Dulce et Decorum Est “Dulce et Decorum” by author Wilfred Owen was a poem about anti-war, the setting of the poem takes place on the battlefield during World War One. Through his use of imagery, and tone, the author obviously shows the theme of death and warfare. In the poem vivid imagery is used to help readers understand the theme. “Many had lost their boots, but limped on, blood-shod.” In that part of the poem he uses the word blood-shod; that means the soldiers in the poem are wearing shoes of blood and have to walk around all the blood shed that surrounds them on the battlefield. The author uses the similes “obscene as cancer” to compare the battlefield to cancer, because cancer is a man's killer. Another simile he uses is “Coughing
