Today is a very special day for the students in River Park Elementary school. It’s the first day of school! Everyone is rushing to their classrooms with their new backpacks and smiles on their face. “Good morning students, everyone please come in and take a seat” Ms. Silvia said, the new 1st grade teacher. In the classroom came various students such as Elisabeth and Hilly. Elisabeth and Hilly were BFFs. Everyone was sitting down talking about the awesome summer they had had, “I went to the park everyday”, “ I got a new puppy!” Suddenly, Elisabeth turned around to the door and said “Who’s that?”. Everyone turned to look at Olivia, a brand new student that had moved into the region a couple weeks ago. She was albino. A condition in which their
Is there ever only a single person to blame? How is it considered a controversial issue with one person involved? In Nothing but the Truth by Avi Wortis, we learn that there are multiple people that could take the blame in every situation. Lying and blame can be revolved around very many people and in the book, Philip, Miss. Narwin, and Dr. Palleni will show how a slight, minor lie can escalate and can cause everyone in the situation to make mistakes.
Our story started back in the year 2013. A young, quiet, 13 year old girl by the name of Jade Runo started eighth grade. She was so nervous she shook just thinking about going back to that trailer park of a school. She had knots in her stomach, her already pale skin was whiter than snow. She started sweating as she brushed her long indigo hair out of the way of her eyes. She looked in the mirror, her bright blue eyes drifting, looking at her beat up ripped jeans and scrubby T-shirt.
Hadlei Smith was a gorgeous teenage girl, with bright red hair. She was five foot, six inches tall, and had a frail stature. Hadlei lived with her parents, and was an only child. She was more of the art type, rather than math or science. As she would always act kindly, she was known for her thoughtful personality. Unlike some red-haired people, Hadlei loved her red hair, and wouldn’t change it for anything. She lived in Houston, Texas, her whole life, which in her opinion, was the best place to live in the entire world. She went to school at Stratford High School, and was halfway done with her ninth grade year.
For the Honors World History midterm project the class was put into groups and we were to make a poster with information about one topic from the first semester. We started with three topics and then picked which idea would be best to transfer to a poster. My group started with the three categories, people, revolutions and countries. We chose countries for our poster. Even though this project was very intimidating and stressful at first, I ended up enjoying it because we worked with other classmates which allowed for more creativity as well as a more complete poster since more people worked on it.
At 1:00 p.m. I entered into Evoline C. West Elementary school on Thursday, July 12 2012 for an interview with Mrs. Yolanda Lawrence. As I entered the classroom, I was greeted by Mrs. Lawrence, the head teacher in this classroom. Mrs. Lawrence has no assistant at this present because of it being in the summer. After I entered into the classroom, the entire class welcomed me with “hello Ms. Flournoy”. It made my day to see all of those smiley faces greeting me. This was a 2nd grade classroom which consisted of 17 students of which 8 were girls and 9 were boys. This interview and observation was a total of 2
Polka dots and stripes do not match, peanut butter and jelly burritos are just weird, and playing soccer as a pirate princess just does not make any sense. But, to Marisol this is every day life for Marisol. However, just because this is normal for her does not mean that it is normal for her classmates. Marisol’s classmates wrinkle their nose at her. Why can’t she just choose between one thing or another? What Marisol’s classmates do not understand is that these things make Marisol, Marisol!
It was on that day, sitting on the schoolbus frightened and nervous, that she would be experiencing something new. The reserved 10 year-old Tasnim who just moved from Bangladesh to the United States, was riding on the schoolbus as a 5th grader. It was already halfway through the school year, and curious students on the bus had already been asking her questions to get to know her. Her first interaction with a student had been a girl on the bus asking,“What’s your name?” as well as other closed questions. The bus eventually stopped at the school, which was larger than she thought and had seemed like a labyrinth on the outside.
It was a bright and beautiful day outside, the sun was out, the birds were chirping and it was a “perfect” day for everyone, almost everyone. Sarah Choi was playing on the playground when a friend of hers yelled out of nowhere, “Sarah has cooties!!!” All the kids on the playground screamed and ran away from Choi, terrified that they would catch the “cooties”. Choi was only in Kindergarten and was extremely embarrassed. She knew that nobody would want to talk to her or share snacks with her during snacktime. Choi was alone. She did not have any friends anymore because all of them left her on the playground by herself and she did not know what to do.
The first day they were all wearing dresses and Suzy noticed that a girl had her old dress on and it was Leah, and that irritated Suzy(page 2 paragraph 1). The next step was for each student to get assigned a helper and Suzy and Leah got paired up. They don’t like each other so Suzy asked for a new partner, but Mr.Forest said no, so they were stuck. Suzy really wanted Leah to wear a different dress it was really irritating Suzy(page 3 paragraph 1). When Suzy went to grab Leah's paper to correct it Leah shrugged like she was going to get hit and Suzy did not understand. Nothing was getting better so Suzy’s mom told her she should invite Leah over for dinner one night and they would have to get a special pass for doing that. Leah asked Suzy what her name was and she told her full name and Leah asked what was she named after and it was a book and Leah started laughing. “Suzy brings me many treats and expects me to be grateful for them, but how can I she treats me like a pet.” Suzy noticed at lunch that Leah wasn’t eating and putting the food in her pockets and Suzy started wondering if she even eats. Leah got moved up to Suzy’s grade because
As little Suzy was walking into school on the very first day, she was so excited since it was the first day of school and it would be her last year in the elementary school. Next year she would be finally a middle school starting next school year. But something was very different about the school this year. She just thought it was her imagination and didn’t expect anything about it. She even thought that the teachers were acting very weird this year.
As Victoria entered the school everything seemed different, but at the same time the same. Same faces, same people, same school, but at the same time things seemed different. Expresion, Victoria finally thought of the word. Expression on people’s faces, they seemed more welcoming, saying “Hi”, but if you looked closer you can see that it was phony. Last year not so many people said “Hi” but you could see sincerity in their eyes. Many things had changed from last year, friends, sports, interests, and of course now she is in 10th grade, but that was not that important. It all started this summer when Victoria went to a camp where she met the her new friends, Alisa, Jessie, and Natalie. They got very close together over the summer. Victoria always thought they were mean like other popular girls, but no they were very nice to her. Now school began and Victoria became popular as well, she thought she would never be. Not that Victoria was such a loser she had friends that were always there for her were always there for her but being popular never was her thing. And what about her old friends? Well,
ML is six-year-old Hispanic female who has attended the after school program for two weeks. She is plump and of average height, and wearing proper clothes. In ML’s file, it was notified that she was diagnosed with ADHD and not taking medication. Her brother is also engaged in the same community center, but in a different class. When I went into the classroom, ML approached me without shyness or fear, although it was the first time we saw each other. She introduced herself and spontaneously wrote her name down on the intern’s notepad. She also wrote her brother’s name. Her writing skill was in the development stage, but she knew the exact spelling of it. She pressed the pen very hard while writing; the paper tore in part, and indented the paper on the notepad behind the one she wrote on.
It was a bleak, foggy day in September. Alexa took a deep breath as she cautiously trudged into her new school. The chatter of kids, who had known each other for years, echoed through the wide hallways. Endless rows of striking red lockers occupied every possible space Hordes of students crowded the halls like an army of ants. She could feel an abundance of eyes looking her up and down, wondering who this new freak was, wondering who was invading their tiny, close-knit school. It was horrendous enough that she was a freshman. It was even worse that she was new. She was fresh meat in a
It was the last day of school before summer vacation. Taylor, Kennedy, and Avery were freshman's at Eastwood High. They were all so excited for Ashley Brown’s end of school year party later that night. Ashley was the most popular person in school and the girls felt so honored to go. Little did they know, that night would change their lives forever.
There was once a girl named, Danny, she was just a regular student in her junior year of highschool. She was so excited to finish the school year out and just get to graduation, she never liked school all that much, but she did amazing in every class that got thrown at her. But even though she was lucky to never get messed with or bullied, her luck finally ran out. Danny had always been an extremely nice and even social kid, no one found it weird, until the new guy, Blake was placed in some of her classes and that made her life harder than it had to be for an entire week, let’s get into why it was.
