Between The Devil and Tom Walker and The Devil and Daniel Webster have some similarities and differences. Between both stories, the main character has sold their souls to the Devil. Between one story had a good ending and the other had a bad ending. It's a story based on when somebody makes an agreement with the devil in trust of picking up what they desire. They both sold their soul for profit, for happiness, and for a better life. With The Devil and Tom Walker, Tom sold his soul for great wealth, “You shall extort bonds, foreclose mortgages, drive the merchants to bankruptcy—"You are the usurer for my money!” said blacklegs with delight." The devil is asking Tom to get money from the town to lend money at high prices. While in the Devil and Tom Walker sold his soul for wealth, in The Devil and Daniel Webster sold his soul for a different reason that will make him happy. With the devil and Daniel Webster had sold his soul for seven years of good luck, " Stone then perceived to ask the devil for his desire, the devil gave a smile and said ok in seven years I will come back for my payment." The devil gave Stone for seven years of good luck since he hasn't been getting any good luck. With the Devil and Tom Walker, the ending wasn't so good, "The devil take me, said Tom Walker," "the black man whisked him like a child into the saddle, gave the horse the lash, and away he galloped, with Tom on his back, in the midst of the thunderstorm." While the ending of The Devil and Tom Walker isn't so good, in The Devil Daniel Webster has a different ending.
