What is an archetype? An archetype is a universal symbol, may be a character, a theme, a symbol or even a setting. (Literary Devices, 2016). Archetypes can be used to describe different types of people. People can be any type of archetype good or bad. They could even be a mix of all different kinds of archetypes. Of these different archetypes, there are two main categories heroes and villains. Heroes are for those who always seem to have a good side, villains for those evil masterminds you call your friends. I’ve taken these archetypes and applied them to my friend Emily. Emily is mostly hero, by 55%. She is also 45% villain, though. Her top Hero archetypes are the Boss with 15% and also the Librarian with 15%. Emily is a 15 % Boss because she takes charge when it comes to her grades and pushes herself to do the best she can. She is the Librarian because she is clever which shows in her grades, but she’s also controlled and knows when to hold back and when to keep quiet. Her top villain archetypes are the Matron, the Schemer, and the Matriarch. The reason Emily is a matron is because she uses other people's work to make what corrections are needed for hers to be turned in. Emily is a schemer …show more content…
However, this being said, I see myself as more of a hero than a villain. In the hero category, I see myself as mostly a spunky kid. The reason I see myself as a spunky kid is because I stand up for people who have problems standing up for themselves. In the villain category, I see myself as a crusader. The reason I see myself as a crusader, because I stand up for people who have problems standing up for themselves. In the villain category, I see only one archetype that describes me, which is the fanatic. The reason I see myself as a fanatic is because I might yell at someone for doing something they shouldn’t do, but I do it for the sake of the
Character Archetypes are varieties of human beings who possess certain qualities, based on their ambitions, fears, and ways of life.
An archetype is a model or ideal example in which other things are patterned. There are many archetypes that could represent many characters; but for my character, Haley Kincain, the caregiver archetype represents her the best. Haley represents a caregiver due to constantly caring for her father and his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, along with helping her friends with problems like divorce and bullying. I found her to be pragmatic, considerate and patient throughout the book.
An archetype is defined as an image, story-pattern, character, setting, symbol, or situation that recurs frequently in literature and in life. It demonstrates universal human experiences and associates strongly with readers through a subconscious understanding. In the Epic of Gilgamesh the main character, Gilgamesh, is an example of a superheroic archetypal hero. He took on an epic quest for everlasting life by following the archetypal steps of a hero’s journey. Through suffering due to tragedy, realizing the nature of his quest, seeking help from a mentor, experiencing failure, and returning home with a companion, Gilgamesh’s story followed the situational archetype of a hero’s journey.

Firstly, the main protagonist Bilbo Baggins sets a benchmark to the notion of an archetype hero. Kennedy, Gioia and Bauerlein describe an archetype as “a recurring symbol, character, landscape, or
An archetype is a pattern repeated through the ages in folk and literary expressions. Archetypes are important in literature because there everywhere. Odysseus looks strong and brave he is also very intelligent and nice and cares about his men. His behavior is very smart he doesn't do anything without thinking of the consequences. Odysseus is strong, brave ,and smart which are three critical characteristics of the “Hero” archetype.
Archetypes are expected examples of a person, action, or thing. In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, there are two archetypes I will discuss. The first archetype is the hero archetype, best portrayed by Christopher, the main character in the book. The second archetype is the evil figure with a good heart, best portrayed by Christopher’s dad, Ed Boone.
The different archetypes are the hero, mentor, shapeshifter, threshold guardian, trickster, shadow, herald, and allies. The hero is the driving force of the story, is willing to sacrifice for others and the character that the audience
What is an archetype? An archetype is a recurrent symbol or motif in literature, art, or mythology. A Hero’s Journey is a series of events, which are also archetypes that give the story structure and help progress the plot. The 2009 movie directed by James Cameron, Avatar, is a great example to show how archetypes help to propel a plot. Avatar is about Jake Sully, a crippled marine, having to go on a mission to become an avatar to fulfill his brother’s legacy after he died. To complete his mission, he travels to an exotic planet named Pandora. The planet was inhabited by the Na’vi, a tribe of human-like creatures who revolve their lives and beliefs around nature. Jake was to befriend the Na’vi and earn their trust in order to collect a mineral
An archetype would be known as a universal symbol, may be a character, a theme or even a setting. In the story Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, the knights of Camelot get confronted by a mysterious figure known as the Green Knight. The Green Knight proposes a challenge on a New Year’s Eve feast for Camelot’s leader or bravest man. Gawain accepts this challenge in which he has to complete to obtain Camelot’s honor. The Green Knight presents himself as a threat to Camelot because of the way he presents himself and his request. Throughout the poem of Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, the reader can conclude how a single character can play many archetypal roles.
Archetypes are twelve different models of people’s minds. These archetypes are formed by experiences we had as we evolve throughout our lives. My archetype I have chosen for Solomon Reed is the sage. The sage’s goal is to use intelligence and analysis to understand the world. His biggest fear is to be misled.
Imagine being called a monster although you can think, feel and have goals like any other human. Though, due to looking like a beast no humans believe you aren’t hostile. Archetypes are used exactly to show how one can be seen in a story, demonstrating what group they fit in that story.
Archetype refers to a generic version of a personality. Archetypes are continually present in folklore and literature for thousands of years, including prehistoric artwork. The identification of archetypes in literature is to primarily find the behaviors and characteristics of the main protagonist, it is important to discover the ambiguity of how the traits change and develop throughout the rising
I believe a villain is more than the character to depress the hero and to have that ability to play a character as I see fit would make my performance more believable and make an impact on the viewer instead of just an unacceptable opponent for a flawless superhero.
Villains have always exited me more than heroes, I feel they have more zeal and a greater passion for their cause. They fear nothing, welcoming the unexpected like an old friend. I would take on the role of a villain not to cause mayhem but to better understand the true feeling of being alive. Having no worries or cares in the world would be exuberantly zen. Vicariously living my world through the eyes of misunderstood delinquency draws an innovative way of life, one of which would allow me to switch responsibility for precision and bashfulness for loyalty. When people hear the word villain they automatically think of the aberrant lifestyle and all the retched stereotypes that the name comes with but I see something more, I see the hard working,
