We talk about domestic violence when in an intimate relationship or marriage tries to dominate and control the other person. Exert power over their partner in the context of a relationship. Physical abuse can be actions such as hitting, slapping, biting and more. Although it sometimes refers to violence against other members of a household such as children. Different types of abuse can occur: physical, emotional, and sexual. Domestic violence affect individual in every community. It is a serious social problem in the world, this type of abuse sometimes refuse to press charges against their aggressors. In most cases, the abusers are men and the victims are women. But anyone can be a victim of domestic violence.

Children who are exposed to domestic violence they may experience negative effects like emotional, mental and social damage, including academic problems, anxiety, behavioral problems, insomnia and irritability. They could becoming sick more often having headaches or stomachache. That can affect them for the rest of their life. Children experience Domestic Violence in many ways. First is when they hear or see one of their parents physically hurt the other and, cause injuries. I know that adult who grows up in families where they have been abused as children or when they see a parent beats the other learned that domestic violence is something normal but this is the principle problem for the children. I do not agree with any kind of abuses. I believe that nobody is allow to suffer abuse. You may love your partner but no one deserves your love if they beating you. You cannot accept this abuse. Domestic violence is not a game; this is a serious problem and we need to find a solution to this problem. Couples should maintain a healthy, respectful romantic relationship as a model for their children. How we act in our committed relationships is largely the result of how we experienced relationships in our families of origin.
There are many different types of domestic violence. Physical abuse is the most obvious form, but this is not to say that outsiders always recognize it. Generally, physical violence causes bodily harm, using a variety of methods. Slapping, pushing, throwing, hitting, punching, and strangling are only a few methods. An object or weapon may or may not be used. There is not always physical evidence of physical abuse such as bruising, bleeding, scratches, bumps, etc., therefore, absence of physical marks does not necessarily mean physical abuse had not occurred. Physical abuse sometimes escalates to murder (Morris and Biehl 7, Haley 14-17).

Domestic Violence has no universally accepted definition but it cuts across all religions, castes, ethnic groups, backgrounds and countries and is a global phenomenon. Anyone of any age group from children to old people could be victims of domestic violence. The son, wife, husband, mother, father, sister, brother, girlfriend or any other relative could be abused. The legal, everyday definition may change in different parts of the world but in its most basic form, domestic violence could be said to be a behavior by a person, which is coercive in nature, towards any other family member, partner, ex-partner, children which is intended to dominate and gain power and control of the other party. It is estimated that between 10 and 20 percent of children in the United States are exposed to domestic violence annually (Carrell & Hoekstra, 2010). What are the thoughts and feelings of children who are exposed to violence within the home? Children who are exposed to domestic violence can become fearful and anxious. They tend to be on guard, watching and waiting for the next event to occur, a sense of hypervigilance. What are the outcomes of these children as they get older? Does the cycle of abuse continue as adults? The answers to these questions will be further discussed in this paper.

Some children may development resentment toward both parents- one for not leaving and the other for causing the abuse. Depression, aggressive behavior, emotional distress and suicide depending on the severity are all signs of effects on children. This paper will review various literatures that identify the effects of domestic violence exposure on children. There were many trends in the literatures that were studied but there were two common trends worth mentioning. The first trend was the participants that were used in the studies. Many of the literatures mention that previous studies mainly gathered information from women and children who resided in battered women shelters. The second trend was the methods used for the studies. Many of the studies used surveys and interviews where women and children self-reported on their experiences.
