The song “Don’t Take The Girl” by Tim McGraw was released in March 1994 from his album Not a Moment Too Soon. This song was McGraw’s fifth overall single, and his first number- one single on the Hot Country Songs chart. This song is very emotional and tells a powerful story. The song describes two young lovers dealing with very difficult situations at three stages/ ages in their lives. In each situation the man does all he can to make sure different people “don’t take the girl.” The first verse of the song tells about the guy, “Johnny” who is eight years old and going on a fishing trip with his dad.
