Even though Hank was pushed/encourages to become a country music performer, he enjoys what he does. In result, he is one of the most well known “rock” country singer. He has several top hits and many awards. Some awards include 4 emmys, 10 #1 singles, 13 #1 albums, 20 gold albums, and 6 platinums. Also, he won a grammy award for best album/track “There’s a tear in My Beer”, which was released in 2002.

Traditionally, Country music has usually been associated as a white mans genre of music. Looking back over the history of this type of music one can attest to the fact that only a few artists fall outside this stereotype. For instance, you have musicians such as DeFord Bailey and Darius Rucker who have contributed so much to the genre through their works. However, as great as they are, there is one artist who has truly paved the way for African Americans in Country music and that is none other than Charlie Pride.

Brantley Gilbert is a popular country music star. Mr. Gilbert has written/recorded seventy-one songs, and a total of 3 albums and received several awards. He is known for speaking his mind and being able to defend his family and friends. Brantley Gilbert is a successful artist, with a complicated past.

Waylon Jennings left a big impact on the country music industry. His journey to fame and meeting Buddy Holly started everything. Buddy Holly gave Waylon Jennings his first hit, resulting in Jennings become an unforgettable country music artist. The Highwaymen was a country supergroup consisting of 4 of the biggest country music artist of that decade. The Highwaymen produced many hits that Waylon was a part of, making his fame rise even more. Waylon Jennings ending of career happened too soon. Waylon played until he didn’t have the health to play anymore.

Christian Country music can be defined with two variables the word “Christian” and the word “Country”. The word Christian in its raw state and referring to Jesus Christ is to be Christ-like to be like Him. The word country cannot be defined so easily because it can mean, a country as in a place on a whole different place on a map. For this purpose, it will lean towards the south region in the United States. When combining the two styles of music Christian Country is usually sung in the slang language of the country, clear in its message, and often tells a story. Some Christian music listeners do not like this style of music and some love this style of music. Artist like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Jimmie Rodgers, George Jones, Willie Nelson and many more were are crucial parts in shaping the genre of country music. Each one of these artists had their own spin on country music making it diverse but managed to keep country music as country music. Their influence can be felt today. Country music was born from artists that were able to write anything from heartache to happiness. Patsy Cline was also an important musician who was named the most influential email country artist of all time. Elvis Presley was one of the most iconic artists who mixed gospel, R&B, and country tunes and produced legendary music that will be around

(imdb.com, 2016).” Keith Urban wrote 49-50 songs without any help from his backup band. He was once in a band called The Ranch but later on went solo. Keith Urban is an inspirational person because of the ups and downs in his life, his interest in music and his multiple awards.

I almost always listen to country music. My favorite artists/bands are Brad Paisley and Dan and Shay. I enjoy listening to their music because I can relate to their songs. Two of my favorite Brad Paisley songs would be “Perfect Storm”, or “She’s Everything”. Dan and Shay sing two songs that I really enjoy listening to “Stop, Drop, and Roll” and “What You Do to Me”. Brad Paisley’s “Perfect Storm” talks about finding that perfect girl, and his song “She’s Everything” is about that girl that means everything to you. “Stop, Drop, and Roll” by Dan and Shay is about driving around in a 65 mustang, going fast, having fun, and laying rubber. Dan and Shay’s song “What You Do to Me” talks of having found that perfect girl. I can relate to every one of

Regardless of George Strait's incredible history of recognition and awards, he has always been one of my favorite country music artists. I am a true, long time fan of traditional country and I love his style in particular because of the dash of honky tonk and swing music that comes with it. My husband has roots in Texas and we spend quite a bit of time there on vacation. We enjoy the cowboy lifestyle and have always spent our free time enjoying country music, country two step dancing at the dance hall, being outside horseback riding, attending the rodeo, visiting the county fair and enjoying the laid back country life. One day we plan on moving back to Texas permanently and in the meantime, George's music makes us feel at home wherever we are.
