In which People tend to eat small amounts, because they do not want to gain weight. They all tend to start out with eating the right amount, but by the time there emotions control then they start to eat less and less. There are all kinds of eating disorders, for example you can get an eating disorder from obsessing over your body weight, and how well you look. Eating disorders are characterised by an abnormal attitude towards food that causes an individual to change their eating habits and their behaviour. There are several types of eating disorders that can effect an individual physically, psychologically and socially. The two eating disorders which I will be discussing is anorexia and bulimia.
Real beauty is found in a person's heart, not in their appearance, but the media rarely portrays this though. Most magazines and television shows feature only excessively thin people. Unfortunately, this causes teenagers whose bodies don't match those same proportions to look at their selves with hatred. Every lump and bulge becomes despised, and soon, they have a full-blown eating disorder.

This day marks the death of the very famous singer of the time, Karen Carpenter. Looking glamorous and confident on the outside, most did not know she was suffering from Anorexia Nervosa (B5). Throughout her teenage years, she was overweight. In 1967, weighing 140 pounds, Karen was put on a water diet by her doctor. This brought her down to 120 pounds (B6). Even though she was now at a healthy weight, she was still insecure due to her large amount of celebrity peers who were the ideal, perfect weight. Binge Eating Disorder is known as eating too much or consuming major amounts of food and not being able to stop or feeling out of control. Binge eating is comforting for a brief moment, but then the feeling of guilt and self-loathing flood in. Generally, it takes a combination of things to develop a binge eating disorder. It usually begins in late adolescence or early adulthood, and it often occurs more in women than in men. People who have binge eating disorder usually have trouble handling their emotions and often feel out of control in their everyday life. Binge eating disorders often stem in people who are overweight, but it can occur in people of normal weight also. Although many people know that binge eating disorder is caused by psychological issues, they often do not know that it is also caused by behavioral and environmental issues as well.

A combination of genetic, physical, social, and psychological factors may contribute to the development of an eating disorder, such as Anorexia. Anorexia is an emotional disorder characterized by an obsessive desire to lose weight by refusing to eat. Eating disorders effect ten million females and one million males in the United States. Also 0.3 percent of the eating disorders occur in teenage children.
The treatments for eating/consumption disorder include such things as counseling, education and medication. Find out what treatment(s) works for them. Eating/consumption disorder treatment(s) depends on the particulars of the disorder as well as the symptoms. It typically includes a combination of psychotherapy counseling, nutritional education, medical monitoring and sometimes even medications.
So what exactly is an eating disorder and what kind of behaviors are characteristic of them? According to the National Institute of Mental Health, an eating disorder is simply described as an illness that results in serious disturbances to a person’s daily diet and eating patterns. However, eating disorders are much more complex than that and can “arise from a combination of long-standing behavioral, biological, emotional, psychological, interpersonal, and social factors” (Eating Disorders on the College Campus). Eating disorders have become and extreme issue among women. However, the ignorance to this subjects’ prevalence is common and it is essential that this is compressed immediately. The impact eating disorders currently holds on society is monumental and is defining the current image of beauty. Definitions of beauty have fluctuated extremely throughout time and the unhealthy processes women have put themselves through in order to conform to societies current definition of beauty has remained consistent. Over the last few generation, society has fabricated an existence where the influence of media on young adolescents and children is inexorable. Children are now broadcast by their parents on every social media platform, establishing a need for acceptance based on how “cute” the child is long before they are mature enough to voice their own thoughts. While traditionally media has been know to promote a specific body standard—proven to contribute to the development of eating disorders among young adults and pre-adolescents—a new trend in media has introduced the “body positivity” movement which has begun to successfully influence people of all generations and body types.

Eating Disorders are serious conditions related to persistent eating behaviors that negatively impact your health, your emotions, your diet, and your ability to function important areas of life.
I chose to write my research paper about eating disorders. For my research question, I asked: what are the myths vs. facts about eating disorders? I proposed that these illnesses are not just physical, but psychological as well due to the overwhelming thoughts and body dysmorphia one experiences while suffering.
As a result of eating disorders, women could get other problems of their body, such as alopecia and malnutrition. If a female is suffering from eating disorders, she might feel unconfident and negative because of her concern of body image. Her social relationships might be affected because it could be hard to socialize with people who has healthy eating habit. She might also suffer from dizziness and tiredness in daily life since she doesn’t consume enough food or consume too much food which will also damage her digestive system. Eating disorders also have negative effects on mental health, as well as physical health. Women who suffer from eating disorders are more likely to have depression since they are too strict about their body image.
According to the dictionary, an eating disorder is a range of psychological disorders characterized by abnormal or disturbed eating habits. To me, an eating disorder is disease that affects people in my everyday life. Three main types of eating disorders; anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder.
