Eight Week Course Analysis

On 22 April 2016 the Basic Leader Class of 05-16, 4th platoon conducted Army correspondence course L225. The instructor for L225 was SSG Snell. The course contained several classes to prepare Class 05-16 to become more qualified leaders. who are capable of filling out certain forms for use in bettering themselves and their soldiers.

The leadership project in course EL-7235, Workforce and Economic Development consisted of identifying a problem, trend, issue or innovation related to the workforce and economic development that affects community colleges. The problem, trend, issue or innovation was to be discussed in detailed, connecting to theory, policy and or practice used in the community college setting to address the selected topic. In addition, conducting a comprehensive review of literature concerning the topic and enhancing the review of literature with field research at a community college were included. In the wake of assessing the course in my degree plan, I realized that there are a variety of courses that will bolster me towards my degree goal. After assessing the course, 5 specifically got my attention and now I am more eager to learn more about these topics. I feel the courses below will contribute significantly in my Career. In total there are 180 credit needs for my degree in health science.

The week four team assignment is to expand the team’s week two assignment. Week two assignment is the first part of the marketing plan for Meet Singles Now (MSN). The second part of the marketing plan assignment adds decision motivators for target markets, buying behaviors, target market profiles, managing the stages of product life cycle including the tactical plans for each stage of the four P’s (product, price, place, promotion) of the marketing mix. The week four team assignment also requires providing a product mix including features, benefits, that differ from competitive and substitute products. The last requirement of the team assignment is to develop a positioning statement and the reasoning of the positioning

Much of my lower division courses have helped to prepare me for the upper division courses, much of the material in my upper division courses are based upon these lower division courses. Throughout my college career I have met and made many friends not just from the campus that I attend, but from other larger institutions as well, such as Sac State and UC Davis. Upon communicating with them I have gotten a lot of insight as to what is expected of a student at these different universities, such as what has helped them become a successful student, the barriers they have faced, and as well as the do’s and the don’t s. Throughout the semester we have been reading about stories of students and how “On Course” has impacted their lives. However there are students like me Shawnel Begay that has gone through the entire semester and realize On Course had no impact towards my life, only became a waste of time. To be honest I have found many of these lessons to be useless in life, such as the inner guide, inner critic or the inner defender, my beliefs and habits are different compare to On Course.

When reflecting on what I have learned in my general education courses, it is tough to know where to begin. After moving overseas, my first anthropology course initially comes to mind. Even though I am now an anthropology major, when the class was taken, I was studying under another major. Anthropology has enhanced my communication skills in that it has taught me to suspend my own pre-misconceptions and to look at and accept other cultures with a more open mind. Relative culturalism can be described as “A moral stance that requires anthropologists to suspend moral and ethical judgments when interacting with a culture different from their own” (Nowak & Laird, 2010). I do feel that I have grown both professionally and personally. This class has taught me to see individuals for who they are and to meet them where they are in their lives.

I feel like I've learned a lot of thing from this class that I probably would have never thought about before. Firstly, I learned how community colleges work and about some of the policies they go by. I also learned about a lot of different career options that I never explored before. I think this really helped to open my eyes to all the options so I'm not limiting myself. Lastly, and most importantly, I learned about ways of managing stress and my time. This is something I have always struggled with and now I feel like I have the tools to change. I think this will really improve many things in all areas in my life but especially school. It’s because of all the learnings from this course that I realized in order to keep my sanity and maintain supportive relationships I would have to balance everything out. I struggled the first couple of days, but I found the need, especially for those around me. The first thing I want to state is that I learned quite a bit from this course.  This is probably one of the most challenging courses I’ve taken thus far in my college career.  Most of tasks I’ve done in this course I have never done before and that’s what made it so challenging.  I am use to taking courses that require me to study material from presentations and books.  With this information I take exams and quizzes.  This course was nothing like that.  This course had me going out and networking with individuals outside of the university.  The networking is the very first thing that stood out to me in this course since I am not really the outgoing/ people person.  From networking I did learn a lot and met numerous interesting people that

Over the course, as I began to see all the material and work come together, I felt a sense of accomplishment and felt very proud of what I had done over the semester. This learning experience has definitely opened my eyes and opened new doors for me professionally already.

Not only am I expecting this course to help improve me personally as an individual, but on a team level as well. In the field of psychology it takes a team in order to complete work appropriately; this includes working with other colleagues.
