The movie “Driving Miss Daisy” can be utilized as a prime example of many of the topics and psychological processes discussed in my Developmental Psychology class. Displaying some of the hardships and struggles of getting older, this movie is about an elderly woman named Daisy who is having a hard time accepting the changes that are occurring in her life due to getting older in age. Her inclining age has affected her overtime and is taking a toll on her both mentally and physically, although the movie focuses on her memory. Throughout the movie Daisy forms new relationships and experiences many different and new things to her, which allows her stubborn mentality to appear, as well as her unwillingness to accept the situations present in her life. The way in which Daisy deals with these situations and new relationships, allows viewers to truly grasp what it is like to experience real-life memory problems due to getting older. It is perfectly normal to be more forgetful as your age increases, although there is a difference between experiencing the typical memory loss that most elderly adults experience and experiencing signs and symptoms of dementia. “The primary difference between age-related memory loss and dementia is that the former …show more content…
