Thanks for sharing your thought during this week discussion. One thing I learned this week from this week assignment was the role and duties on the National League for Nursing (NLN). From this week discussion assignment I was able to discover that the NLN is dedicated to excellence in nursing. According to the Nick, Sharts-Hopko and Leners (2013). NLN is the premier organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education (Nick, Sharts-Hopko & Leners, 2013).

Nursing is an emotionally fulfilling and rewarding carrier . The campaign for Nursing Future says nursing is fastest-growing occupation in US.In its Report on the future of Nursing, the institute of medicine states “an increase in the percentage of the nurses with a BSN is imperative as the scope of what the public need from nurses grows, expectation surrounding quality heighten, and the settings
Thanks for the heads-up. Also, providing the consideration for the discussion board assignment. Please continue to keep me in prayer. At times, the burden is too much for me to handle. I am trying my hardest to accomplish the MATH-115. I ask God for strength each and every day. At times, it appears that my family members don't care about me being in college. I am all along trying to defeat this battle. When it is all over and done, I know I will have the glory. Amen!
The National League for Nursing was first started by a group of brave women, whom shared a passion of commitment on the nursing education values and perspectives. These women paved the way for all the professional nursing organization in the United States. In 1952, the NLN historic role was to develop a set of guidelines that outline the Accreditation criteria for all nursing services and nursing education. The founding group works diligently in promoting and being reliable advocates for the importance of health care and nursing education. The NLN governed the NLN Accrediting Commission, which is responsible for the accreditation of nursing education schools and programs.
Nurses join professional nursing organizations to “have a voice in issues that affect nursing practice and to stay current in their field of specialty” (UC Davis Medical Center, 2016).
The Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) provides information to the public about the services of the Board of Nursing (OBN, n.d.). The purpose of the OBN is to “safeguard the public’s health by ensuring that licensed nurses are qualified and competent to practice” (OBN, n.d.). The public has access to the OBN to inquire on current licensed nurses, Nurse Practice Act, and guidelines about nursing care (OBN, n.d.). The American Nurses Association (ANA) is the “only full-service professional organization” that represents registered nurses’ interest through associations and partners (ANA, 2014). Their mission is “nurses advancing our profession to improve health for all” (ANA, 2014). They promote nursing practice by setting high standards, promoting nurses’ rights, leading a realistic outlook of nursing, and “by lobbying the Congress and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public” (ANA, 2014). The National League for Nursing (NLN) is an organization for any nursing-related faculty offering “faculty development programs, networking opportunities, testing and assessment, nursing research grants, and public policy” (NLN, 2013). Their mission is to “promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the nations health” (NLN, 2013).
This addressed ways in which the nurses could increase their participatory involvement in their professional community. One of the most telling facets of the meeting was the in depth discussion of key issues and challenges within the nurse force. Many issues broached during the meeting included ethical, emotional, relational and corporate concerns. The discourse on these pervasive problems served a few functional purposes. Firstly, they explained issues commonly faced by nurses, allowing people to find a sense of common ground. The communal dilemma among all nurses suddenly became evident, in spite of their differences in education or background. This served to advance and evolve the nurses as a whole, making them more empathetic contributors to the healthcare field.
My philosophy of nursing education grows out of my philosophy of nursing. Much has been said related to healthcare reform, healthcare globalization, and healthcare delivery. A resounding theme in all of these discussions is the need for nurses to take a position of leadership in the healthcare industry (Institute of Medicine, 2010). I believe nurses, as leaders, are uniquely qualified to bridge the gap between the healthcare industry and a rapidly changing global environment. Nurses are educationally in tune to the proposed changes that are being made, yet sensitive enough to address the needs of individuals affected by these changes. In a global community, nurses advocate for the individual.
The National League for Nursing organization is “The Voice of Nursing Education”. Their mission is to promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the health of our nation and the global community (National League for Nursing). The National League for Nursing has been the premier organization for leaders in nursing education, nursing schools and nurse faculty, for more than 100 years. As of today, the organization consists of 40,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members with occupations from licensed practical nurses to doctorate education.
“Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy and in patient and health systems management, and education are also key nursing roles” (ICN 2010)
I believe that nursing is both and art and a science consisting of psychosocial and biological sciences that work together to continually improve the health care field. I believe that with the knowledge and clinical experience from the TVCC ADN program I will be able to provide the best care possible to the people in the community. As a nurse it is important to carry the attributes of being caring, compassionate, understanding, non judgmental, realistic, open-minded, honest, ethical, and moral. I also feel that it is important to maintain sensitivity to all cultures when providing care.
Nursing as a discipline has set forward an explicit desire to serve the public and it is the service and commitment to the individual and overall wellbeing of our society that drives and directs the study and practice of nurses, educators and nurse scholars (Smith & Parker, 2010).
Nursing is an esteemed profession that has developed over many years. This paper will explore the factors that influenced the development of the nursing profession, the roles and responsibilities of nurses, the many different career opportunities available to nurses as well as the origins of my passion to pursue nursing.
American Nurses Association defines nursing as “the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and population”( Potter,P.,& Perry, A. 2005,1-5). Thus making nursing dynamic and ever changing. However, when nursing
The panel discussion assignment was an overall positive experience as it helped me develop a number of teamwork and communication skills. Initially I was feeling very unsure and anxious about having to speak in front of the tutorial class because I don’t feel as if I am the most confident speaker and I also had a few reservations about the “team work” component as it was the first time I had worked with this group and had no idea what to expect, however overall it was a positive experience as I quickly found out that I was working with a group of people who were equally as determined and motivated as complete this assignment to the best of their ability. I believe we worked well as a group as we set out clear due dates for when our information
