An event that relates to Golding’s theme in the modern world is the election of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States. President Trump has risen from a television personality to the leader of our country. He has put in place trade bans and promised to build a wall around our borders to keep out immigrants. He is cutting America off from the rest of the world. Many other countries see our President as closed-minded and foolish. It is surprising how many people still support his actions, as many of them have been rash and for only his benefit and the benefit of more wealthy people. He Tweets about his actions as if he is correct and the whole world around him is wrong. His recurring comments about his presidential behavior undermine
Imagine that Donald Trump wasn't a businessman? I think he brought up the stocks, they are high. He is a President for the United States. He has or had four different businesses. He was in a Reality TV show. Donald trump has different talents and that he is a Renaissance man.
One example of Goldings pessimism being shown in his book is the boy's descent into savagery without rules set up by others. At first they try to make rules of their own but there is no real backing behind any of them to keep them from disobeying.
Golding’s beliefs about human nature are similar to Nietzsche’s “will to power”. Nietzsche explains that we adapt in order to survive. As human beings we tend to be pressured at times in order to
I. The basis of all rhetoric is Logos, Ethos, and Pathos. Logos, used to insert logic into a speech; Pathos, used to add an emotional effect; and Ethos, used to convince someone of credibility and character with ethics. In President Donald Trump's inaugural speech, Logos, Ethos, and Pathos is varied but, is not always used in a strong, effective manner.
18). Golding tries to describe that in human social life, there always emerges a leader or let’s just say, there is competition between people to be better than the others; to stand higher than the others. One of the first things they do is pick a leader which signifies that mankind greeds power. Of course conditions and circumstances always do not come handy, but if there is a chance, there is always a feeling of standing ahead of others.
Golding wanted to reveal to the reader his point of view and theory of human nature. He wanted to make it clear that each member of humankind has a dark side, which is portrayed
The election is over and now more than ever unity as a nation is important. Donald Trump is the 45th president of the United States. The statement leaves a sour taste on our tongue. We stated that we don’t agree with Trump’s policy and behavior; the paper will not go back on it’s word but we recognize that it is the duty of every citizen of this great nation to give the president elect a chance to govern. Then, the people must use the powers of a democratic system to make the government have the constituents interests in mind.
Downgrading. That is this election in a nutshell. I have not felt more annoyed with politics and media outlets than ever before, since Donald Trump announced his candidacy on June 16, 2015 ,with those empty four words "Make America Great Again" , we learned that Trump is nothing, but a whining child that erupts on any ounce of criticism from either side. Why did he gain the support of voters with such minuet substance, like building a wall or banning all Muslims? I believe voters fell into the same trap as Bernie supporters , by appealing to people with on the spot ideas without any real consideration. The validity of free college is equivalent to building a wall paid for by Mexico, both are incompatible in the real world.
Will Donald Trump fulfill America’s request and actually “make America great again”? When friends of mine who are Trump supporters inform me that they support him, I don’t understand the reasons why they picture him as our future president of the united states. Donald Trump has never been an elected official. He has never been elected into an office of any kind. He’s never had to broker political compromise or gave any political speeches prior to him running for president. With no experience in politics at all, why would people think he’d make a good president? Sure, Donald Trump is a barefaced self-promoter and experienced businessman. But people don’t realize all of the mistakes he has made as a businessman. Washington, D.C., is not a type of Wall Street or anything for him to lose money or make some reckless decisions that would put our country into a deeper hole that we are already into, and also getting multiple things done within the nation’s capital takes more than a huge personality and a strong will. If Donald Trump is elected to be our president, he’ll have to quickly learn how to deal with his Democratic associates in the House of Representatives and Senate. He’ll also have to get used to the pace of government because there are moments when things can accelerate pretty quickly and also where things can move extremely slow at times. He’ll also have to get used to giving speeches on topics
With the rise of Donald Trump in the United States and of European far right wing parties (some with fascist tendencies) we are seeing a new rise of conservatism in the western world in the last years. Why has this happened so fast? Is a natural tendency that follows too liberal and progressive governments?
Mark Twain’s novel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, follows the story of a young runaway boy on a raft down the Mississippi River in the mid-nineteenth century; Huck is joined on his adventure by an escaped slave named Jim. “Twain purposely wrote the novel as a picaresque” (Sims) in which every event has an effect on the hero. As he travels down the river, Huck meets many people including two men who claim to be a duke and a dauphin, or a king. These two men turn out to be nothing more than conmen; however, they have an enormous role in the novel. Before the duke and the king joined Huck, the novel was, for the most part, peaceful; however, “with the introduction of the duke and the dauphin, the novel 's idyll curdles” (Updike). Because the duke and the dauphin provide a negative example of morality, expose the ignorance of the American public, and aid in Huck’s overall maturation they play a critical role throughout the novel.
Task: Does William Golding present a realistic portrayal of how savage humankind can be? Or does he underestimate the goodness in people? Does Golding’s use of WWII as the backdrop have a significant impact on our understanding of human nature?
For a political party that wants to unite our country, there sure is a lot of divisive talk at the 2016 DNC. But exactly who were these speakers talking so negative about Donald Trump? Well, they were Democrat Politicians, no surprise there. They were union leaders whose lobbyists steer Democrat Politicians to serve their will over all of ours. They were people getting free-stuff from the government, who'd like that windfall to continue their way. They were presidents of non-profits, every social cause known to mankind receiving government assistance. They were so-called minority groups claiming victimhood - demanding a greater voice, even when they were represented by politicians in some of the highest government offices there speaking for them.
Two scenes later, Shakespeare delves deeper into Lady Macbeth's character which adds another perspective to the predicament Macbeth finds himself faced with. Lady Macbeth makes apparent, to the audience, regarding her husband, that she has 'fear' concerning 'thy nature', and that Macbeth is 'too full o' th' milk of human kindness'. This suggests that Lady Macbeth fears that her husband is incapable of producing what she deems necessary for him to gain the kingship. He possesses the desire, but the ruthlessness required in order to secure kingship and usurp the throne, is something that Lady Macbeth opts to take upon herself after minimal deliberation, which reveals much about her and her husband, in terms of Lady Macbeth's dominance that would shock a contemporary audience. The word 'milk' is perhaps alluding to her belief that Macbeth doesn't possess the strength of character that at the time was seemingly synonymous with masculinity. The audience may well feel as though Lady Macbeth believes that Macbeth yearns for the kingship, yet he will not be proactive in going about obtaining it by illegitimate means as she labels him as too kind to take a leading role in an approach of that ilk. Shakespeare arguably here raises a wider debate by using the play as a mouthpiece to voice his concerns regarding the twisted society of the time in that kindness could be seen as something that would be detrimental to an individual. Shakespeare also perhaps intends to voice concerns over
