It just seems weird having people look at you all the time and watch your every move. Or people watching you at every second of the day about your daily life. The Giver and The Truman show are similar and different because of biblical allusions. One reason they are alike is they both have god like people in them. In The Giver it is the Giver, on The Truman show is it Christof. A way they are different is in The Giver the apple symbols Adam and Eve. In The Truman show, Truman equals Moses. The last thing how they are alike is they have something to do with Jonah and the whale. In The Giver Jonas sounds like Jonah, in The Truman show there is a storm just like the story.

One reason is they both have cameras everywhere to watch everyone and to see what they are doing every second of the day. Another reason is in the Giver the community is isolated and surrounded by nothing except the river and elsewhere. The final reason is in the Truman show it sometimes rains in one spot, but only does it to certain types of
With any comparison between a play and its movie counterpart there are bound to be major differences and key similarities between
Another difference in the movie from the play is the obvious different points of view. The play is told from Estela’s point of view and the movie is shown through Ana’s point of view. The play shows more of Estela’s struggles in the factory, not being able to pay for the machines, paying rent and most being an undocumented worker in the
The third main difference between The Giver book and the movie was the Chief Elder's role. In the Giver book, the Chief Elder was not much of an important character, "The initial speech at the Ceremony of Twelve was made by the Chief Elder, the leader of the community who was elected every ten years," (pg. 51 - Lois Lowry). However, the Chief Elder played an important role in the Giver movie. In the book, the Chief spoke in a few chapters during Ceremonies and that was all. The Giver movie's Chief Elder always watched Jonas closely. She started becoming suspicious of Jonas, and so she would warn Jonas' mother and The Giver. She then found out about Jonas' plan to escape. When she did, she ordered Asher to "lose him" (The Giver movie). That meant she wanted Asher to kill Jonas.
Another difference is the presence of three judges in the movie, whereas in the play there were only two, both of whom where made out to be "bad guys." One additional judge is added in the movie possibly to show that it was not the entirety of the Church that was unjust, cruel, and nearly ignorant. I
In The Giver their life is different from our life. The book and the movie are similar because the community takes the morning medication for their stirrings. The community also don't see color. ‘The Truman Show’, directed by Peter Weir and ‘Animal Farm’, written by George Orwell both explore the ideas of the good life, how the main characters of both texts have a lack of the good life. Control, the animals and Truman being controlled without them knowing it. Freedom, and how the main characters do not have a great deal of it. These views have been displayed in both The Truman Show and Animal Farm. These ideas are presented through the characters and events throughout both texts, they are used in different ways, yet mainly turn out to be not very good things.

The Giver, a book by Lois Lowry, and The Giver, the movie version, have more differences than similarities. The movie changes some details to fit into the new themes and expectations of the film. There are some similarities between the two, such as the general idea of a community based off of Sameness and order. However, there are many differences in things like the themes, the plot, the symbols, and the characters that just cannot be neglected. The movie is more different to the book than similar because it removes important details, such as Jonas’ pale eyes, limiting exposure to themes like government surveillance, and changing the ending of the movie to being more literal.
The Giver is both best-selling book by Lois Lowery and a major motion picture. They are both centered on the same storyline and character but also have some major differences. “The movie (and the book) takes place in the confines of “the community,” something that started after “the ruin,” when all memories were erased and everyone became equal.” (Krule, 2014). The book and the movie and the book are very different in many ways such as the plot, characters and concepts. The book and movie are more different than they are similar, although there are a few similarities.
The Giver is an amazing novel and so is the movie. There are some differences between the book and the movie such as a border around the community, Asher and Fiona got different jobs, and The Giver passed memories to Jonas in a different way. There are more differences, but these three are the main differences between the book and the movie.
