Drug Trafficking In America

Each year about 17,500 individuals are brought into the United States and become victims of human trafficking. Every country has this problem and it has become the 3rd largest illegal industry worldwide.

Although human trafficking is the fastest growing process by which a person is enslaved, it is also the fastest growing international crime and one of the largest growing incomes for organised crime. It is estimated that at least 12.3 million people are victims of forced labour worldwide. Of these 2.4 million are as a result of human trafficking. Consequently it 1.2 million children are trafficked every year.(STOP THE TRAFFIK 2014) Six hundred thousand to eight hundred thousand men, women and children are trafficked across international borders each year. Approximately eighty percent are women and children and up to half of them are minors. Predominantly the vast majority of trafficked people come from the poorest countries and the poorest strata of the national people. Human trafficking is the second largest source of illegal income, being surpassed by drugs trafficking. Some trafficking groups have been reported to be switching their cargo from drugs to human beings, in a search of high profits at a lower risk. (STOP THE TRAFFIK 2014)

Every Year millions of immigrants get deported back to their countries.They try to come to the US to have a better life and have a great job.We can't judge other people.

There is estimated almost twenty-one million trafficked humans throughout the world. Sixty-eight percent of the trafficked humans are held captive and forced to work. In North and South America, there is more women trafficked than men, human trafficking is one the most traumatizing things in the world, people in this world are more worried about money, then being humane.

Drug trafficking is a major problem in the United States. More than 100,000 people are killed each year and everyone is affected. Communities are destroyed, families split apart, and billions are spent trying to keep it out.

It is clear that there have been increased occurrences of drug trafficking in the United States and the world as a whole. This increase in drug trafficking has resulted to a radical increase in the number of people who are affected by the illegal drugs. In the United States, the number has risen to about 19.9 billions. This paper will therefore discuss drug trafficking, its causes, effects, prevention and war against it. Whoever will read this paper, he or she will be able to take care of themselves from drug selling, consumption and production. The person will also be able to teach and help others on how to leave or protect themselves from drug abuse and trafficking.

In 2015, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health found that 19.9 million Americans use illegal drugs and more than half of The U.S. prison population is convicted of a drug related crime (Foundation for a Drug-Free World, 2015). The U.S. has the largest prison population in the world and drug related crimes continue to add to the prison population. Due to the high incarceration rate in the U.S., controversy over the effectiveness of our current drug legislation has emerged (Tyjen Tsai and Paola Scommegna, 2015). Current drug laws focus on imprisonment and isolation for the drug offenders. This creates a cycle of drug related criminality because the laws do not treat the motives for drug related crime. These motives include the money and addiction involved with drug offenses such as abuse, crimes to gain money for drugs, and drug selling. While arguments have been made that current drug laws are needed to ensure the stability of society, the solution to ending the cycle of drug related criminality is to focus on rehabilitation that treats motives for drug offenses by educating and treating addiction for felons. (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2015).

With globalization of trade, it is simple for crimes between criminals in the U.S and other countries to occur. For example, drug dealers from one country sneaking illegal substances and other contraband into packages and ship it off to the U.S. Drug dealers think and plan this smuggling well, in attempts to successfully enter their product into the country to sell and distribute. In 2016, there were large shipments of narcotics coming from the Caribbean to areas of Southwestern U.S. The task force comprised of the U.S Coast Guard, The Drug Enforcement Administration and other agencies. Similarly, they recruit or abduct men and boys for forced labor (such as extracting natural resources), and as soldiers or for slavery.

International drug trafficking cause a MULTITUDE of problems for many people. When a person overdoses from drugs, it doesn't just stop there, this person might have been a dad for example. This child could find themselves in foster care, run away and start drugs themselves, causing the whole problem with their father to start again on them. Drug trafficking can also force harder measures for immigrants; with all of the trafficking going on, more suspicion is brought back. It make it that much harder for immigrants to get into the country that they desire, like the U.S., and they might truly need the help. I will give each country’s legal tradition and their major influences on crime definition, rate, and measurement. What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear of the region Latin America? Poverty, violence, drugs? Latin America is a major region where drugs are generated, imported, and exported. The general stereotype with regards to Latin America is that the region is drug infested due to the history of use, the problems regarding drug trafficking, and the continued statistics proving the ongoing use of drugs. Despite the fact that not every country in Latin America fits in this mold, history and data supports this impression.
