* Consolidation- hypothetical process involving gradual conversion of information into memory codes stored in long term memory.

During the review process new material, new insight and relationships are still connecting with old memories (Schenck, 2011, p.279). Rehearsal is the stage before the assessment, in which connections and memories are being strengthened and the ability to retrieve from the memory is almost instinctive. Effective and Ineffective study skills and strategies play an important role in getting students from processing new material to the ability to retrieve from the memory instantly. However, some strategies that we thought were effective are in in fact not effective at all. For instance, cramming is a popular form of studying. Students usually lock themselves away a few days leading up to a big test and try to fill their memory with information. This is something I use to do and my thinking was it would be fresh and easier to remember closer I got to the test. Yet, cramming simply does not work because our brains do not have the ability to store enough of the information that would be on a typical exam, in our short term memories. In fact when we cram we usually aren’t providing our bodies with the proper sleep or brain food that would help us succeed.

Many college students struggle to find a powerful way to memorize what they have learned in class. Thomas Frank created a youtube video to explain space repetition. Spaced repetition is studying over time but adding large time gaps in between each session . Studying with spaced repetition is a powerful way to study efficiently because of the spacing effect. The space effect is  that ideas need to be spaced out in order to allow your brain to learn and memorized efficiently.Different scientist have created experiments to justify why spaced repetition is one of the most powerful methods of memorizing your studies. Encoding Specificity is very important in understanding how memory is retrieved and stored. Memory is easier to be recalled when this information is encoded. The encoding specificity is best understood by looking at the associations between contextual cues that were formed during the encoding and the information that needed to be encoded in the memory. Most encoding specificity is associated with cue-recall of specific episodic memory (Wardell & Read, 2013). Encoding specificity has cues that help associate it with the target that is being presented. This helps because they can retrieve information that was stored in their memory. It increases the heart rate, stimulates physical action, and triggers impulse eating. Literary texts can be divided into commodities and non-commodities based on whether or not their messages are benefitting the author directly. If a work is created to sell an ideal that may not benefit the author immediately, it often has a larger impact on society, and it becomes a commodity. However, if the work brings in any monetary value or help to its author, it is no longer a commodity because it profited its creator. Because this can vary due to the use of the text by others, literature can become a commodity to different degrees thanks to the interpretation of the work by their audience.

i think things can effect peoples moods because when something happens they can start getting mad and try to fight you and it would be a disaster because their mood would be out of control and you would probably get hurt and you would be in trouble and possible go to jail and then you have to get a bond and nobody will bond you because they are mad at you. or they can get sad and start crying an blame every thing that you have done to them and then take you to court then the judge will es court you to jail and call you guilty. or they can get grumpy and then not want to leave and you try to pick them up and carry them out and then they take you to court and blame you for hitting them just to lie and they might say you shot at them and you

According to Weiton (2004) This involves forming a 'memory code', or connections with other information in storage. New information is encoded when it is connected with existing information in the memory base, increasing its 'depth of processing'. For example, when making a 'memory code' one might highlight how a word sounds or a visualization of that word. By connecting the word to other information (memories), it is stored more efficiently.

Continuous practice of learning is often seen as a solution to recalling knowledge and facts; however, not all practice is effective practice. Studies have revealed that information and skills are preserved greater when practice is spaced out rather than massed (clustered). In terms of teaching styles, spaced learning in schools would disperse the learning and boost retention levels. Almost all high schools follow similar schedules, where classes meet every other day for 90+ minutes. Reflecting on the findings regarding spaced versus massed learning, concepts taught in the classroom will be remembered better if the class met every day for less time. Cramming for a test can be very dangerous for students, in that it overloads their memory capacity, and prohibits their ability to learn. The fact of the matter is, the memory capacity of people limits them to process only 7 pieces of information at one time, at least in their short-term memory. In order to remember information for a test, the knowledge needed must be put into long-term memory, where distributed learning could aid the flow of information through the brains of students.
