In today’s world, many customers are familiar with same day services, and because of this many customers demand same day delivery. Many times customers become frustrated because they pay delivery charges, but their orders do not leave the warehouse until several days later. Being that, as Discount Delivery we have decided to start our own local delivery business in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. With this new service there will be no more waiting for days to receive items brought at department stores. Discount Delivery will be stationed at several department stores in the DFW area such as, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and IKEA. Our goal will be to assist customers who shop at theses department stores with their delivery needs at an affordable cost. We

This assignment will be discussing about when I was working as a logistics manager for Morrisons and we will be talking about how Morrisons distribution system works and evaluating the system. Morrisons' market share as of August 2013 was 11.3%, making it the smallest of the "Big Four" supermarkets, behind Tesco (30.1%), Sainsbury's (16.6%) and Asda (16.4%), but ahead of the fifth place Co-operative Group, which had a share of 4.4% - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morrisons. There is currently 569 stores across the UK and this means that the distribution system must be effective and be able to deliver goods to the Morrisons stores in time.
Do you need new tires? Discount Tire is the place for you. The Discount Tire CO was founded in Ant Arbor, Michigan 1960 by Bruce T. Halle and is known for one of the largest wheel retailers today. Most people who come in are concerned with the current condition of the tires on their vehicle. Discount Tire Company provides services like air checks, tire repairs and new tire and wheel purchases. They are a company that has a target customer base of anyone that owns a vehicle and are often very helpful to those people that simply cannot afford tires. They sell tires for any vehicle you could imagine from the tiny two seat smart vehicle to a two hundred thousand dollar Ferrari and anything in between. They are one of the only companies that do not sell their own brand of tire however; they do have a sponsorship brand with the Pathfinder Tire Company.
Costco performs a number of tasks in each primary value chain activity. For inbound logistics Costco performs tasks relating to quality control, receiving shipments of products, controlling raw materials, and schedule supply shipments. An example is Costco choosing what products to receive and sell to their customers. Costco wants to sell quality goods, so it is inbound logistics jobs to choose what products to sell. They also help schedule when Costco stores should receive more shipments of products, and watching over the raw materials that go into the business.
Our biggest competitor is Drizly, they do same day delivery, similar to our product, but the services deviate from one another in a few ways. Drizly is only located in larger cities such as, Los Angeles, while our service would be in college towns, provided that we have drivers to do the deliveries. Drizly’s locations cause their delivery times to be upwards of an hour, compared to Alco-Haul’s delivery time of 20-40 minutes depending on your location. Our service has low product prices because we buy the alcohol directly from the store and don’t mark the price up. We do charge a delivery charge starting at $3.50 and going up depending on how many miles the driver has to go in order to deliver the product. Like Drizly the consumer can place orders in advance if they know they won’t have time to purchase the alcohol themselves and know they have a party coming up. Say you have a party on Saturday, you can preorder the beer or wine that you want and choose a delivery time that is convenient for you. Competitors similar to the service we provide charge high minimum order requirements, around $20 to $30 dollars, plus the delivery charge. When a driver arrives, they will check the
Centralize warehousing in Waltham (option 1) to meet demand in Southeast and Northeast regions using delivery service of Winged Fleet as their rates are cheaper for these two regions (Exhibit 2).
As higher demands continued to be placed on GMM’s production and distribution operations, its transportation network lacked collaboration. In effect, each operation was making individual logistics decisions, creating costly redundancies and inefficiencies throughout the supply chain. However, On-time delivery is critical in their business, and they consistently meet their customers' requirements. With cost, service and punctuality always at the forefront, consolidates shipments, manages carriers, and optimizes air, sea and ground routes. (Penske, 2010)

To help Target overcome their problem of showrooming, I would begin by planning two different approaches to attract customers.Having two approaches should have more potential to attract customers both to their stores and online. Now we will look at the two plans I would suggest to Targets’ management.
If you're into shipping and your business uses shipping as much as my business here are the best shipping companies FedEx that's it!!! UPS and USPS are the shittiest and worst companies ever in the entire world fuck them don't use them no matter what they will lose your shit and their damn good at it
I do not understand why my scores are higher under selling because I tend to be much more customer-focused than fretting about making the sale. I have been in sales a couple of times in my career and done quite well. No matter what you are selling you must focus on customer to except and understand needs and trends otherwise Fred’s Tire Store would still be trying to sell the first stone wheel.
Not being able to guarantee a delivery time/date can put a company’s reputation in jeopardy as they may not meet customer expectations.
Constraints: In order to meet the goals of shipping items to arrive the same day, Target must receive the order by 12:00 noon and the item will be delivered by 9:00 pm. Packages delivered via “In House” logistics, Target will need a delivery trucks, drivers and order puller/processors. For a 3rd party

Just-in-time delivery needs good collaboration with vendors of distribution services and of products. The distributor needs a continuity of demand and the chance to define routes, loads and schedules well ahead. By working toward longer-terms, higher-volume procurements with vendors, prices can be cut due to larger transport volume over a long period of time. Just-in-time delivery will cut down the operating costs if the business is substantial for the distribution partner. Just in time delivery needs more frequent deliveries from vendors however it does not voluntarily imply higher transportation costs.
