I still remember the day I performed "Bharatanatyam" for the first time; all eyes were set on me. My dance teacher was cheering me up from backstage curtains, and there was a proud look in my parents' eyes as, they took the audience seats. On the other hand, I was shaking with fear seeing countless unknown people in the audience. The stage floor was not quite like my bathroom floor. But the moment I started dancing, there was a rush of confidence, and I became what I wanted to be that day: the best dancer on stage. I always feared people’s opinions, which made me doubt myself and my talents. Dancing has helped me get rid of that fear, and made me aware of my uniqueness. At the age of 6, I started learning "Bharatanatyam", because of my mother, who was a "Bharatanatyam" dancer herself. Her dance always brought peace to my mind. As a young girl, I used to try to dance next to her, moving my legs with hers. But, my sloppy moves always left her in fits of laughter. I will always remember seeing her dance, while wearing embroidered dresses, and shimmering jewelry. I will always remember the expressions, and postures she made with every rhythm of the music. She was the one who pushed me to learn "Bharatanatyam", which is a culturally rich Indian classical dance form.
I always saw a teacher in my mother, as I started learning "Bharatanatyam" I was very disappointed, because of the authoritarian environment. My dance teacher being the dictator. My initial days of learning
My topic for the paper is to describe the difference in pay between a CEO and a lower level employee. This a major issue in the financial field because people have mixed opinions on whether CEO are overpaid. My argument is CEO are overpaid, considering how financial performance is not controlled by the CEO it is rather controlled by the company as a whole.
Dance is not only a form of art or a physical activity, but a means of expressing yourself. Through dance, I gained confidence, courage, patience, and other valuable qualities, now all fused into my identity. I have danced for the past 10 years, consistently training every week, persevering through the

The dancers in the earliest ballets were highly skilled professionals capable of feats of strength and agility.
I learned a lot of things that lead me to who I am today, and yes maybe I am not the best girl in the world, maybe I am not the kindest, or the prettiest, but I am who I am and if people are not okay with that then I don’t need those people in my life. People who don’t dance just see dance as it is. Steps, and more steps. Us, dancers see the movements of the dance and go deeper into their story. To us, each little movement we make means something and as the audience is looking at us and seeing our pain and or happiness, they see the story we are telling behind the movements and the music. I can say I learned how to be someone that anyone can trust, someone who is there for you no matter the situation. I learned how to overcome my worst fears, and learned that is okay to fail. What’s not okay is to be a shadow when the light is in the stage pointing at you. To shut yourself down, and not accomplish what you
Back in 2013, I had joined a Bollywood Dance team. I had always loved dancing, and the team always allowed me to show my love and appreciation towards dance and to embrace my Indian culture and heritage. I was a part of it for two years and met some incredible people. It was safe to say that I made friends on this team that would last a lifetime.
This piece was choreographed by Steven Rosa. The music that were used for this piece was a combination of three songs; the first song was by Vishal Dadlani, the second one was just a music by Shekhar Ravjiani, and the last one was a song by Daler Mehndi. This performance piece represented the Indian traditional dance. It was performed by twelve dancers including two boys and ten girls. They were divided in four teams, each team had a different color for their costume. This dance got the audience attention from the first minute they started to perform on the stage. One of the thing that grabbed the audience attention was the colorful customs that the dancers used for this specific dance. The dancers danced in-groups as well as in-lines. Also they were really organized on the stage. Appropriately, the dancers displayed synchronized and athletic movements with lots of Indian traditional dance movement. The repetitive beating of the drum in the background music helped to portray the momentum and the energy. The dancers tended to change the look of their customs while they dancing which created the feeling of watching multiple dances in one. The dancers were well communicate very well with each other and communicate very well with the audience as a group. This helped the dance to come out really interesting. The ending of the dance was so positive and appropriate finish. Overall, this dance was one of the best
Dance is a universal language, there are no words being said but you can still feel something very powerful. Dance has been around for centuries, some of the earliest known records are paintings from nine thousand years ago in India. There are also some dancing figures from an Egyptian tomb that were found which were dated back to three thousand, three hundred BC. It is said that before the invention of written language, dance was the most powerful method to tell stories throughout generations. Is this why dance is still around after so many years, because it can portray amazing stories with no words? Today, we are going to explore the many reasons why dance, in the use of musical theatre, can make the difference between an amateur show and a Broadway show.
Illegal immigration is a huge problem in America today. Over the last two centuries, the United States has seen a dramatic increase in illegal immigration. This increase has caused a host of problems ranging from a strain being put on public schools to an increase in crime to a strain being put on the US economy. In order to fix this, the States need to secure the borders and prevent more illegals from entering. If this problem is not fixed soon, there could be major consequences. The United States wants to open its arms to legal immigration; but there is no doubt that the system is in need of reform. But it is important to withhold the laws that govern this country, and protect the citizens who are here.
Dance began as a form of communication and storytelling. Thousands of years ago dancing served as a way for people to tell a story and helped distract themselves of the hardships they faced. Furthermore, dance was a form of storytelling through communication, which then turned into using storytelling through dance as entertainment. According to the History World, many dancers during the BC time danced in front of only a few people to get a story across. That later turned into hundreds of thousands of people as dance was used by many. Today, dance is also a form of entertainment and storytelling, but in a modern sense. However, today perfection and technique are stressed more than they were in the past. Yet, the passion for dance has not changed. Many dancers who share this passion also have many of the same qualities. Among a discourse community of trained dancers, one expects to find individuals who are healthy and active athletes, expect perfection from themselves through competition, and religiously attend dance performances.
Dance has always been a part of my life, whether it was from the first day my mom taught me salsa in the family room to now performing in front of huge crowds around my community. Whether its ballroom, west coast, or country, I have been able to express myself in ways that I never thought possible. Through my commitment and perseverance I strive to become a better and more knowledgeable dancer every day. I continue to learn new things and search for opportunities to widen my horizons and interact with the dance community. My passion grows with me as I grow as a dancer and I hope to be able to share that passion with others for the rest of my life.
When I was five I was introduced to Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance. Learning to move to the music and create beautiful expression of emotion and art, I fell in love with dance. It became my medium of free expression. After moving to the US, dance was a cultural root I needed to help me adjust. In a time when I was questioning my identity, dance allowed the opportunity to stay close to my heritage. Although the time spent dancing has decreased in the past couple of years, my love for dance is constant. While at Hopkins, I want to join Shakti, a student dance group, to continue creating the art I love so much and expand my horizons by learning different styles of dance.
I attended DancePlus show On Friday December 2, 2011 at 7:30pm at night. It was performed in the Victoria K. Mastrobounno Theater in New Brunswick, New Jersey. There were four different parts that I saw that day. All of the dances were very interesting and very different from each other. All of the dances had its own unique key factor that separated it from each other. I enjoyed the entire show very well. Out of all the dances I had strong reaction to “Lapa’s Lament”. I believe this specific dance stood out to me compared to the other dances from the show. This show had many different factors that stood out from other shows in the entire performance.
A series of set of movements to music, either alone or with a partner. That is the definition of dancing. Dancing is a way to express one's feeling and to get active.
