El Castillo de San Marcos St. Augustine's most historical, significant structure is the Castillo de San Marcos, a fort built throughout 1672 and 1695 (23 years), by the Spanish. It was built to protect the city after it had been burned down twice. They made it using coquina a sedimentary rock primarily made up from small sea shells. The fort has many features which helped it never to have been conquered. Firstly, the fort looks like it should have a moat around it, but that area was meant for the livestock. So whenever the city was under attack and someone was hungry they could walk right outside and all the livestock would be right there to eat. There were also, two main defenses in the fort. The first defense is where the elite soldiers
The original design of the fort was to house 500 soldiers and 78 pieces of artillery. Officers of the Army Corps of Engineers directed a civilian workforce to construct the fort. In 1860, progress was slow and only two-thirds of the walls were completed, yet not a single piece of artillery was in place. Rooms that were completed include the guard rooms, prison, lumber sheds, and carpentry shops. Leaving the storehouse and kitchen unfinished, and with the brink of the Civil War upon them, there is still not a single piece of artillery in place.
Mission San Buenaventura is named after a Saint named Saint Buenaventura. My mission also has a nickname it’s nickname is Mission by the ocean. It is named that because it’s near the ocean. It is located in the meadow of the Chumash Indians. The reason why it is located there because it was supposed to convert the Chumash Indians. It was built on the month of march31, 1784 on the memorable Easter morning. The family’s of the soldiers helped Fr. Serra build Mission San Buenaventura.
A disadvantage to its location but also an advantage was how close to the water the Fort was. This was both an advantage and disadvantage because while it was a good thing to have easy access to water for drinking and waterways throughout the Fort that lead to both the river and lake, which made travel and communication easier. It was also a disadvantage too because it made it easier for enemies to sail to the Fort and attack from the water or on the shore, which could have been crucial to the survival of the soldiers, Natives, ****. Another advantage to its location was the flat ground, even though there were walls and buildings protecting the Fort you could still see most if not all of the land. So, if any of their enemies were to try and attack it would be much more difficult as they couldn’t hide in a ditch or attack from above on a

The Alamo, in San Antonio Texas, is a crucial piece of the history of Texas. It was originally a Franciscan mission built by Spanish settlers around 1718. Its purpose was to be a home for Spanish missionaries and new Native American converts. During Texas’ war for independence from Mexico, the Texans seized the former mission and set up a military base there. Mere months later, the Mexicans attacked the Texans at the Alamo in order to attempt to regain control of this military base. Although the Mexicans vastly outnumbered the Texans, the Texans were able to suppress them for thirteen days, when the Mexicans finally overpowered the Texans. Although the Mexicans tried to destroy the Alamo during their retreat, it is still in excellent condition
Years ago, there was once a small town called Chaves Ravine within Los Angeles, California and this town was a poor rural community that was always full of life. Two hundred families, mostly Chicano families, were living here quite peacefully until the Housing Act of 1949 was passed. The Federal Housing Act of 1949 granted money to cities from the federal government to build public housing projects for the low income. Los Angeles was one of the first cities to receive the funds for project. Unfortunately, Chavez Ravine was one of the sites chosen for the housing project, so, to prepare for the construction work of the low-income apartments, the Housing Authority of Los Angeles had to convince the people of the ravine to leave, or forcibly
The Alamo was originally built as a mission church in 1718 for San Antonio de Valero. These mission churches were used as schools for Indians, when not being used for church services. The mission when first built was just several huts and a small stone tower. However, in 1724 the tower was destroyed by a storm. It took approximately another twenty years for them to build a church building that was finished in 1744. The construction of this church was not very good and it collapsed in 1756. They then started to build another second church in 1758 to replace the one that had collapsed, however, it was never finished and this is how it looks
Most people don’t know where it is. Most people have never seen it. Most people have never even heard of it. Despite this, the William B. Travis Building in Austin, Texas is where American history is made. Correction, this is where the events and memories of the present and near past get wedged into America’s long-term cultural memory or slip into oblivion. Since Texas buys or distributes 48 million textbooks annually, educational publishers tailor their products to fit the standards adopted by the Lone Star State. This makes the Texas state board of education, which is housed in the William B. Travis Building, the most influential state board of education in America. Every year this board draws national attention when it meets to adopt or reject proposed changes to the social studies curriculum, which are guidelines that will affect children across America for the next 10 years. In 2010, the most fiercely debated proposal was bringing Christianity into the coverage of American history. More specifically bringing the Christian “truth” about America’s founding into public schools. However, this debate has been going on since the early nineteenth century. People have always questioned how to reconcile the idea of America as a Christian nation with that of America as a beacon for religious freedom. To answer this question for ourselves, we must understand religious life in colonial America, religion in the Constitution and the debate surrounding Jefferson’s “Wall of Separation”
One hotel offering that could use a process map to help streamline the process is to make it more efficient. The first step is when the guest calls the front desk for the room service. The first question is whether the order is for right away or for a future order. If the order is for a certain time, the front desk places the order with the specific timeframe and charges it to the room. If the order is for right away, the front desk places the order and charges it to the room. The next step for both instances is that the kitchen will prepare the food and then inform the front desk the food is ready. Next room service will deliver the food and then the process is ended.
Mary's Secret Garden is located in Downtown Ventura, across from a park and easily accessible from the 101 Freeway. This restaurant is relatively small and has about six or seven tables, so it is a good idea to get a reservation if you plan to go at a popular time. It is closed on Sunday and Monday and is open the other days of the week. The restaurant is located on a narrow street which doesn't provide much parking, but it's only a block away from Downtown Ventura's main parking structure, which includes several floors of free parking space. Mary's Secret Garden offers several appetizers. A popular appetizer is the spring rolls. The spring rolls are wrapped in rice paper, and include a mix of vegetables such as shredded carrots and lettuce.
