Dr. McCloud is an individual that had very straightforward goals that will improve Johnson County Community College. I notice that he is an individual that think about ways of improvements and what its best for the students. This first goal and objective is understanding the students situations and JCCC handling and knowing what they could provide to the students concerning to the resources that could help them in the long run. His second goal is having that feeling of connection between the students and professors in regards to what the professor could do in order to be a resource for students. Last but not least, his third goal is maintaining the strengths of academics in order to provide the necessary tools and skills for students to use
Brightwater Community College System is a rapidly growing community college system located in the central Georgia area. This community college system is comprised of four separate colleges and a systems office located in downtown Atlanta; these colleges are the Cobb County College (CCC), Atlanta Metropolitan College (AMC), Brightwater North College (BNC), and Brightwater Macon College (BMC). Brightwater has an unduplicated student headcount of 75,000 and the colleges enrollment has consistently grown year over year. At the helm of the college system is the system’s President Dr. James Lowe; Lowe has served as the President of the college system for 17 years and has seen the college grow from one standalone college in downtown Atlanta to the 4 college system that exists today. Lowe is planning to announced a three-year succession plan at the end of which he plans to step down from the role of President and turn the reigns of the institution over to another individual. Part of Lowe’s three-year plan involves a realignment of the organization’s instructional and student services to meet the future needs of Brightwater.
Dr. Steven Greer is a retired medical doctor that funded the Center for Study of Extra-Terrestrials. He has conducted lots of research through the intelligence agency from the military, government, and corporate witnesses. He first came out with the disclosure of alien activity in 2001. He has furthered his research over the years and has been threatened to stay quiet. Dr. Greer refuses to stay in the dark about this topic, it needs to be out. Here, Dr. Steven Greer has written to the president to inform him of some important matters:
Central Valley College functions with two major stakeholder groups, which are the trustee board and president’s cabinet. Although they are outwardly the main stakeholders, the faculty senate, and particular staff members play significant roles in change efforts.
Students at Amherst County High who say teachers lack personality have yet to meet Dr. McFaden. Dr. McFaden is the supervisor for equity assurance and online learning at Amherst County High. Dr. McFaden has a doctorate in Concentration and in MultiCultural Education. She earned her Master's degree from Lynchburg College, two bachelor's degrees from CVCC and her doctorate from UVA. Out of all the colleges she attended, which total twenty four years, Dr. McFaden only paid for one. She said her secret was earning the best grades possible and applying for many scholarships. In fact, Dr. McFaden said that throughout her time at college she only earned one B, and the rest of her grades were A’s.
In the book Into the Wild the main character, Chris Mccandless, made a rational decision to exclude himself from human society because he believed that going beyond what his parents and society wanted he would live a happier life. Chris wanted to leave society and venture into the wilderness to find the true meaning of who he was. Chris Mccandless was neither crazy or ignorant to live off in the wild where there was no people or anything to interact with but nature. Chris wanted to find his inner self and not only was he a role model for kids all across the country but he also followed his dream. Even though it was selfish of him to leave his family, Chris Mccandless is not crazy because he followed his dream, lived his life the way he wanted to, and went into the wild to find who he truly was.
Let’s be honest, we all loved a good comic book when we were younger, but now that we are older there are few things thought to be more childish than reading a picture book. This is exactly what Scott McCloud has set out to change with his graphic essay from Show and Tell. Being a cartoonist himself, he has set out to change our perspective on comic books from our default categorization in being for children, to being a possible contender in the adult reading scene. By showing the underlying complexity that goes into the formation of a comic McCloud is able to give a clear understanding that comic books are not as simple or easy to create as the general population believes. In conclusion, I thought this experience was very informative. From the safety procedures that are up in coming, to some bigger decisions to keep students safe. The helping hand we are about to see with the math courses and how they are offering tutors. To the discussion about how community colleges have helped past graduates and our current generation. The town hall meeting was a great opportunity for students to see on going problems be addressed
Students nowadays face many challenges when it comes to obtaining a college education. We evaluate an institution’s quality based on what we need the most. The qualities sought out may vary by each person’s personal point of view. However, as a student, I’ve found that most students seek for an institute that benefits them the most. Attending a community college has been an enormous advantage towards my education. I have been attending San Bernardino Valley College for the last two semesters. I have come to respect their philosophies and values. The institution has now been in business for 87 years. They venture to encourage both students and faculty towards high standards of achievement and progress into exceptional members of the society. They now offer a variety of degrees, transfer programs and certificates for a wide range of students. San Bernardino Valley College has an accomplished staff, student support services and technological tools that pave the road towards the conquest of a quality education.
Community Colleges were developed with the purpose of providing an affordable and accessible education. By providing students with both academic and learning skills, community colleges continue to remain an essential part of today’s society. Throughout the years, community colleges have continued to develop and transform to provide resources to meet the needs of their students. As new community colleges began to develop, it is critical that they are aware of the political issues that community colleges face. For this assignment, I will discuss the University of District of Columbia Community College and its governance. In addition, I will provide information on federal and local government involvement, leadership structure, political culture, student demographics, and community groups. Lastly, I will provide recommendations on how to address the issue of governance.
There isn't anything more important to community colleges than the certainty that they can and should provide all qualified people who are looking to be accepted with admittance (Vaughan). The people of the community college represent forty-four percent of all undergraduates and forty-nine percent of students attending college for the first time (David). These students include a lot of minority students, students with a low social standing and the non-standard (age twenty-five and older) student who commonly enters college less academically equipped (David). Most community colleges have made immense advancement in reducing a lot of geographical and economic blockades that have in the past limited college admittance (David). Community
Community college is a great institution for students to start their educational journey. Especially when they do not have the funds or lack some of the prerequisite that a university would require. Community college was created to serve the community, traditional and non-traditional students with the best higher education and lifetime learning opportunities. The faculty and staff members at a community college is there to provide leadership in education while going above and beyond to recognize the needs of the students and the community by providing excellent educational programs and support services that are available to all who have the opportunity to take advantage of them. “Student services now include recruitment and retention, counseling, student activities, student health, financial aid, academic support, career centers, transfer centers, and supplemental services such as transportation, child care, and services tailored for specific populations of students” (Cohen, Brawer, & Krisker, 2014, pg. 209). My philosophy in fulfilling the role and mission of the community college, is to establish the mission, vision, goals and values to guide all students on their journey to strive to become successful both in school and in today’s economy.
The purpose of this research paper is to explore the altered missions of community colleges and related impacts on the historical mission of community colleges. The mission of community colleges were intended to serve all individuals with an equal opportunity for higher education access. In this research paper, there will be four guided questions:
One threat CCM faces is the twenty other county colleges and private colleges that it competes with. As more people are turning to community colleges for a more cost effective education, CCM must find ways to differentiate itself from its competitors. Another threat the institution faces is an economic recession in the Unites States. Alan Gula, Wallstreet Daily’s Chief Income Analyst, stated in his May 18, 2015 article titled “U.S. Economy Edges Closer to Recession” the U.S. economy is contracting and may result in another recession (Gula). Recessions lead to layoffs, liquidity dries up, and credit becomes scarce. The County College of Morris must plan how they will serve current and potential students if Gula’s predictions are
While they do have a tremendous focus on workforce development and training, the opportunity to take a more active role in higher education exists. By adjusting their focus to act as a bridge for students, the community college has the ability to soften the transition financially and educationally. Community colleges must move beyond their reliance on open acceptance policies and actively pursue students who would otherwise attend universities. By offering comparable course tracks that will challenge and educate they can move even further past the image of being a second class institution. More focus must be placed on both building articulation agreements with the universities and educating potential students about the benefits of making the community the next stop on their education
Chris Mccandless was a man that many would call crazy or maybe even immoral. He left everything to live in the wild and become “one with nature”. He had determination, a strong mindset, fearlessness and courage. I believe that my life and the life of Chris Mccandless are not similar in any aspect. In fact I wish that my life was more like his and that I had the drive and determination to do what he did.
