A. Ender was a morally good person because he decided to pick up the bugger cocoon and search for a right place for it to thrive.
B. “And always Ender carried with him a dry white cocoon, looking for the world where the hive-queen could awaken and thrive in peace.” (Scott 226) Ender was exploring a bugger world after they had all been wiped out and found a queen bugger cocoon. He decided to carry the cocoon with him until he found a suitable place for it to grow and thrive. This shows he is morally good because after wiping them all out of existence he tries to right his wrongs by trying to find a place for the buggers to grow peacefully.
IV. Ender is the “hero” archetype in the novel, Ender’s Game. Ender saved all of mankind by destroying the bugger planet and showed that he was in fact a morally good person by protecting the bugger cocoon and trying to find a good place for it to thrive after he had wiped them out. These reasons would classify him as the “hero” archetype which is an archetype that ends up saving many people and also is a morally good person while doing
After Ender’s important battle, they tell him that all of it was real and that he had actually defeated the buggers. Ender thinks to himself, “Real. Not a game. Ender’s mind was too tired to cope with it all. They weren’t just points of light in the air, they were real ships that he had fought with and real ships he had destroyed. And a real world that he had blasted into oblivion. He walked through the crowd, dodging their congratulations, ignoring their hands, their words, their rejoicing” (Card 297). When Ender realizes that they have been lying to him and using him as a weapon, he becomes angry. Ender yells at Graff and Mazer, “‘ I didn’t want to kill them all. I didn’t want to kill anybody! I’m not a killer! You didn’t want me, you bastards, you wanted Peter, but you made me do it, you tricked me into it!’” (Card 297). If Ender would have known that he would have killed people and creatures, he would not have gone to battle school in the first place. Death is very hard on Ender and he does not know how he can live with such a burden. Ender’s change in character is due to him being a victim of
By looking at the deception within Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, we can see that Ender
Young kids can be easily affected by their surroundings. They learn from the roles of their teachers and their fellow students and peers. This is clearly demonstrated in Ender’s Game, a science fiction novel written by Orson Scott Card. It shows how Ender Wiggin, a very young boy, is put into a position of leadership and what he learns through this experience, Through a computer game, Ender learns that he is a very clever killer. Through his experience as commander, Ender learns that being strict will help him be a better leader and win games. Finally, his experience with Shen and Bernard teaches Ender that having humor will easily allow him to make friends. Overall, Ender’s experience in Battle School teaches him many things about
At the beginning of the novel, Ender wants to be a normal kid, so that his brother will like him and be his friend. Two government officials, who have watched Ender his whole life, are talking about Ender’s personality and say “He’s too malleable. Too willing to submerge himself
Ender's game essay BIn the novel “Ender's Game” by Orson Scott Card, Ender “the third” is supposed to be the balance between two extreme personalities, one being very altruistic, compassionate attributed to his sister Valentine, and the other being very cruel and heartless attributed to his brother Peter. By the end of the novel Ender's personality is more like Valentine. This is shown by the empathy he always shows towards others, and how he constantly reasses his character to make sure he doesn’t take on the attributes of Peter. Ender reflects on his character in chapter 1 after fighting with Stilson and it hurts him to realize he did something Peter would have done. An example of this is in the first chapter "I am just like Peter.
This almost does look like Ender is at fault here, but Ender was getting ganged up on and he had to stand his ground. Ender knew if e didn't really hurt the Stilson boy and make a point they would continue vigorously verbally and physically attacking him. Ender Wiggin, a standout throughout his schooling years and throughout his battle school, has to make tough choices whether they are good or bad, still, Ender is very much a representative of everything good. He is filled with sorrow for any destruction he causes and wishes no ill to any other creature, but still, he is forced to harm others and the buggers for the satisfaction of the adults. He is good because he is kind, but he is also good because he makes the sacrifices that he has to make.
When it comes to little boys, Ender isn't any ordinary one, killing a whole species isn't what I would call ordinary. Ender's game is a space Sci-fi, written by Orson Scott Card. The theme of the book is forgiveness, because of how Ender's enemy forgave him, how even the biggest mistakes can be forgiven, and how Ender goes out of his way for forgiveness.
Ender has struggled to find his identity several times throughout the story. For example, “I can’t beat them, “ Ender said softly. “I’ll be out there like Mazer Rackham one day, and everybody will be depending on me, and I won’t be able to do it” (p. 241). Ender shows how he starts to doubt both his skills and capabilities as a leader. He feels unfit for the job despite his results in battle school and in Eros with Mazer
Ender’s game by Orson Scott Card is a science fiction novel that takes place in the future and involves a kid named Ender, the protagonist of the story. He is sent to battle school to defeat the buggers (the enemies) with many other kids who are put through lots of challenges. The government has picked Ender who is 6 years old and is a third child, his older siblings were not selected by the government because his sister, Valentine, is too kind and compassionate while his older brother,Peter, is ruthless and hot-tempered. Ender is both a monster and a hero because he’s half Peter and half Valentine.
The protagonist, Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, begins as a six-year-old boy who is always terrorized by his brother. Ender never gives up, even when it seems like everyone is trying to make him fail. He is young, however, which leaves him susceptible to bullies who detest his quick mind. Although Ender proves that he has the ability to be a killer like Peter, he hates himself for that. “And then a worse fear, that he was a killer, only better at it than Peter ever was; that it was this very trait that pleased the
This novel is about a brilliant military strategist, Ender Wiggin, whose story takes place in the future where there is a constant threat of an invasion from aliens who have been given the slanderous nickname, Bugger. After many years of monitoring Ender the International Fleet decides they want to recruit Ender into Battle
Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card is about a boy named Ender Wiggin. When he is 6 years old he is taken from his home to go train in a place called Battle School to fight aliens, or “buggers”. He learns to command an army and plays games to train for the battle against the buggers. When the game is over, Ender learns it isn’t a game at all and they have won the war against the buggers. Two themes in this books are “Life isn’t always going to be fair”, and “Make the best of what you have.” These two themes are in the book because Ender has to deal with having a horrible army to train and the teachers aren’t fair to Ender at all.
Ender’s Game is consistently listed as one the masterpieces of the science fiction genre. Since the novel’s publication in 1986, Ender’s Game has captured the attention and adoration of readers throughout the world. A sci-fi drama that came out in the final, heated years of the Cold War, Ender’s Game is an allegorical tale for that very time period. After the Second World War two incredibly powerful nations emerged and became locked in a battle over which belief system (capitalism or communism) was best. The United States (USA) and the Soviet Union (USSR) tried to show their superiority over the other in a myriad of ways, the most notable being the space race. The space race made the world shift their focus from being earth bound to thinking much more about the stars in the heavens above. The space race inspired many authors which lead to an explosion of new works in the science fiction genre, eventually leading to Ender’s Game’s publication. Card uses the main character Ender to represent the United States, the dynamics between adults and children to represent the relationship between the United States government and its citizens, the alien species called Buggers to represent the Soviet Union, and the final battle in the novel to represent the downfall of the Soviet Union. Ender’s Game allegorizes Cold War politics and how Orson Scott Card viewed the Cold War would come to an end in a fantastical, entertaining tale.
Ender grew up in a harsh and belligerent society, run by a secretive and overly patriotic government. Because of Ender’s personality, he began to empathize with his own enemies, but still fought them, albeit somewhat reluctantly. Due to the conflicting emotions of empathy and hostility, Ender’s mind began to wither with the thought of the damage he had done to another race. Ender’s militaristic and desperate society forces him to unwillingly commit genocide to an extent where Ender’s withering and empathetic mind begins to question the consequences of his
