Elvis Presley was a vivid piece of history through his contributions of becoming an astonishing entertainer,and contributing to the civil rights movement through his music, and creating a distinct, revolutionary sound to his music. Elvis had an astounding impact in the history of entertainment and performance that shook the world with his powerful music and raw talent that rose fans to their feet. Elvis Aron Presley was born into the world on January 8th, 1935 to his father, Vernon Presley and his mother, Gladys Smith. He possessed a compelling style to his dance movements, truly putting a contemporary edge on his personal style. Critics consistently attacked him for his dance moves which were viewed as “provocative” and “sexually aggressive”.(A) Although many did not appeal to his “provocative” approach to dancing his nickname of Elvis The Pelvis emerged. He held that nickname through the rest of his career to Elvis enthusiasts across the country. Young women and teenagers flocked towards the new handsome young man upon the stage. His performances and charm provided him with vast and substantial popularity. Elvis was not just a local, country bound star, he was a notable figure world wide.
