In the text “Dirk the Protector” by Gary Paulsen the theme is no matter what, one way or another you will find a best friend. For example, in the text it states, “He followed me. Not close about eight feet back.” This shows that since Gary already gave Dirk his hamburger, Dirk thought that Gary would have more food and that maybe if he follows a human life wouldn’t be as rough. Another example from the text is, “I thought I’d probably never see him again but when I came out of school he was there.” Dirk is actually pleased by Gary and Dirk doesn’t want to leave Gary by himself just in case Happy and his gang try to beat him up again. Finally, in the text it states, “I woke up and found Dirk under the basement stairs.” This demonstrates that

Perry Wallace is the main character in my book “Strong Inside” by Andrew Maraniss. He is a African-American male in a very racist time. He is a “complex individual” because of his life in a racist time that shaped him.
Davon Coleman is an interesting player. He has the physical tools to play in the NFL. It’s just he never would take things serious. These last few weeks he’s been having great practices as well as playing good in the game. However he does need to work on developing more pass rushing moves instead of always trying to bull rush an offensive lineman. Coleman will be fighting with Ken Bishop for a roster spot. Jack Crawford maybe listed as a defensive lineman but he really now is a defensive tackle in the three technique behind Tyrone Crawford. Just like last year when the Cowboys moved Tyrone from defensive end to defense tackle position he found his comfort level and started to go beast mode. Jack is doing the same exact thing the coaching staff

The fight for justice is not always unequivocal or favorable, sometimes justice is given by means that do not seem fair at all. William Styron says in a novel that life “is a search for justice.” It is blatant that throughout Khaled Hosseini's novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, female characters are continuously battered with injustices. Hosseini hones into the oppression of women and the fight for women empowerment through the life of one of his main characters, Mariam. Her journey is shown throughout the novel where she struggles to search for and understand justice.

Walter Dean Myers was trying to portray that no matter how much you think that your life sucks, there will always be someone there for you if you’re there for them. This is a very important message that the author portrayed because everybody has times in his/her life where they feel loneley. It is a terrible feeling to feel that nobody will help you, but if you start to put others before yourself you will come to realize that you will be surrounded by others. Putting others before yourself is one of the best signs of a true relationship that people seem to overlook, but is still very important. If everyone would put others before themselves once and awhile, the world would be a happier
The novel The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Juno Diaz is told from the perspective of many characters, exploring each character's individual struggles. These individual struggles represent the prevalent social and cultural problems at the time. In fact, many of the characters in the book encountered similar obstacles and difficulties throughout the story, creating a clear pattern. Diaz utilizes these characters to convey to the reader what life was like for some of the Dominican migrants and their children. Diaz illustrates how it was difficult for people to escape the accepted gender roles that are constantly being forced upon them. He also conveys how race and social class inevitably played a significant role in determining a person's

In the book, Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Patillo Beals, all of the character present were true warriors at heart. Between the students that attended Central High School and the family members that had to go through the struggle of being hated in their own town, they did not give up. I believe that I am most like Melba because I never give up, I have had similar events happen to me in my own school, and I have a family that is just as supportive as hers.
Friendship opens our minds to different views and perspectives and change our perceptions. It has the power to change people’s views on life in a positive way. The Roosevelt name itself, which immediately associated FDR with his remote cousin, President Theodore Roosevelt. This allowed Franklin to be more recognized and have a better influence being related to one of the greatest presidents in U.S history. A father and son bond is a unbreakable bond, it may be sour at times but it will always be there. Like in the novel Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Henry has a father who is trying to give Henry the best that he can. Even though Henry doesn't think it is. I know if my father stopped me from seeing the girl I love, I would be very angry. Although I would be angry, I also would under stand why he would do that.
