Nightmare. Heart pounding, lungs screaming, feet aching. Jesse quickened her pace as she tried to run away as fast as she could. She couldn’t believe it, everyone’s gone, everyone’s dead. *** Jesse felt as if her head was splitting into two as she opened her eyes slowly, the dark forest in front of her. She didn’t know where she was, she was slumped back against a tree, the car nowhere in sight. “A-Allerie,” she cried out, “Allerie!” She cried out again, louder this time. She felt worry well up inside her as she tried to search her surroundings to search for the brown tuft of hair she’s always been with. No luck. “Jack? Dean?” She tried shouting for her other friends who were with her but she still had no luck. “This can’t be happening,” She muttered to herself as she slowly stood up, she felt something drip from her forehead as she stood up, she touched it lightly, the moonlight her only source of light. “It shouldn’t have been like this,” She muttered again, as she wiped her bloody hands against her clothes. She squinted at her dark surroundings, looking for something-- anything that could help her. “Please, someone help me!” She walked slowly and steadily towards the thick trees of the forest, hoping that she was going the right way towards the highway. “Allerie! Where are you?!” She shouted, her mouth feeling dry. All kinds of scenarios went through her head, Allerie could be dead. She shook those thoughts away as she just continued walking. “Jack! Dean--” Jesse felt a
Now far enough away from the night club opening, Jessie could hear the distinct sound of a woman screaming. The heart wrenching sound made her stop mid step. Cold terror washed over her as she neared the corner of the alley and peered around it. There were distinct shapes - someone on the ground writhing in pain, one cowering against the wall, and three that approached her. She heard the poor woman crying out for help and saw one of the advancing shadows reach a hand up to strike her across the face. Nausea broiled in the put of her stomach and Jessie took a cautious step in. For a moment she weighed her options - trying to decide what to do. Did she fight or did she fly? Whatever - or rather whoever she thought she saw obviously wasn't real. There was no Superman. But this woman still needed help. Jessie clung to her phone as though it was a bludgeoning weapon and dialed 911. She took a step forward - about to call out to the attackers - when another shadow landed in front of her.
“CALEB DON’T YOU DARE DIE ON ME!” I scream, louder than I have ever screamed before. I can hear it echo in my brain, and I drown out the sirens, wailing even louder than before, as they are now closer. “Help! Someone PLEASE help us!”
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a blurry object fly from her hand. A sharp pain erupted from just above my stomach.” “ I felt a warm sensation flowing from my chest. It took me a few seconds to realize where I was.” “ I turned towards Russell who began chanting, “ David’s going to die. The boy ‘s going to
From somewhere in the stillness, she felt a soft breeze on her neck and heard a faint whisper in her ear “Lacey....” A trickle of fear ran down her spine as she gave a furtive glance around the room. She was alone, wasn’t she? Were there vagrants in the area? Afraid and needing to hear a human voice, she called out, “Hello? Is anyone here?”
The Sacred Realm is a theme of art that involves the concept of aspects that cannot be seen but can only be brought to existence through faith by viewing a piece of art work. This faith is usually in form of a sacred realm. It’s vital to understand that this theme cannot be viewed by the naked eye. For instance, the religious images in the visual art are employed to bring about the opinions and beliefs of the individuals who are in faith of the specific religion and this is reached by provision of abstract ideas with images thru the work of art. Therefore, the Sacred Realm theme of art explains in a virtual way the reason and purpose behind the existence of certain aspects of nature such as religion
Screams filled the air. Only then did Jessie Grant realize they were his. He had been having this dream for some time, his dad’s and mom’s death. Before they boarded a cruiser when he was seventeen, his parents were his best friends, now he had nothing.
The best part of a long, hard-working day is when you finally get to lay in your bed, close your eyes and let your imagination run free. As you sleep your mind takes you to another place far away from the real world. You begin to dream. Over the night, you may have several dreams. In the morning, you may wake up and wonder what your dreams were suppose to mean for you and your life. By analyzing your dream, it "gives a true picture of the 'subjective state'-how we really feel about ourselves-which the conscious mind cannot or will not give" (Wietz 289). In order to find the meaning of a dream, you have to pick out the most important symbols and define them. But you may be wondering what exactly is a symbol?
Trauma is something about 70% of Americans experience in their lifetime. How does it change the way our dreams structure themselves, or the intensity of images we see? Trauma can directly affect dreams, but how exactly it does affect dreams is what I’ll be exploring today. The purpose of this essay is to embark on a journey learning about trauma, dreams, and other things relating to it. Trauma can be seen to have a direct relationship dreams, and discovering that is the purpose of this paper.
There are many facts that are unknown about the mind. For centuries, philosophers and scientists have tried to understand how it works. We have learned that the mind has a number of different levels of processing. Before Sigmund Freud “nearly all the previous research and theorizing of psychologists had dealt with conscious, such as perception, memory, judgment, and learning“ (Hunt185). Freud brought forth a number of theories that dealt with “the unconscious and its crucial role in human behavior”(Hunt 185). The unconscious is a storage area for information that is not being used. It is also the home of “powerful primitive drives and forbidden wishes that constantly generated pressure on the conscious mind”(Hunt
To many people, dreams are the thoughts that occur while sleeping, having almost mystic qualities. For millennia the significance of dreams has escaped even the brightest of philosophers and intellectuals. Many people have speculated about why people dream and what meanings the dreams have but in recent times two theories have gained credibility in answering those questions. The first theory is Sigmund Freuds and the other is known as the cognitive theory of dreams also known as biological determinism.
I looked up at the black sky. I hadn't intended to be out this late. The sun had set, and the empty road ahead had no streetlights. I knew I was in for a dark journey home. I had decided that by traveling through the forest would be the quickest way home. Minutes passed, yet it seemed like hours and days. The farther I traveled into the forest, the darker it seemed to get. I was very had to even take a breath due to the stifling air. The only sound familiar to me was the quickening beat of my own heart, which felt as though it was about to come through my chest. I began to whistled to take my mind off the eerie noises I was hearing. In this kind of darkness I was in, it was hard for me to believe that I could be

I jolted awake in fear. I had a dream. A weird dream. A vivid dream. It was full of people shouting and bright flashes of light. It was confusing yet clear, like some part of me understood it. I didn’t know it would be important then but now I know. How? Well, it happened like this…
From the years 1933-1945, Germany had fallen under the power of an infamous leader that managed to catch the attention and support of nearly every German in Europe. This man attempted to exterminate a whole human race and, although he nearly accomplished it, the Soviet Union managed to put this to a stop. Despite the fact that his leadership was over, the damage was already done and countless people were killed off on his own satisfaction. Who was this man? How did he get away with these things? Why was he allowed to commit such crimes, let alone run a whole country simultaneously? He was a man known as Adolf Hitler. While many believe that Hitler’s leadership may have been unconventional, his methods of taking over the Weimar Republic of Germany and gaining enough support from Germans to execute one of the largest genocides ever recorded made his leadership one of the most significant in history. Throughout this piece, the reader will discover exactly how the immediate support from German citizens led to Hitler’s rise in power and reign of terror which eventually led to the anti-semitic genocide that is still prominent to this day.
Propaganda is a way to influence or persuade one’s opinion. This is a device often used to choose between sides or for a product being sold. There are a variety of ways companies, organizations, and even people use the advertising known as propaganda. One group could insult their competitor, tell lies, or use celebrities to make their product or idea seem more appealing. L'Oréal, for example, uses the latter. They hire beautiful celebrities to be the face of their products, while Dove uses more of an emotional pull to lure in more customers.
