The article “Cesar Chavez Saved My Life,” written by Daniel “Nane” Alejandrez reflects on Mr. Alejandraz’s past, covering some very unfortunate events, but with a purpose of pulling emotion from the reader. While reading some parts of the article, I had to reread it over a few times to comprehend the point that the author was trying to make. The most important thing about knowing his past is that it is significantly different, and much more positive in the future because of one person, Cesar Chavez.
On March 31, 1927, César Chávez was born in Yuma, Arizona as an American farm worker with 4 other siblings, Richard, Librado, Rita and Vicki. His parents were Juana Estrada and Librado Chávez. They owned a ranch and a grocery store but during the Great Depression, they lost it all. Chávez’s family became migrant farm workers in California after their house was stolen for them because of a contract being broken. In 1942, Chávez dropped out of seventh grade to take on the job his mother had as a worker in the fields because he thought that she shouldn’t have to be put under that much stress. Two years later he joined the United States Navy for two years. When he returned home, he married Helen Fabela Chávez and had 8 children together. In 1952,
Early in his career as a corrections officer at Pinewood Correctional Complex, Officer Vincent Fernandez found himself in an undesirable situation. In the facility he was working, he came across an old childhood friend, who happened to be on the opposite side of things in the facility. Fernandez knew to keep a certain distance from his old friend, Larry Simpson, which is what he should have done the whole time. Despite the two men being friends from their past, after ending up being assigned to the kitchen together Fernandez should have gone to his sergeant immediately and notified him of the situation, and requested a change of assignment.
Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma, Arizona March 31, 1927. He is one of the five children from the Chavez family. The Chavez family was always known to be kind-hearted people who always offered their services when needed. When Chavez was a teenager his sister, Rita, would help him give farm workers and neighbors car rides to the hospital. Not once did they accept the money offered to them as payment.
How can a poor farmer boy become a grown leader? Born in poverty, discriminated against, and has a lot of family. Cesar Chavez lived such a difficult life until he stood up to discriminators. While young he faced many challenges while farming, and that’s just the beginning of Cesar Chavez’s life.
Cesar Chavez a freedom fight for field workers. Cesar fought for the workers by creating the national farm workers association for not only the workers but for everyone right that has a bad working condition and bad payment.
Totalitarian leaders used propaganda to persuade followers to believe that their country would be restored again. Propaganda is when information deliberately spread to help or harm a person, group, or institution. This allows people to be pursued by the leaders and gives the leaders the advantages. In document C, poster created by the Nazi government in 1938, encourages Germans to vote for the annexation of Austria. In the poster you can see that their is hands in air showing that Germany is always united. Cesar Chavez was a very important man in the Civil rights for farm workers. He has changed the old ways and has set ,more, better ways. He gave up so much for the farm workers and civil rights. Cesar Chavez helped get back many things like very little pay because they were paid so little; he even helped people with non-violence; and he even helped with pesticides because it was affecting the farm workers. Cesar Chavez has done so much for the farm workers.
Warriors of Human Rights Cesar Chavez, Mother Jones and Anis Hidayah were three hard-working human rights warriors who were instrumental in achieving human rights for people all around the world. Cesar fought for migrant workers, Mother Jones fought for child labor laws and Anis Hidayah fought against migrant abuse as well as female abuse. Though these three individuals used different forms of media, they were all human rights activists who stood up for their beliefs and led others who weren't strong enough to fight for themselves by conducting marches and speaking out. Cesar Chavez is a very strong, experienced impoverished citizens’ rights activist in which he was once a migrant worker himself and understood that everyone should get a chance to get a good job.
“There’s no turning back… We will win. We are winning because ours is a revolution of mind and heart” (cesarchavezholiday.org). These are the famous words of Cesar Chavez. Chavez believed that there was no stopping his team when they were fighting for the rights of the farm workers. Cesar Chavez was an important figure in American history because of his efforts to gain better working conditions for the farm workers who labored for low wages under severe conditions.
History repeats itself since the existence of human begins but history started when something effective occurred in the world. We people in America are thought many events that occurred in the beginning of history in our History class. One of the major events in history includes Cesar Chavez, Chavez was a Chicano that tried and did a change for people. Leaders demonstrate was possible in the world and therefore I chose Chavez as one of them because he was the voice of unheard people, he made improvements to have better conditions, and he inspires others.
The “Struggle in the Fields” has always been a controversial issue. In the PBS series, we get to learn how many obstacles came along, when many Filipino farm workers along with Mexican American workers began to demand a change in the fields.
Flashes of World War II propaganda cartoons from Germany, Japan and the United States demonstrate how they were by picturing the other species as rats and snakes. Based on these cartoons and images, which have some same points such as visual metaphor and hostile cliches to characterize and dehumanize their enemies, Dr. Keen believes that they are drawn from the artists being at the same schools.
The beginning of the video started off by introducing a man named John Dickens, who worked at a naval pay office on the docks of Portsmouth, and lived in a small house at 387 Mile End Terrace. His wife was Elizabeth Barrow who he met at his office, and who he also had a kid with named, Charles Dickens. But within 7 months of Charles being born everything seemed to go wrong for them, from running into financial problems to being forced to move to several different locations, until they settled in a house up the hill from the docks of Chatham, London.
