Power is a strong thing to have, yet some argue wether it’s a positive or a negative thing to hold. Power is by far a negative thing to have. Take Hitler and King Creon for example. THey both have power, but it’s negative towards the people it’s over. Hitler was a German leader in World War ll. He had power over every single German in that country, but it was negative. Hitler brainwashed the people in Germany to believe that the Jewish belivers were bad as well as gypsys and homosexuals. He killed them or took them to consentration camps and forced hard labor on them because to him that was morally correct. The King Creon was a leader that used power to single out one law for one person. He wanted to make it to where a family couldn’t bury
Taking control of people, making yourself benefit, forcing yourself to the top, when power gets into the wrong hands none is safe. The more power someone gets, the more likely it will corrupt them. Power is mainly used in selfish and negative ways.
People who have power can have negative effects on others because they can be intolerant and dangerous. Power may seem like a good thing, but I can promise you it’s not.
After World War I, Adolf Hitler was one of the dictators that arose; which then gained power in Germany in its Great Depression. Hitler rose to power using techniques such as propaganda, censorship, charisma and terror, but that was not all he did. Hitler started his own fascist party in Germany and called it the Nazi Party. Later, Hitler developed anti-semitism, or prejudice against Jews and dehumanized them. He viewed Jews as a separate race not a religion. This caused many changes particularly to the Jews. During World War I the Nazi’s treatment of the Jews caused political, economic, and social changes.
From the drama play ‘Antigone’ the Guard who was chosen to tell king Creon about the body that was buried contrasted with Creon in the way he sees things like morals and what is right or just.
King Creon takes advantage of his power in the play Antigone. The King tells his people that no one is to bury Polyneices (his soon to be son in law) “Polyneices, I say, is to have no burial” (Scene I, Line 43). This shows that he is a man who let the power get to his head and uses it for no good which causes his daughter to go against him and she buried her fiance. This shows that even the King’s
With power comes great responsibility. When people have too much power they don’t always know what to do with it. Power has a negative effect because those with too much become greedy with it.
There was a time in the middle of football season where my coach and I were arguing of what my coverage zone was in a passing play, I was so sure that I was correct that I argued with him about it in front of the whole team. He ended up telling me to do it his way for a play, I ended up getting an interception as soon as I listened to him. Almost the exact same situation happened to Creon in a lengthy play called Antigone by Sophocles. It’s a play about how the king Creon refused to give Antigone's close brother a proper burial, just for breaking the law. Now Antigone has gone on a quest to bury her brother.n the end Creon needed to learn that sometimes you have to take the advice of others and see their side of the story instead of thinking
Adolf Hitler was one of the 20th century's most powerful dictators. He was responsible for World War II and the death of millions. Hitler saw a nation in despair and used this as an opportunity to gain political power. He saw a nation of unemployed and hungry citizens and promised them economic prosperity in return for absolute power. Someone once said "The Nazis rose to power on the empty stomachs of the German people".
Adolf Hitler was an Austrian born, twentieth century Fascist German dictator with a dream of creating a dominant race of pure “Aryans” who he hoped would go on to rule the third German Empire. Hitler is well known for his involvement and leadership in the Nazi party where he authorized and supported the the killing over over six million jews. Adolf Hitler also invaded Poland in 1939 which started World War II, this was was concluded when Hitler committed suicide upon the realization that he would in fact lose the war to Stalin.
He ruled Germany from 1933-1945 as a dictator. Hitler particularly prosecuted Jews. He had them removed and killed if they were in countries that he was in control of. He set up camps where about 4 million Jews were murdered. Altogether Hitler’s forces killed about 6 million Jews, and also % million normal people who seemed to be racially different or politically dangerous. In 1919 is when Hitler started to gain political power, the year after World War I
Creon states “am I to rule this land for others, or myself”? (Sophocles, 441 BC, line 823). This statement shows how Creon has little consideration for others around him. He does not care that
Adolf was the leader of Nazi Germany, and was a very cruel and savage man. “Adolf Hitler was the dictator or absolute ruler of Germany from 1934 to 1945 and leader of the nationalist socialist German workers’ party. He took advantage of Germany’s economic hardships and the bitterness of its citizens after World War I to attract followers, eventually taking complete control of the country.” (“Hitler”) Hitler was able to take control by using violence and brainwashing his people into following him. He was able to blame all the madness on others and made his people believe
Creon is a man of principles, who is devoted to the state as well as upholding the law in a dominant and control freak type of manner. Creon uses his first speech as a way to explain his ideas, expectations of the people, and his first law regarding the body of Polynices. Knowing the people of Thebes will disregard his word, he explains to the populace that, “Whoever places a friend above the good of his own country, he is nothing”(67). He brings up the threat of death due to the uncertainty of future rebellion and clearly states, “Our country is our safety”(68). This type of indoctrination starts from the head and trickles its way down to the people regardless of whether they want it or not. Bribery is another one of his major concerns. Knowing that corruption leads to dysfunction, rebellion, and torment, Creon poetically makes another law regarding, “Money! Nothing worse in our lives, so current, rampant, so corrupting… No limit, you make them adept at every kind of outrage, every godless crime-money!...
Once in power Hitler quickly established himself as dictator. He started hauling off thousands of anti-Nazis to concentration camps. The economy, the media, and all cultural activities were brought under Nazi authority by making an individual’s livelihood dependent on their political loyalty. His desire was to establish German rule over Europe and other parts of the world. He realized that this would lead to a European conflict and so he started his plan to conquer Europe by invading Poland in 1939 and started World War ll . The war started off good for the Germans but once the United States entered the war they started to lose. As time passed, defeat became more certain, but Hitler refused to give up. Finally with all of Germany overrun by Allied
The word power sounds like it can be negative or positive depending on who is giving the power or who holds the power role. Most people will agree that Hitler had lots of power, he didn't handle his power well but we can all agree he had power
