In the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Christopher’s perspective exceedingly impacts the narrative of the story. Christopher makes many decisions that the reader would not expect a teenager to do, and this alters the story to make it much more unusual. First of all, Christopher’s decision to pick up the dog has an impression on the whole story and what happens along the way, most people would not go up to a bleeding dog furthermore, pick it up; however, Christopher explains, “I pulled the fork out of the dog and lifted him into my arms and hugged him.” (Haddon 3). It is this goal that adds so much to the narrative. Christopher's father tells Christopher to stop investigating and getting into other people's business; however, Christopher's does not obey his father wishes for his will to be a great detective is too great for example, “ and if your detective you have to take risks, and this was a super good day, which meant it was a good day for taking risks”(Haddon 57). Christopher is disobeying his father's commands and continuing to investigate to get to the bottom of this murder. As the reader, you know most people wouldn't investigate or care too much, they will go on the daily news to learn more about the topic is they are curious. But, Christopher's, unlike many other people, is desperate, this alters the whole story. Without Christopher's will to be a detective the story wouldn't have its rising action leading to the climax, in fact, there wouldn't be a climax. Comparable to the last point without Christopher’s perspective the narrative of the story would be very different. The reader learns Christopher's perspective is crucial to the plot of the story.
