Living in today’s society it is extremely hard to imagine growing up in a house that is occupied by eight other families. However, this was the case for all children living in seventeenth century Huronia. Due to the fact that the seventeenth century was so far in the past, that it is difficult to fathom what life must have been like growing up in these circumstances, as the inhabitants of this time are not around anymore. With the help of archaeology we are able to distinguish many aspects of seventeenth century Huron life. Using applied archaeology, replicas of the longhouses can be made to represent the true size of these buildings. There are evident soil burns, which show hearths within a long house, implying the amount of families that occupied the building. Although this archaeology paints a general picture of their civilization, to get a truer representation of seventeenth century life, analysis of actual Jesuit missionary accounts should be conducted.
In the late 19th century as artists like Van Gogh and Cézanne expanded the boundaries of painting. Soon, a movement arose that sought to create an entirely new style of art, and one way of doing so was to look beyond Western civilization. For example, Paul Gauguin moved to the island of Tahiti in the 1890s. There, he found inspiration in the island's inhabitants, landscape, and culture to create artwork that intertwined European themes and Polynesian lore. Others looked the cultures of the Islamic world, but the most influential inspiration would come from Sub-Saharan Africa. As European empires expanded deeper into the African continent, its artifacts and artworks made their way into the hands of museums and collectors. One such collector

The Republic of Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa where the power lies with the people. They have a governmental system which is somewhat similar to that of the United States. They hold elections, have certain requirements for candidates and have two primary political parties, though a third is fighting for a chance in power. It is divided into several districts and provinces and has fairly good relations with many other countries. Sierra Leone is also existing proof that colonization can have beneficial effects on a country without nearly, or completely, eliminating a way of life.
Chad – landlocked country in Central Africa.[1] It is bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon and Nigeria to the southwest, and Niger to the west. Due to its distance from the sea and its largely desert climate, the country is sometimes referred to as the "Dead Heart of Africa". Chad is divided into three major geographical regions: a desert zone in the north, an arid Sahelian belt in the centre and a more fertile Sudanese savanna zone in the south. Lake Chad, after which the country is named, is the largest wetland in Chad and the second largest in Africa. Chad's highest peak is the Emi Koussi in the Sahara, and N'Djamena, the capital, is the largest city. Chad is home to over

Changes in life are very strong and effective on the personality, point of view, and thoughts toward everything, set aside tiny life changes like cereal brands, hair styles and different routes to work or school, although these changes might cause memorable bad days they don’t qualify as an imprint that might change you as a person. Cultural changes on the other hand, without doubt qualify for imprinting strongly on your life, how this culture walks, speaks, dresses and is seen by the world would without doubt pressure you into changing your point of view in the world, whether it was just a getaway travel to a new place or a complete move or transfer, seeking settlement

As early as 70,000 years ago, humans and their ancestors have felt the need to expand. Scientific evidence supports the Out of Africa theory, which suggests that all humans have common ancestors from Africa who migrated to other continents over thousands of years. The necessity to expand continues to this day, with a mission to send humans to Mars underway. Human movement (an act of changing physical location) has influenced the development of civilizations (the stage of human social development and organization that is considered most advanced) studied this semester. Religious, political, and economic development of civilizations were influenced by the migration of humans.

United States has always been described as the land of opportunity and freedom. Most people who visit America are more likely to stay due to its beauty and the opportunities that are available to succeed, so I was confident than I would be spending most of my life here. By the time I got the U.S, school was about to start. I finished 7th grade before I came to the United States, so I was supposed to be in 8th grade once school starts; however, the principle of the middle school that I was going to attend stated that I was too young to advance to 8th grade; therefore, I have to repeat 7th grade. When I started school, I had to face many challenges since I did not speak English. During the first year of school, I have struggled a lot thought out my classes especially in my English class. Since I did not understand English, I did not understand what my teachers were saying so it was impossible for me to complete the assigned tasks and perform well in class. This situation is basically similar to an American student taking advanced Spanish class for the first time and telling him/her to pass the class without knowing any Spanish at

Race, a group of people of common ancestry, distinguished from others by physical characteristics, such as hair type, colour of eyes and skin, stature, etc. It seems that race is to right in the middle of problems these days. Racism is a very big problem in everyday life, it shouldn’t be a problem at all, but unfortunately, people don’t see others how they really are. They assume just by looking at a color. Author Harper Lee of To Kill A Mockingbird, took real-life race problems and used them as inspiration. These connections are Jim Crow laws, mob mentality, and the famous Scottsboro trials.
