The world is like one huge jigsaw puzzle, composed of a plethora pieces of different sizes, shapes, and colors. These pieces can either interconnect with one another to create a beautiful art piece or stay broken apart and remain in a chaotic state. Similarly, people of different cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds in the world can choose to either embrace the diversity of the one true human race and unify together in peace or they can choose to despise the arbitrary differences between people, which develops into bitter conflicts. Despite tremendous progress in modern society concerning social issues, it is often the differences between people that are the driving forces behind several prominent issues in the world today. Hence in …show more content…
All of these conflicts over race, religion, and other differences are often extremely subjective and are baseless in the realm of fact and logic. Generally, it is my philosophy that people should have the freedom to have their own beliefs and opinions, but when these beliefs and opinions start breeding hatred and unjustly transgressing on the wellbeing of others it is absolutely unacceptable and utterly ridiculous. If more people just accepted opinions as just opinions, the world would be a much more unprejudiced and peaceful …show more content…
Throughout this project, Lamar utilized a diverse array of cadences and flows to greatly intensified the impact of the narratives he delivered. For example, on his track “Blacker the Berry” he utilized an aggressive flow and angry voice inflection in order to express his frustrations with the racial hypocrisy’s in society, while on his track “You Ain’t Gotta Lie” he employed a friendly and smooth flow with a high-pitch delivery to match the very endearing and positive message of the track. Similarly, in my collage I tell dual narratives of a dark and serious nature and of a more positive and uniting nature, through the words I have written and the images I’ve selected. The facets of my collage that deal with the harsh truths of the world in narrative form like Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly are the images of the Syrian refugees getting tripped by a reporter, Eric Garner getting taken down by police officers, the Palestinian man throwing a rock, Israel bombing Gaza and a Israeli woman and a Palestinian man crying. To contrast this dark narrative, I placed images of musicians with unifying messages, like Kendrick Lamar and Kamasi Washington, a massive globe, the pictures from Forest Hills, and a symbolic split face in the center of the collage. Also, I placed the peace sign in the center of the circle, as sort of a focal point to demonstrate the beauty
As civilians we live in a world predicated and pronounced on difference ,a world in which havoc and chaos affirms our differences and presents us as a nation struggling to find our self-identity. We are faced with serious and complex criminal and racial challenges that proves our estrange.our divide occurred as soon as men were created and we are left with the incessant clicking that is injustice, which was thought to be corrected by our forefathers.

Racism is one of the biggest problems today. As we look back, a considerable measure of our history is based on racial discrimination, hatred, and African Americans being treated as slaves. The Shadow of Hate revolves around a history of intolerance in America, and how the origins of race affected American people. The Shadow of Hate was an eye opener as it shows how the native Americans, Japanese Americans, African Americans, Jews, and Hispanics were treated back in the days. In this paper, I am going to summarize the documentary and compose my perspectives on what I think about it.
Difference makes everyone individuals; nobody is absolutely the same because of differences. Sometimes our differences cause feuds, arguments, and controversies. Everyone is their own person due to differences and that what makes us the people we are.
Confucius once explain that, "An Oppressive government is to be feared more than a tiger". Ideally, a political system that has been formed on hatred and torment is a system that will be feared enough to be followed, but not forever. George Orwell 's 1984 was published in 1949 during the heated conflict of Word War II and consists of a government known as the Party which symbolizes the totalitarian governments of the war. This fictional novel depicts Orwell 's hypothesis of what the world would eventually be like if the totalitarianistic governments of his time we 're not abolished. The novel itself does not clarify the fall of the hate-driven Party, but the appendix describes the eventual death of this government. Much like Nazi Germany and Communist Russia of World War II, the Party is fictional proof that a government developed off of hate and fear would become painfully immoral and inhumane but would never infinitely survive.
How would feel if your life was filled with hate and discrimination? Racism has been around since almost the beginning of the agricultural revolution and persists through the centuries and will possibly continue through the years to come. We believe that racism is never socially acceptable no matter where in the world you because of how it shows the ignorance that years of hard work tried to overturn.
Kendrick Lamar is famous for his unique West Coast style and dynamic rhymes that unapologetically discuss “political issues”. In his song, “The Blacker The Berry”, Lamar uses a striking amount of end rhyme and metaphors to deliver his message to listeners. As Lamar begins to tell how others view him, or the black body, he maintains a flow using multiple lines with end rhyme. Areas in the song, such as lines 13 and 14, provide an example of keeping the flow throughout the song by using
Differences seem to be the only thing we see in our world today- different appearances, different ideas, different cultures and beliefs. They are what define us; what give us each a uniqueness that is the reason our species thrives. But, when we are not accepting of our differences, when we refuse to see that our outlook on life is not the only one, many conflicts can arise. Unfortunately, this happens all too often, with differences often being seen in a negative light, casting the shadow of conflict over the world. However, there is an easy fix to this problem, although simple is not always equal to easy. Yet, I believe that when we connect to those different from ourselves, we can open up a path to a more peaceful society.
As a result, the native citizens may develop the prejudice against the immigrants because of the disparity and the diversity of cultures (Castles, Stephen, Haas, and Miller 18). Alternatively, it is true that individuals cannot believe in strangers until they are confident of their traits irrespective of whether they have good intentions or not. Therefore, the difference in the level of civilization may cause conflicts among the individuals because there is no shared understanding and trust. Also, people may clash or oppose each other’s opinions more often when they have different backgrounds since neither of them would allow criticism and discrimination all the time. The incidences are practical in many places such as the institutions of learning where individuals from different cultures may be considered enemies. Similarly, it is common in the work areas where employees segregation regarding cultural background (Castles, Stephen, Haas, and Miller 18). Moreover, the lack of trust may develop a due lack of a common language or type of religion, for an instant, the Muslims believe to be radical in terrorism all over the
Kendrick Lamar, an artist who had grown up in Compton, writes about his struggles of discrimination and growing up in a gang-filled city in the form of hip-hop. The mark of success of bearing witness through music is the inspiration of those listening
Unlike many other mainstream artists, Kendrick Lamar attaches great importance to the lyrics of his songs. Lamar’s song “DNA”, released last April, became a real breakthrough in the world of hip-hop music. In this song, Lamar reflects on various social issues faced by the modern African-American community of the USA. The song’s lyrics, as well as the music video, portrays the most common stereotypes and biases labeled to the African-American community. The central aim of the song is to sarcastically demonstrate the image of African-Americans as they are viewed by biased media. By the use of symbolical sarcasm and double meanings, Lamar underlines the acuteness of the race inequality that remains existing in the modern America.
People come in a vast variety of colors, shapes, sizes, personalities, and goals. Yet, somehow, humans are very much alike through our passion, our love, our sadness, our loss. Humans are all in this world together and, despite our differences, people have a choice to make - whether we will look past these surface differences and together strive to achieve a common goal. In both the poem Human Family, by Maya Angelou, and Barack Obama’s Speech On Race, spoken by Barack Obama, there are multiple common beliefs shared. The idea that humans do, in fact, different in various ways is one of these.
After the recent shootings in the African-American community, we cannot go one day without hearing about random acts of violence on our fellow police officers’. Hate and racial discrimination are only one of the many concerns I have for humanity today. After reading the editorial “What happens when a white officer shoots a black man, but no one releases a video”, it leaves me with disappointment and hurt Although, the world has always had good and evil, as a parent, it makes me concerned for the future of my children.
People tend to think that they are the only people in the world with the right opinions and they know what will be best for this world. This isn’t always the case. Plus it ends up just causing more problems and violence in the long run. Some may think just because there is diversity there will always be
regardless of the race, religious or economic divides in society. One of the problems is the social
