In this particular adaptation of Emma, Emma is portrayed through the character Cher. Cher is also a meddler in other people’s lives. This sets the film up for an interesting and developing plot. Cher Horowitz illuminates Emma Woodhouse because they both exist in that precarious realm where lovable threatens to tip over into loathsome, but doesn’t. Emma Watson was born on April 15, 1990 in the "City of Love," Paris, France. Today, she is a successful young woman, at her age of 25 having appeared in various movies and organizations. Watson, perhaps best known for her role as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter movie series, began to branch out at the release of the last Harry Potter movie in 2011, shedding the innocent image of the bright young witch so many associate her with and taking to more venturesome roles, starring in movies such as My Week with Marilyn (2011), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), and The Bling Ring (2013). Watson has been the receiver of prestigious acting awards, such as the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year, won in 2014, and the National Movie Award for Best Performance by a Female in 2007, for her role in the movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as well as the GQ Woman of the Year Award. In July 2014, Watson became UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, and helped launch the campaign HeForShe, which promotes gender equality and the empowerment of women.
A Comparison of Emma by Jane Austen and Movie Clueless The film Clueless, written and directed by Amy Heckerling, is an adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Emma and closely parallels the story in terms of character development and action. Although Emma was written in 1816 and developed ideas and issues of that period in time, 180 years on we can still recognize and identify with the exact same issues. This just proves that despite all the radical social changes that have taken place since Jane Austen's time, people and life haven't really changed all that much. The general life issues of money, love, friendship, class and finding ones place in the world are raised in both texts.
Emma, is the story of the education and growth process of Emma. Throughout majority of the novel, Emma involves herself in bad situations in which she misconstrues facts and blinds herself from the truth, at the expense of others. After Emma has discovered that she has been terribly wrong about Mr. Elton, and she was mistaken to encourage Harriet's affection of him, Emma says, "It was foolish, it was wrong to take so active a part in bringing two people together, it was adventuring too far, assuming too much, making light of what ought to be serious- a trick of what ought to be simple!." Emma
Characters in Emma are very realistic; they are round and dynamic in the sense that they have complicated interpersonal relationship and go through complex emotions and thoughts. Characters are not always believable because they are often too deeply attached to the Victorian manners, which makes them cover up their true emotions and thoughts with polite actions and flattery words.
Emma attended Stagecoach Theatre Art School in Oxford, where she studied singing, dancing, and acting. She performed in many small musicals and plays. When Emma was only eleven, she was offered an amazing opportunity. She had the chance to audition for the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films. This role would eventually bring her to the top. Emma’s teacher recommended Emma to the casting agents and Watson auditioned a total of eight times for the role. It wasn’t necessary, because from the first screen test, J.K Rowling, the author of the book series who was tremendously involved in the Harry Potter films, knew that she wanted Emma for the part. Emma was given the role and continued
In Emma Woodhouse, Jane Austen has created a wonderfully flawed heroine. Had Emma been perfect, her situation would have been of no interest to anyone; her flaws are what interest both reader and critic. Peter W. Graham is interested particularly with the first page of the novel where Emma is first introduced to the reader. He discusses how significant the beginning of the novel is to mapping out "Emma's personal development"(42). Walton A. Litz and Patricia Meyer Spacks are much more interested in what Emma's imagination shows about her development. Litz says that "[t]he basic movement of Emma is from delusion to self-recognition, from illusion to reality"(369). Spacks takes the opposite
In Austen’s one book Emma, tells the story of a young privileged girl named Emma Woodhouse. Emma is a young twenty-year-old, beautiful,
Emma Woodhouse, who begins the novel "handsome, clever, and rich, with a comfortable home and a happy disposition" (Austen 1), suffers from a dangerous propensity to play matchmaker, diving into other’s lives, for what she believes is their own good. Despite this, she is a sympathetic character. Her matchmaking leads only to near-disasters and her expressions of remorse following these mistakes are sincere and resolute. Jane Austen's Emma concerns the social milieu of a sympathetic, but flawed young woman whose self-delusion regarding her flaws is gradually erased through a series of comic and ironic events.
As I read through this verbose chapter I began to pick up on the dominating themes of celebrity culture and their development over time. I consider myself somewhat of a celebrity super fan but as I read I realized I have never dove deeper into the meaning of celebrity but merely skimmed the surface. During my perusal of the chapter many thought-provoking concepts jumped out at me.
Austen reveals how self-transformation is necessary in maturing and establishing self-awareness. Emma Woodhouse possesses qualities that many would envy: beauty, intelligence, wealth, and youth. However, the positive aspects of Emma are equally contrasted by her personality. The novels begins with a description of the protagonist, "The real evils, indeed, of Emma 's situation were the power of having too much her own way, and a disposition to think a little too well of herself: these were the disadvantages which threatened alloy to her many enjoyments."

A definitive term for celebrity is an iconic figure to a category or group who has achieved success in one or multiple aspects of their lives. As a result, these individuals have drawn in publicity and fame. Over the years with the advances in media and other forms of communication, celebrities have become topics of discussion worldwide, rather if it’s at school, with colleagues or at the dinner table, it is fair to say that
Even though she lives in the 21st Century, Emma Watson has similarities with a classical hero. First, she is very brave. During her career, a lot of people said bad things about her, and she had to be brave to deal with these commentaries. In 2011, for example, when she ended filming the
