There are a lot of of differences when it comes to comparing two nations together, there is a lot to think about. For example what could we compare? You could compare money intake for each household, you could just compare two nations just using something as simple as culture or maybe race. When comparing Germany to America you still have a lot of differences like the fact that in Germany you are legally allowed to drink and gamble anywhere in Germany at the age of 18. Germany has very small families, most families in Germany only have one kid, a big family would be considered at around maybe 2-3 people. In America it is very known for a couple to know each other for awhile and then if they feel like everything is going okay they have a chance to move on to an engagement. In America an engagement is known to last for 6 months to a year for time to get everything worked out, in Germany an engagement is about 2 years so they can make sure this is the person they want to be with. In Germany both of the parents usually work full time jobs which leaves very little for parents to spend with kids. In Germany a lot of the middle class or working class kids attend a tutoring center where they can get all the help they need for their school homework. In Germany a marriage is a very equal thing since both of the people in the rxpected to stay in the hospital up to one year for recovering and getting ready to take care of their baby the rest of their life. elationship are very hard
Have you ever wondered how High Schools are in other countries? Despite sharing some minor similarities, the differences between Nicaraguan and American High School education are clear. Such as, note-taking methods, grading system, classroom environment.
The United States’ health care system in comparison to the Germany health system seems to be fairly similar in many ways; however there are some major differences. One seems to be divided into public and private sectors and funded mostly by the public; Germany's, is considered better at times which tends to run differently. In the two healthcare systems, both systems are taking the time to spend quite a bit of the governmental revenue on health but still have two of the lower life expectancies. The United States faces severe challenges in access to health care, cost effectiveness, equity, and to a lesser extent in coordinating care. Meanwhile, the German system is confronted by problems in coordinating care and controlling costs.
According to the pictures and information displayed in the book What The World Eats, American and German diets look similar, however, there are also some differences. Both American and German diets are high in calories and are meat concentrated. An average American diet contains 3774 calories and an average German diet consists of 3496 calories. While an average American adult eats about 275 pounds of meat per year, an average German consumes 67 pounds of sausage. Both diets are also very expensive. Americans spend on average $341.98 and Germans spend $500.07 on food each week. The German diet is probably more expensive because taxes are higher in Germany and Germans eat less cheap fast food compared to Americans. The German diet also includes
In America we are known for throwing lavish ceremonies and expensive parties to celebrate the union between two people. I’ve attended quite a few weddings and participated in one during my lifetime thus far. Most weddings in the American culture follow the same itinerary.
The culture of a country has played a role in if, when, and why people were getting married throughout history, but is it still as influential in today’s world? A comparison of Russia and Germany shows that this may not always be the case. Russia is heavily promoting “traditional family values”, pushing back against cultural change of marriage (Petrova, 2015b). Germany, on the other hand, is embracing and supporting the cultural change. The two countries, while similar in their marital practices in the past, are vastly different in what they deem socially acceptable today. Most notably, Russia and Germany differ in their societal views and expectations of marriage, age of marriage, and a couples pre and post marital living arrangements. Although these are differences today, perceptions are subject to change and these practices may be altered in the future; just look at America.
The U.S's strategic decision to amalgamate its German zone with Britain and France into one unit while introducing a new German currency, and initiatives such as the Marshall Plan and Truman Doctrine to contain communism contributed to their success against the Soviets. After World War II, Germany was separated into four zones of military occupation run by the U.S, Britain, France, and the U.S.S.R. During the division, the U.S and U.S.S.R competed for territorial and political dominance in Germany because the country was a pinnacle for economic and social change at the time. The U.S, France, and Britain believed a powerful Germany could enable democracy to prosper after the years of Nazi dictatorship as well as Europe's economy. Thus, to strengthen Germany to encourage the prosperity of democracy, Britain, France, and the U.S combined their respective German zones into one unit while introducing a new currency- the Deutschmark- while failing to inform the U.S.S.R. As West Germany became a stable western democracy, East Germany continued to grow as a communist
In the last few centuries, Europe has experienced major changes both in its population makeup and number. Be that as it may, in the last two decades, it has been faced with an unprecedented decline in population growth while struggling with the issue of an aging population. Indeed, from Helsinki to Lisbon, the birth rate has fallen dramatically in recent years. It has fallen so much so that most countries have put together some form of policies to help mitigate what is perceived as a serious demographic crisis in european capitals. Those policies have yielded different results. While some countries like France are now experiencing a slow growth rate as a result of those policies, others in the likes of Germany are forced to still deal with an ever declining population. In this paper, I will be analyzing, comparing, and contrasting the policies in both countries.
The first and most important cultural difference between Americans and Germans is the issue of self-control and regulations. Many Americans are impulsive and make decisions without much thought behind their actions. Germans, as opposed to Americans, are much less susceptible for impulsive actions because in Germany there are significantly more rules and social norms for Germans to follow which are part of Ordnung. The reason why Germans have more social norms and rules than Americans is to prevent misunderstandings that may be taken as disrespect. Germans “feel comfortable with these kinds of rules, which give them a feeling of security as well as a strong sense of right and wrong” (Nees 39). The amount of rules and regulations that are in Germany might make an American
In the United States of North America ethnic groups are easily found everywhere. As a result, the American culture is a combination of many other cultures such as Irish, Latin, African, British, etc. However, one of the most significant of these is the German culture. German influence over this country is so strong that it goes through science, to architecture, to music, to sports and entertainment.
A tradition found in American culture that is not found in other cultures is being engaged before you get married. While in America an engagement is a sign of an impending marriage, in other cultures, such as that of South Korea, the sign of an impending marriage is when the significant others are introduced to the family.
Marriage is very common among societies. Depending on the culture, the definition and the type of marriages differ. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, “Marriage is a physical, legal and moral union between man and woman in complete community life for the establishment of a family(2013).”A broader definition of marriage is that it’s ritually and socially recognized union between people who establishes rights and obligations between them.
The German government is definitely more democratic than the US government. Instead of a winner-take-all election, the German elections are based on proportionality. In the US, voters only get to choose between two candidates and two parties; whereas, in Germany there are several candidates and several different parties from which to choose. The German system allows the Bundestag to be filled accordingly to the percentages each party receives--the voters’ votes actually count instead of half the country being excluded. People have an adequate representation of their views and values when it seems that Americans have to settle for a candidate or party. In fact, Germany usually gets approximately 80% of its people to vote; however, the US gets
I have lived in both areas, and can really tell the difference between both places. First is that, Germany, they say it’s like a third world country because there more advanced then the United States. Germany is known for their advance education. When I lived in Neu Wulmstorf Germany, I attended the highest school which is known to be like Harvard in the United States. I skipped around grades because I was bilingual and I was more advance then other students.
Germany, a western country is well-known for beer, sausage and innovative technology. China, an eastern country is well-known for delicious food, martial arts and low priced products. Everyone knows they are completely different. However, can you raise some concrete examples showing their difference? And is it true that both do not have a single similarity at all? Though, they have certain similar aspects if you look closer.
GDP per capita is also an important indicator of economic health. GDP per capita takes the total output of a country and divides it by the number of people in a countries population; this indicated the buying power of individuals. GDP per capita in Germany as reported for 2014 was slightly over 47,000 USD (“Countries with the largest”, n.d.). Looking at GDP per capita when compared to other countries in the Eurozone Germany is not fairing so well. Luxembourg leads the world wide GDP per capita and that of the Eurozone with a high rate of 116,750 USD (“Countries with the largest”, n.d.). Worldwide Germany ranks 16th in the Eurozone, Germany was beat out by Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands in GDP per capita (“Countries with the largest”, n.d.). While the GDP per capita rate in Germany is stronger than many other countries it is not competitive with other countries which have economies comparable in size to Germany nor economies centrally located in the Eurozone.
