Chicago is the city which comes in the top notch cities in America but nowadays it is not a scenario behind the beautiful beaches of Chicago there is a lot of black water.
There are many dark sides in Chicago which makes it difficult to survive in it.The three main reasons are 1)Drug trafficking 2)Corruption 3)Gun Violence.
Drug Trafficking: It is one of the biggest issues which is faced by Chicago nowadays. There are many gangs which are activated in Chicago which is responsible for killing, beating, treating for the sake of drugs. It is not responsible for spoiling the life of youth by introducing the poison of drugs in them also make them violent.
Corruption: According to US times report Chicago is the most corrupt major city in the world
Chicago has the biggest gang problem in the country (Thomas & Bass, 2009). “There are more gang members per citizen in Chicago than anywhere else in the country” (Thomas, 2009, para 4). The average Chicago gang leader is 43, convicted of murder and lives in the suburbs. That leader on many occasions directs his gang from jail (Main, 2006) and 95 percent of inmates in the Cook County Jail are gang members (Thomas, 2009). Gangs are everywhere today just like they use to be. The high number of gangs causes violence and deaths to rise in Chicago.
Rebenstein and Ziewaxz (2014) explain how Detroit has been rated as the world’s most miserable city. In 2012 Detroit suffered 411 homicides, which was higher than in 1974 when Detroit was designated as the murder capital of the United States (p. 340). What causes all of these horrible things to happen in a city? Can the blame be placed solely on one people group? Policemen? Politicians? Teachers? Economic decline? Determining the blame for the current plight of Detroit is a very complex question that cannot be given a simple answer. Similar to the discussion regarding who was to blame for the Detroit Riots, no one person or area can be blamed for the city’s history and current state. It is clear through the textbook readings that multiple factors
Chicago has not been a fair city. We began to riot in 1968. We needed to release our anger due to our Civil right leader was killed. You know Martin Luther king? He was a cautious leader who felt fighting back to racial profiling,
The people that live in Chicago are greedy people that steal from each other. They are all poor and are barely alive. They are all hungry because they don't have any money. Because they work for rich people that barely pay them so they can't afford food. They rob and steal from each other and they think it's ok because they need the money to live but it's still bad because the people that they are stealing from are dieng.
There are more than 5 hospitals on Chicago’s south side near the Englewood neighborhood, which is where majority of the crimes take place. An article written by Jeffrey Bishku-Aykul published by The Nation, an online news source, “looks at the shuttering need of trauma centers, beginning with those on Chicago’s violent South Side. Within it the highlight of Damian Turner, a 18 year old teen who was killed in August of 2010, death gassed an ongoing debate on why none of the hospitals on the south side of Chicago had trauma centers- the only hospitals that had trauma centers were the hospitals on Chicago’s northwest side, which is at the minimum 45 minutes from any of the south side hospitals. Damian was a friend of mine- he died on the way to the hospital- he was shot within 5-10 minutes from the nearest hospital ,however, the facility wasn’t efficient enough for his case due to their lack of resources to treat such
In Policing Gangs in America, Charles Katz and Vincent Webb describes every issue in American Gangs today. The ultimate goal of this book is how the gang officers work and the different kind of atmosphere they work in. Their job isn’t like other law enforcement jobs. It’s one of the more dangerous occupation in the Criminal Justice system. These gang officers focus on how they react to public gang issues.
In the 1940s the black population grew onward and since there were now more blacks in Chicago, there were buildings that were being built for low-income and poverty families and since the blacks were just now coming into Chicago looking for better employment they had to move to where they could afford. Now these buildings were being built on the west and south sides of Chicago. These buildings became like forts to these gangs These gangs grew intense over time in Chicago as well in New York. Gang war erupted over drug trafficking turf, which made black gang problems explode in the 1960s. It got so bad that law enforcement said that it was too dangerous for them to patrol around that area. Gangs of Chicago controlled many things like drug distribution
There are hundreds of gangs all over Chicago. These gangs are reckless and try to show their superiority by shooting rival gang members. When committing such acts, these gang members fail to realize that they aren’t the only ones who live in this city. There are
¨Gang members have been responsible for 61 percent of all homicides [in Chicago] in 2011, up from 58.7 percent in 2010¨ (Hidden America). These are some of the few disturbing statistics about gang violence in Chicago; however, as many people do not know, gangs have not always been about drugs and violence. In the early 19th century, gangs are not what people perceive them to be today. Gangs in the 19th century were volunteers with the fire department back in the Antebellum Period, which is the period before the civil war and after the War of 1812. As time went on and as the professional firemen forced the volunteers to break up, they started spreading apart. Then by the late 19th century, gangs started developing on the south side. This is
The city of Camden, New Jersey has been known as one of the greatest Industrial Powerhouses, and was one of the biggest Industrialization in America. Camden created some of the nation 's largest warships and helped start up the railroad industry. (City of Camden; Industrialization) These are just a couple of the many things that made Camden one of the most thriving cities in the United States back in the day. But, all things must come to an end as the saying goes, Camden that once was a successful industrial thriving city is now one of the worst areas to live in America today. Camden is ranked second on the list in the United States as one of the worst cities to live in. Camden has a violent crime rate of 87.02% and you have 1 in 11 chances of being a victim. Camden has been plagued by so many problems it is now known for its violence, drugs a failing economy, and many more. So, where did Camden go wrong? Will it ever be the city it once was again?
The correlation between gangs and drugs has always been an issue for the United States government. Major cities often overlooked the problem of youth gang violence, thinking it was only a 1960’s trend. Sixty years later, gangs and drugs continue to be a problem, but in an increasing number within urban, suburban and rural areas in the United States. People may characterize this problem with words such as violence, increase drug activity, and delinquencies, but not many seem to see the bigger picture. Lack of interaction, collaboration, and strategies from law enforcement, youth centers, businesses, churches, and political icons are increasing gang violence and drug related offenses in major cities. In such cities as Chicago, minority groups are the most vulnerable to joining a gang, which then leads to an involvement with drugs; they are faced with barriers – lack of family support, poverty, segregation, unemployment, etc. An incident that happened in Chicago history is the closing of the Cabrini-Green Project, where people involved with gangs had to find a new home, scattering gang-members throughout the city, and eventually leading to their spread and growth.
Initially gang activity could only be found in large metropolitan cities, but now gangs have invaded neighborhoods of all sizes across the country. Gangs introduce violence and fear to the communities they occupy, raise the level of drug activities, and destroy businesses and property which brings down the overall value of the whole area. Instead of going to school, many young people find themselves drawn in to the gang life which in most cases either leads to being locked up or death. There are various reasons why people would want to join a gang, but no matter what that reason might be one can only expect a life of violence and troubles.
problem of transnational drug trafficking stimulated the creation of an international anti-money-laundering legal regime based on the premise that attacking the profits of such activities is the best strategy against large, multinational criminal organizations.(Bagley 1988) The international anti-money-laundering legal regime then gained momentum through such international agreements as the 1988 United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (UN Drug Convention). (Stewart 1989) . Another important cornerstone in the international anti-money-laundering legal regime was the creation of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF)
Confucius and Plato are two of the most respected and most widely studied teachers of history. There philosophies of how people should be governed and what characteristics make for a good leader. Both men’s ideas are good for the civilizations that they lived in, and they shared many similarities in their ideas. My own ideas of an ideal leader are a mixture of these two men’s ideas. The personal experiences of both men also play a key role in how they shape their ideas.
Gang and gang violence has always been an ongoing problem within the country. Street gangs have evolved into some of the most notorious group associated with murders and killings that law enforcement agencies have encountered. Gang violence has become one of the most serious crime problem happening in the country that involves physical assaults, drive-by shootings, homicides, robberies, prostitutions, and home-invasion along with a long list of criminal activities. It had occurred and multiplied so fast in which it reach an all-time high epidemic of young gang people killed on the streets or entering into the juvenile and prison system throughout the country.
