Drunk Driving and Texting and Driving: Don’t Do It. How are we to be safe in a world that promotes cellular devices and drinking everywhere we go? Almost everywhere we turn there is an ad promoting a new cell-phone that has recently come out, or alcoholic drinks to accompany you at a party. In this day and age, everyone looks forward to having their first cell-phone so they can stay in touch with their friends and family through texting and social media. It seems to be an obsession now; to always have your phone with you. After the “milestone” of getting a new phone, children then look forward to being able to drive. Once this milestone is reached, one now feels like an adult. Children seem to think as if they are indestructible, and nothing bad will happen to them. If children are brought up to believe that they are indestructible, then they will act as if they are. Once they get their licenses they will tell themselves “ If I look at my phone for five seconds, I won’t hit anything.” They think that they’ll be fine. In one second that all can change, looking at a text for not even five seconds, can end a life. After being able to drive, the next milestone you reach is adulthood. During adulthood, one is faced with many challenges. Challenges including peer pressure, and just the overall fact that you are now able to drink without getting in trouble for your age. All you have to do is be safe and make good decisions. How are you supposed to decide what’s safe and what’s not
