El Salvador was exhausted of resources like many other countries engulfed in the civil war. With the help of the United States, the government was able to resume their efforts. They were supported when the war began with financial and military aid. The U.S. postponed funds when the rape and killing of a church women happened in 1980. The U.S. continued the support until 1990. 1.5 million dollars a day was given in aid, in the highs of the civil war. Human rights violations were reported by the congressman Moakley when the United Nations entered the war. The U.S finally stopped aiding and supporting after this took place. El Salvador receives around 30-35 million annually from the United States(Countries and their Cultures 2018).
During the civil war, gender roles began to change. Women begin to take leadership roles. Before the change women generally stayed home cooking and cleaning for troops and their families. Though it was different from the traditional roles may women became leaders in organizations and communities. Some also held the power of military and leadership status for the FMLN. Though women were starting to have jobs outside of the house they were still responsible for the cleaning cooking and caring for the children at
Today’s violence in El Salvador consists of ruthless gang members. According to CRS (Congressional Research Service) about 30,000 kids have joined the maras and it will continue to increase. Due to the gang violence, children are fleeing the country to prevent from becoming victims or recruited, furthermore families are streaming into the U.S to seek asylum. Alike today, El Salvador experienced the same immigration crisis back in 1980 when the civil war was the cause for Salvadorans to immigrate to the United Sates. Repression and violation of human rights was the root cause, now gang violence is the root cause striking a similar pattern of the effects of violence. In 1980, El Salvador’s right-wing government had death squads to kill citizens for suspicion of supporting a social reform. Military soldiers attacked many villages, including El Mozote in which men, women, and children were tortured and subjected to sexual violence.
Women played many roles in Civil War society. They did not sit alone all day and wait for the men in their lives to come home from the battlefield. Many women in the war served as nurses while others took a more upfront approach and enlisted in the Army or they served as spies and smugglers. Clara Barton was a civil war nurse at the Battle of Bull Run, after which she established an agency, then she distributed supplies to soldiers. Often working behind the lines, she aided wounded soldiers on both sides.
El Salvador gained its independence in 1821 (C). El Salvador is located in Central America, north of the Panama Canal and south of Mexico. El Salvador shares a border with Honduras to the north and east and with the Pacific Ocean to the south, and Guatemala to the northwest (C). El Salvador's territory is located entirely on the Pacific Ocean side of Central America, making it the only Central American country that does not have a Caribbean shoreline, unlike Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America and is known as the Land of Volcanoes (C). Just to give some perspective on the size of El Salvador, it is approximately the same size as Massachusetts (C). El Salvador is similarly located on the Ring of Fire, a string of volcanoes located around the edges of the Pacific Ocean which cause seismic activity, as well as earthquakes. Not unlike other countries in the region, El Salvador is also susceptible to hurricanes.
During the 16th century, many Spanish conquistadors followed Christopher Columbus example and took on the journey of discovering new land in the West Indies. One of them was Pedro de Alvarado, a lieutenant of the spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes. Alvarado discovered many parts of Central America; one of which was El Salvador. El Salvador has always been a struggling country since its foundation, it has fought for its independence from Spain, to having its own devastating Civil War in the 1980’s. In addition, El Salvador has had to deal with huge natural disaster such as massive earthquakes and constant gang violence, that have created a great economic and social collapse.

El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America. With a population of just over 6 million, it is also considered the most industrialized country in Central America. However, its people continue to face serious challenges. An estimated 1 in 5 El Salvadorans have emigrated. The country is the second most deforested in the Western Hemisphere. The income inequality between rural and urban areas is severe. Environmental degradation and global climate change make the country highly susceptible to natural disasters. Competition for natural resources is intense. Additionally, low economic growth and high levels of violence and insecurity continue to affect Salvadoran society in profound ways.
El Salvador has been suffering from every type of problem since the mid-60s when the military regime was just starting, causing problems little by little until the late 70’s, when the civil war was about to start. El Salvador suffered from a disastrous war and still, today we are still paying the consequences. El Salvador is losing its glow every year because of the many problems we are dealing with; Gangs, corruption and poverty. We can all agree that since the war ended, the political problems we were once suffering may have stopped, but its effects didn’t. Everyone thought that right after the war ended we would live in a peaceful country, El Salvador would recover, and leave its political differences behind.
In this paper, I will explain about the country of Ethiopia and El Salvador’s language, calendar, religion, food, holiday, and flag. Ethiopia was formerly known as "Abyssinia” until the 20th century. Ethiopia is located in the horn of Africa (East Africa). Addis Ababa is a capital city of Ethiopia. It is the only African country to defeat a European colonial power, and retain its sovereignty as an independent country. El Salvador is a small Central American nation. It is located in the continent of Central America. The capital city of El Salvador is San Salvador.
There are plenty of good things to be said about El Salvador, the Latin American country that sits in the heart of Central America, surrounded by volcanic mountains, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and a Pacific coast of startlingly beautiful beaches and rustic fishing villages.

Murder. Fear. Extortion. Crime. Death. These words were and still are daily thoughts to those who reside in El Salvador. My parents would lay frightened in their home, shaking from the short spurts of gunfire firing directly outside their home; this was war, the decade long Salvadoran Civil War. Gunshots. Screams. Child soldiers carrying heavy automatic weapons. Corpses. Blood. Men were forced to fight for either side, nowhere to hide. Stableness was not an option. In the late 1980s, my parents decided to head for the United States in order to avoid the conflict and seek better opportunities; El Salvador had fallen down the rabbit hole. Going back and forth from El Salvador and the United States would be a way of life for my nomadic
El Salvador has lived different situations that have affected it throughout its history. Since its independence on September 15, 1821, the country has experienced many wars, suffered from the ravages of nature, and both internal and external
A country inhabited by over six million people off of the coast of Central America. A ravishing land full of beaches and wildlife, but also a place ravaged by corruption and gang populations that feel that they are leaders of the urban areas. This country has been torn by the result of war games played among its own brothers. The beautiful nation of El Salvador that has been the place of birth for my parents, grandparents and ancestors. San Salvador is the nation’s capital and possibly most prominent area of my land. The smallest of all Central American countries yet the most densely populated. Our flag wave’s two streaks of blue and one of white topped by a symbol representing the coat of arms in the center. Salvadorian people also being
In the 1980’s, over 80,000 Salvadorans were killed in the Salvadoran Civil War. My family fled to the United States both legally and illegally in order to survive and prosper. The ironic part was that the U.S. government was funding our demise with $4.5 billion in military and economic aid to the military-led government of El Salvador. In history books we are largely considered voluntary immigrants, when in reality we are refugees who were denied asylum. The Salvadoran government murdered civilians and recruited child-soldiers in what became one of Latin America’s worst human rights abuses sponsored by the U.S.
After the civil war in the early 1990s, the Salvadorian government was confronted with an outstanding issue of economic and social turmoil which required the government to request for international aid. One of the many laws enacted to boost the economy was a 1996 modern mining law to replace
