Draco Malfoy hated Christmas. He hated it with a burning passion, and about this time every year, the fire was ignited again. It was December 1st. A wonderful day, had you asked any other Londoner, but to Draco Malfoy all of December was nothing more than a month of greediness and lies.
Ever since he was little, this beloved holiday had meant absolutely nothing to him. The mansion he lived in was decorated and filled to the top with ornaments and tinsel, but it felt emptier than ever. His parents were generous, sure, but only as far as Christmas gifts went. Love was a luxury in the Malfoy Manor. At least that’s what his father used to say. But Draco loved him regardless, and had he been a little boy, he’d long for Christmas morning when he’d finally get a hug from

An unusual sight, since most of his meals were usually cooked by a professional.
“No thanks, mother. I’ve no appetite.” He called back, before heading to his room to make sure the letter was real and not just a dream.
He read it again. And again. And again. He lost track of how many times he’d read it and suddenly, he knew it by heart. He could only imagine what kind of blokes Potter had invited. Ron Weasley was surely coming, and that Hermione Granger girl they both hang out with was definitely welcome as well. Draco hoped there would be students from the drama department there, like Luna Lovegood, or perhaps Dean Thomas. Pansy Parkinson would also be delightful to have there, or Blaise with his wit. But Draco knew not to be too hopeful. Potter couldn’t invite everyone, after all.
Right as he was about to put the letter down, he remembered something. The note. He turned, what seemed to be an empty envelope, upside-down and out came a small, neatly folded piece of paper that landed on his lap. He was far too eager to see whom he’d be Christmas shopping for, and anxiously opened the note.

Knoxville, Tennessee is known for many things, especially known as a college town. Little did anyone know that on March 26, 1968 a superstar would be born, and the star would not be known for throwing, running, or catching footballs but singing (“Kenny Chesney.”)? The country genre did not know it for a while, but it had a person that was going to bring country music to new heights. With a mix of some traditional country music mix with some rock country and island country music it would make Kenny Chesney a very successful country artist.
To him, it was like fun and games by being harsh against Christmas, and making little kids cry; but that was changed when Jacob Marley came in.
To begin, his hatred of Christmas extends from his materialistic view of Christmas. Evidently, the Grinch explains his specific hatred for the noise that comes associated with the gifts within his monologue. Perhaps, the Grinch does not hate Christmas as a whole but only the materialistic aspects of it.
It also shows that we should all enjoy Christmas as a time to spend with family and not a time to just be home from school. As a matter of fact, The Grinch said “Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. ”(29) “Maybe Christmas . . . perhaps . . . means a little bit more!”(29)
When most people think of December they tend to think about Christmas. It is supposed to be a time of everyone coming together, being joyful, and
Scrooge always used to think that Christmas was “a time for paying bills without money” (3) and that is was a “humbug” (3). Now he feels Christmas is a time for giving thanks to all the people around him. Enjoying time with family and having fun, even if it meant spending money. “He was so fluttered and glowing with good intention… ‘ A merry Christmas to everybody! A happy New Year to all the world’” (63). He now feels the love and happiness of the holidays he never felt before. Scrooge ignored all the hate people were giving him after his change. He would usually just laughed along with them. He knew what he was doing was right, and he continued doing it for the rest of his
Home in today’s society can be described in many ways, but is ultimately expressed as more of a feeling of safety and love. Sonsyrea Tate claims "You can leave home all you want, but home will never leave you." In essence, the feeling of home is a part of the character and who he/she will become. In Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, Pip examines the true meaning of home and how the subjective opinion of home can reflect who a person becomes. He illustrates this idea using recurring appearances of home-like symbols, the way Pip’s definition of home changes throughout the novel, and how he shows Pip’s acquired feelings after moving into higher society.
It can be argued that Christmas as a holiday is far removed from the way it was first envisioned. That said, there are certain element that many people share or celebrate making it an arguably complex holiday. As the preeminent children’s author of his generation, Geisel serving heavily on the minds of his young readers helped shape what Christmas means for many people with his narrative How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. Though at the surface the work is a simple morality tale that promotes unity over consumerism, it has subtle nuances that make the work interesting on several
Harry Potter at first didn’t know anyone and didn’t know anything about Hogwarts. His goal was to fit in. Throughout Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Harry seems to make new goals for himself. Then one of his quests/goals is to go and stop who he thought was Snape but it was actually Professor Quirrell and Voldemort. Harry Potter’s quest changed from fitting into saving Hogwarts from Voldemort, or as they say He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. In trying to fulfill his quest he met some friends and of course some
Harry potter and the prisoner of Azkaban is an excellent book. Out of ten stars I would rate this one an eight because it was to short. Once you get into it and finish it. It seems so short, because it is so interesting. Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban starts out with a bang. In the beginning Sirius black a Man accused of thirteen murders in one night escapes from Azkaban.( A wizard prison guarded to the tee by dementors, deadly spirits that feast on anything happy. Basically they suck the life out of you slowly until you go mad and lose sanity). Harry runs away on the same night and crosses the man without realizing it. Since Sirius is an ananamugus he is able to turn into a giant black
I get to put on my big jacket and my gloves, rushing to the school to launch poorly formed snowballs at my friends. Winter is all about Christmas though. I couldn't escape it, everything around me felt magical. My school always held activities involving Christmas somehow. Wether it be a lesson on the history of Christmas or just connect the dots that unsurprisingly managed to form a reindeer or jolly old saint Nicholas himself - it didn't matter. I was ecstatic for Christmas. When the day came, presents packed around the tree coated in fake snow, I ripped into each present with anticipation and excitement plastered over my face. A brand new update on the toys i owned. Then Christmas dinner at my grans soon after: the classic turkey and gravy shoved into my face, as my family told jokes and wore hats they got from the Christmas crackers. It was too big to fit my small head, but it was Christmas, there was no such thing as
My book report is on the book 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone' by J.K.
In the book and movie series Harry Potter, the famous boy wizard goes through his many years of schooling at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, making new friends like his best friends, Ron and Hermione, as well as creating enemies like Draco Malfoy. Along with his friends Ron and Hermione, Harry continuously puts an end to the many different forms of the evil Lord Voldemort that tries to attack Harry each year. It is later on in the series when the interactions with Lord Voldemort become more frequent and more deadly. This is when Albus Dumbledore, the famous Headmaster of Hogwarts, teaches, instructs, and guides Harry to his ultimate goal of defeating Lord Voldemort, finally bringing peace to their world once again. In relation to the Jungian Literary Archetypes, Harry Potter represents the Hero, Albus Dumbledore represents the Wise Old Man, and Lord Voldemort represents the Witch or Sorceress.
The movie adaptation of J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a very pivotal movie in the series. Like the book, this movie is crucial in setting up an understanding for the rest of the series. Therefore it is important that the movie complements the novel as much as possible. Using one of the most essential features of a movie; visual imagery, the movie adaptation of the fourth novel is a good accompaniment for the novel. The visual imagery in this movie emphasizes emotions and reactions that we cannot possibly obtain from the book. For example, the death of Cedric Diggory at the end of the movie strikes a powerful emotional response as a result of his father, Amos Diggory’s grief. Seeing him cry makes the audience more
In the past couple years, there has been a growing phenomenon in the world of children's literature, this phenomenon is Harry Potter. J.K. But once one starts reading any of the four books, it is plain to see why these books are so popular.
