more. The houses in America are not made of bamboo so they are very strong and pretty. Some of the houses in America are very big and fancy. If my family did not made a decision of coming to America, we won’t be able to live in such a great house with great shelter. Plus, I would never get to sleep on a soft mattress like I do right now in
The people in America are given something that not everybody's given. A chance to be successful and to survive, and most countries are not given that chance. Being in America offers a lot to the people. One of the most important right America offers to America is the chance to be ourselves and to live in a place were small wars are not going on between states or communities. The U.S. gives us a chance to be fed. The people in America are not surrounded by a majority of starving people. Instead we have one of the most powerful economy in the world.
I walked around unsteadily all day like a lost baby, far away from its pack. Surrounded by unfamiliar territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with my previous country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting to just get away and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America.
Prior to moving to the United States, my life was less challenge and much easier. I was not an independent person. I did not know to do a lot of things in the past. For instance, I could not cook, I never took bus, I did not know where to get an ID or a driver license, and I was not sure where to fix my scooter if it was broken. I simply made a phone call to either my father or my mother, and they handled everything for me. I could have done all the above things, but I did not want to because it was nice to have my parents take care of me. Additionally, I often spent time with my family and friends. We planned cook-out dinners, baby showers
I've been meaning to write, but work has been mighty tiring. Sally and I are in good health thanks be to God. I was also blessed to find both lodging and gainful employment. Our living arrangements are modest. Sally and I share two rooms in an attic for which we pay $4 a month. We live in what is called tenement housing. It is rather dark and it gets hot enough during the summer that we escape to the roof for respite from the heat. There is also the spread of disease to worry about. Sally and I have been lucky enough to avoid getting sick, but with people living so close to together and houses being packed closer together than sardines I fear that our luck will run out soon. We try our best to keep our home tidy, but there is not much we can
I have chosen essay topic number three. Describe a time when you realized something was not as it seemed and how it affected you.
As a young kid, growing up in Pakistan was challenging, but it was even more of a challenge moving to America and adapting to everything. I was born in Pakistan, in a lower-middle class family, where i was attending a private school. My family didn’t really have much, we lived a simple life and going to a private school was very costly. My parents always wanted me and my sister to get the best education we can possibly get so they sent us both to a Private school, although we knew they could barely afford it.
The places people grew up are significant to the development of the person they’re today. In my life travelling from state to state has helped develop me into a more understanding person of how the world works in different ways. In my travels of moving from Hawaii, Maryland, California and now Florida, I have been engulfed in all the United States has to offer from these very different places. The travels I took were built upon the culture, the sights, and the education from these states.
Having come from a different country, the ways of the life and speech and culture are different from what I thought will be the same or like this country. I was born in Georgia, Atlanta but raised in Nigeria. My family is from Nigeria, and it is a country in West Africa. I went back to Nigeria when I was two years old to learn culture and ways of life. Nigeria has 250 ethnic group and 520 languages.
Could you ever imagine leaving behind everything you love and going to an unknown world just to have a better life and opportunity? Though this was a tough decision to make, my family and I had to leave behind everything, including all my relatives and friends just so we could all have a new and better beginning. I am from the Chin land of Burma with a population of approximately 478,801. For centuries, Chin people have undergone the brutal treatment of the Burmese soldiers and government. Because of this, Chin State has the highest poverty rate and many Chin people have lost our language.
The United States is made up of immigrants. People have been migrating for years trying to obtain the American dream. In other countries people are less fortunate than us here in America. It is hard for them to be successful. It is also hard for them to provide for their families.
Those who immigrate to another country have many reasons for why they want to leave the country where they are from. Religious freedom would be one reason someone might want to immigrate from their home country. Another someone might want to immigrate would be the opportunities that the united states has to offer, here in the united states we have so many job opportunities that are welcome for anyone to apply for. When moving from another country to America those people think they will get a job just for migrating here that is not the case, most people who migrate here are uneducated and have little to no work experience. Last would be survival, survival has been key to foreigners who migrate.
Immigration has been occurring for several years now. Many people do it because they have to migrate to another country by force and others do it because they believe that in the new country they have better opportunities than in their homeland. I got the opportunity to interview one of the many people who have migrated to the U.S. One of the main influences in moving to the U.S would be the economy because people move here to find jobs in which their homeland did not have. They had to come survive somewhere, especially if they had another mouth to feed.
As a young child, I was raised in my home country of Mexico where I had many great friends and a joyful style of living. However, my parents didn't see life in Mexico as fortunate as I did. To them it was more important whether we were economically stable, rather than playing every afternoon with neighbors. My parents believed our way of living in Mexico wasn't stable and there were very few opportunities of becoming successful in a country where you don't live life, but survive life. Therefore, my parents were encouraged to make the decision of moving to the United States for a better style of living.
My family comes from China, so does I. Not until the age of eight, I moved to the United States to start a new life. I never thought of moving to America, I will find the interest of getting to learn different cultures around me. I grew up in Fuzhou, China. I had never travel out of this place before, I lived here throughout my childhood. Fuzhou was not a bad place, at least I enjoy it here.
My story starts in the year of 2003, when I decided to follow up on my
